Also, when in Lightroom can you 'safely remove or unmount' your camera from your computer? I have a mac and am not sure how to safely remove my camera when I'm not in i-photo.
I'm shooting with a Nikon D3s and always had the problem that the imported photos went a few stops darker when they were imported in Lightroom. I figured out that I get better results when I change the camera profile from Adobe Standard to Camera Neutral (which probably equals my setting on my camera)
So how can change this setting for the rest of my already imported stock and how can make this the default setting for my future photo imports?
I like using Bridge to import my photos but also like to use LR5. After I organize and edit in camera raw I want to import (ADD) the adjusted photos into LR5. Problem is the adjustments dont import into LR. The original raw DNG is imported without the fixing that I did.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLR 3.6 has worked OK before, but now stopped importing photos (jpeg and raw) from my cameras (Canon 5D Mk 3, Canon Powershot 100). Program goes to "does not answer" - status and must be closed. The problem seems to be similar in my Elements 8. Importing from my Canon G10, LR says that there is not preview available, but importing succeeds. All cameras import photos to Windows (7) or Picasa normally.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen importing photos (raw files) to Lightroom they look very different than in the camera. At the very beginning photo looks more or less the same and then, a message „Loading…” is displayed and in a result the photo looks differently. It looks like with imposed dimmer yellow/red filter, higher contrast, much lower sharpness and what is most important, they are all overexposed sort of. The screen settings are as sRGB, ICC profile: sRGB IEC61966-2.1. I am using DSLR Sony A700 that save photos in ARW format, Lightorrom just updated to version 4.3 .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying out LR5. I've watched vidoes where in LR4 you can setup a slideshow to play from a folder, and while the slideshow is playing you can take new photos from a tethered camera and it will automatically add it to the slideshow.
In LR5, on my computer (Mac), the incoming photo seems to get stuck and does not make it into the slideshow. I have to stop the slideshow, and restart it to see the new incoming photo taken by tethered camera. I need this function for an event, so I'm just wondering whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether it is a bug in LR5?
I've selected the mode "Use: All Filmstrip Photos". What I've observed is that while playing the slideshow without going fuill screen, a newly taken photo from the tethered camera appears as a white tile, but then the thumbnail contents do not change. When I stop the slideshow, the photo then gets "Developed" and then it will be in the slideshow the next time I play it.
I import photos direct from camera (5DII) into Lightroom 4.3 the folder automatically created in Lightroom is one day out from the date photo created. Camera, computer and metadata info of file all have correct date. Windows 8 OS.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been copying my raw files to two different hard drives using DNG. I discovered last night that the backup file stays in the proprietary raw format. I have been operating under assumption that the backup would be in DNG format. I have been backing up my catalog onto the extra hard drive assuming if my primary drive failed, I would then have the back up hard drive with the backup catalog and things would be fine.
Is the only way to ensure my work is "safe" is to backup the primary hard drive onto a secondary hard drive? Can the dng files along with the catalog be backed up onto an online "cloud" type of service? Will the data be changed so I cannot recopy it and reuse it if my primary drive fails or my house burns down? Any recommendations for a cloud type of back-up service? Is there another methodology that should be employed to keep my photos and catalog data safe from a catastrophe?
Suddenly Lightroom 5 has stopped recognizing Nikon NEF raw files when I try to download them from my cameras memory card.

I have already maximised the Ram that Photoshop can use to 1.7GB and there is more than enough space in my scratch disk.
