Our logo designer has gone back to turkey and the communication is a little hard. Now I tried to gimp around, but I wasn't able to recreate the same shape.

how to up-size this A LOT and still have it look crisp? (it's always easy to make it smaller)

I have a text layer with width given at its creation. When I later open text editor and enter some wider text, it is wrapped to second line. So I would like to enhance the width of the layer to prevent this. When I add width to the layer using "Layer Boundary Size" menu item, text layer gets converted into standard bitmap layer . I don't understand the logic why a text layer isn't preserved on change of its size .
Is there a way how I can adjust size of text layer without its conversion to a bitmap?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a logo consisting of a bunch of simple shapes which are all individual layers. All of these layers are on top of a transparent canvas. I'm not sure if canvas is the right word, but basically what I mean is that I launched GIMP and made a new image that's 512x512 filled with transparency, and by default that became a layer titled background which I consider to be the canvas of my entire Image.
I can't seem to draw on new layers anymore. I've been trying to make new layers filled with transparency and draw on them with the free select tool, ensuring that the opacity is not 0 and that the layer is selected, but its drawing on the background layer rather than the layer I made to draw on. So now when I try to adjust the position of the layer, the shape I drew stays in the same spot because its not part of the layer.
I hope some of you experts out there in the Photoshop world can assist me in some questions I have about older versions of Photoshop vs new, how to use with a Wacom Cintiq 12wx,
and possibly if I can get a student CS5 extended newer version for my son Tony's use if the ver 5.5 I have won't meet his needs?
i currently have a logo that is 460X440 pixels and 12.17cmsX11.69cms and the resolution is 96 pixels per inch.
i am wanting to change it into a 2cm X 2cm avatar that is less than 6K in size,
how do i do this? everything i try makes the output file about 24k in size.
the reason i am doing this is the forum i regularly post on has a max avatar size of 6k.
When I use the measure tool for the ruler an open centered cross is displayed - is there any way to make the size of the centre of the cross larger? this way i can get a more accurate measure of 2 points -

I am putting my pictures onto DVD. When I play the DVD some, not all, of my pictures are shorten and stretched, which makes them hard to see. I have been told that it is a resizing issue, but I can't seem to figure out how to change the image size.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm working now on a project with canvas size A4 (5600x4200).i'm working with large objects and small objects each in its own layer.i wanted to align few object in a certain way and i wanted to use the grid for this.however the grid is so small and can only be seen using 66% and more zoom in. which makes it impossible to align the object since i can't see all of them together.
is there any way to adjust the grid to be in proportion to the correct zoom or not window ? as a workaround i found is the grid plugin , but with it i must recreate the grid for each zoom size and its hard to work like this. having the grid adjusted automatically or at least allow max/min setting for it so it can be seen in an A4 size canvas.
In Photoshop, you can set the size of the eyedropper to sample a single pixel, 3x3 average of 9 pixels, 5x5, 11x11, etc. It can make a big difference when sampling a single pixel as opposed to the average of a larger area.
Can the sample size be set in LightRoom?
If not, what is the sample size in LR when you run your cursor over the image? Does this vary depending on the displayed magnification of the image?

Once the images are edited, cropped / etc. as we want, using a photo program, then saved to the project folder, we insert them to the CAD file. We use the GRIPS to dynamically adjust the image size, snapping to line work.
Problem ... no more GRIPS. We can no longer figure out how to dynamically adjust the image size. Imageframe is set to "1". We could do math calculations to get it sized ... but ... we didn't have to do that with ACAD 2009 on WinXP.
How can I adjust size of default action frames they are very thin. I have tried double clicking on that part I think it is in the actions but can only adjust the drop shadows etc not the actual size of the frame ie like in the wooden frame.

We have found that the SketchBook Designer add-on, part of the suite of programs in the upgrade, is apparently the problem. If we disable that add-on, then the grips once again are there and work as they should.
I am posting this here so that the powers-that-be at AutoDesk will hopefully add this item to their list of glitches that need to be resolved.
I found in image i am trying to expand to almost a 9 inch by 9 inch. When i increase the size it obviously gets extremely grainy and blurry. It is the only image i could find of this particular photo.

Is there a way to adjust the catchment area to a minimum size so it will look beyond the immediate contribution and search for the actual basin area, or am I just wishing/dreaming?

I have figured out how to turn on pen sensitivity. I use Gimp at work on a Mac, and at home on a PC. I teach HS art, and we've been using Gimp exclusively in our computer graphics classes for the last year, and plan to continue with it in the future.
The issue I'm having is the poor sensitivity to pressure with Gimp. I'm using an Intuos4 tablet, and the level of sensitivity in Gimp is roughly 10-20% of what it is in Photoshop. I'm wondering if there is a way to increase/adjust the sensitivity of the pen pressure in Gimp.
Any way to set the character leading setting so that it auto-adjusts when you adjust font size? I think my Ps used to do that. Now, whenever I change font size, I have to adjust the leading, too.
