View 11 RepliesI have 125 raw photos that are 4912*3264 pixels I am trying to photomerge all them using the Cylindrical setting. And it is not working. I have let it go for like 12 hours and nothing is happing. Windows task manager flashes "photoshop not resonding" then it goes away and back and repeats... Processor peaks out only at like 15% after all images load and it starts to process.
I tried going into Preferences and messed with ram allocation etc and other settings.Using latest PS version
I am using CS6
Windows 8 x64
Intel Core i7 920
18 Gig of Ram
main drive for windows
raid for casch
disk for images
Nvidia GTX 560 HD
My rotate tool in maya seems to be "locked" i can't freely rotate whenever i left click hold the center and it only rotates where my viewport is looking at so if im at the X axis I can't rotate the Z axis. Tried setting my preferences to default and nothing. I've also set my rotate tool to default.
Whenever I move my camera say to the Z axis the Z handle gets selected and same when I move the camera to the X axis.
I am using my computer as a combo video editing and Photo editing setup. I using a raid 5 for my video editing work, and two 1TB drive setup as raid 1 mirror where my photos are located. I am down to my last 325 GB that may sould a lot but I am planning on really taking off with my picture taking. I have a NAS were I also have my photos backed up. I have not added my photos to Lightroom catalog. I also have Photoshop. I understand it is better to have the photos located on the computer instead of external. How dose Lightroom handle photos on multiple drives?Should I separate the two 1TB drives so I have two 2TB available and if so were to place lightroom Catalog folder? Or should I make it easy on myself and just purchase a 2TB drives and place all the photos at that location?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI noticed that when I open a 16bit ppm in GIMP 2.8, the file opens without the 'gimp can't handle 16bit, it will loose data, etc...' notification. But if I open a tiff version of the very same raw file, the notification does pop up. My understanding is that current GIMP 2.8 can't handle 16bit, regardless of file format. Is that right?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am well aware that several formats cannot handle layers or transparencys. GIMP however seems hell bent to remind me of this EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO SAVE A FILE (and even pops up a second "Oh, these are the current defaults, are they ok?" type dialog on some formats.)
Is there a switch hidden in GIMP that reads something like:
"When I click Save, assume I'm smarter than a plastic fork and know what I'm doing and just save the file in whatever default format has been requested like I told you to and do not attempt to engage me in playing 20 questions."
I installed my photoshop brushes in the gimp brush folder, almost 2.0 GB of Brushes. Now GIMP crashes.
GLib-ERROR gmem.c:165 failed to allocate
And shuts down with a run time error. How do I get around this and is there a limit on the number of brushes that GIMP can handle?
pasting new layers happens so often it's getting a bit redundant to always move my cursor over to the Layers panel, right-click and select New Layer (just the way I have been doing it) to get around the Floating Selection behaviour.
I'm wondering if there is a keyboard shorcut, or if I can change the default behaviour to automatically paste it as a new layer and not as a floating selection, or if there is some other trick people here like using to save time.
As stated I'm using Mac OSX (ML) with GIMP 2.8.3.
When exporting a raw file to tif I set the output sizing to megapixel. When I did it to 58 megapixel at 300dpi it gave me a 165mb file size To get a 58mb file I had to go back and forth to find the setting should be 20 megapixels.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 32 bit system with 4GB ram and graphics accelerator.I have Photoshop CS5.1 installed in the same system at it works perfectly.
What happens is when I use the B+W function, I get an error message saying that I have not enough ram. After that, when I open the next photo with Camera Raw, the raw image will not open.
I have already maximised the Ram that Photoshop can use to 1.7GB and there is more than enough space in my scratch disk.
For some reason Lightroom is not downloading photos from my camera (Canon 5D). I press "import" and it just sits there and says "installing photos" but nothing is happening.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported my photos from my camera to adobe bridge and they looked great. I had no problems saving them in the file folder that I had chosen and when I open them in Photoshop CS4, they look awful. They are all pixelated and broken up and I really don't think my Nikon D90 had anything to do with this and I am very frustrated. Is there a setting that I am missing that could be the problem? What steps can I take to make sure I haven't missed anything because I find it difficult to enhance photos that look so bad when opened in PS.

Also, when in Lightroom can you 'safely remove or unmount' your camera from your computer? I have a mac and am not sure how to safely remove my camera when I'm not in i-photo.
I'm shooting with a Nikon D3s and always had the problem that the imported photos went a few stops darker when they were imported in Lightroom. I figured out that I get better results when I change the camera profile from Adobe Standard to Camera Neutral (which probably equals my setting on my camera)
So how can change this setting for the rest of my already imported stock and how can make this the default setting for my future photo imports?
I like using Bridge to import my photos but also like to use LR5. After I organize and edit in camera raw I want to import (ADD) the adjusted photos into LR5. Problem is the adjustments dont import into LR. The original raw DNG is imported without the fixing that I did.

Not in the trash. I thought i remembered in the older version of adobe camera raw that if you deleted on there the image remained on the drive sorce?
