If possible, I want to use Photoshop to create the same distortion my lens would create. For example, if I photograph a sheet of graph paper, the result would be a distorted grid. Can I get photoshop to take an UN-distorted grid, and distort it in the same manner? How complicated is this, if possible?

Premiere Pro :: Lens Distortion Correction In CS6?
Mar 6, 2013I'm trying to correct the distortion caused by a wide-angle lens in Premiere CS6. From what I can tell, there is no filter or transform / distort feature within Premiere itself. I followed the steps in this tutorial to open the MPEG4 in Photoshop, apply the lens correction filter, and then export the video again to be re-imported to Premiere. URL....
However this tutorial is for CS5. I am seeing no adjustment or filter layer in my layers panel, as it appears in the tutorial. When I go to export the video, it seems the Adaptive Wide Angle filter or the Lens Correction filter has only applied to a single frame of the whole clip. Bummer.
GIMP :: Use Of Lens Distortion Filter? (2011)
Apr 3, 2011I need to correct distortion from my 18-200 mm lens for my Nikon D80.
I can experiment with the controls until I get what looks reasonable,but it would be easier if I could find recommendations for settings of the lens distortion filter at different focal lengths for the lens.
I used to use a Panorama Tools plugin for gimp for which I found such recommendations, but I can't get that plugin to work with recent versions of gimp.
Of course I can experiment by photographing a grid at different focal lengths and different subject distances and using trial and error, and create my own tables.
Finally, where can I find a description of the the algorithm that the filter uses. If I had that, it might simplify things. Usually these algorithms apply a polynomial (usually cubic) correction based on the radial distance from the center of the image. The parameters set the coefficients of the polynomial.
GIMP :: Using Lens Distortion Filter (2011)
Apr 18, 2011There used to be a pnorama tools plugin which allowed one to entercorrections for specific lenses which I was able to find on the web.That worked very well. But I haven't been able to find that plugin forrecent versions of gimp.
There is a lens distortion filter, but you have to use it by trial anderror. I haven't found any specific recommendations to use forspecific lenses anywhere. And in some cases, nothing I try works. Iattach an example below. It was taken, I believe with a Nikon 18-55 mmlens at 18 mm. You will notice that there is no distortion at thesides but significant barrel distortion as you move in from the sides.No combination of major and edge correction that I've tried does anygood.
P.S. I understand that ahd I shot raw with my Nikon, I might havebeen able to do the correction more easily using ufraw. Also, it mightbe possible using hugin to correct the distortion. But I would like tobe able to do it with gimp if I can.

Photoshop :: CS3 / CS4 - What Causes Print Size Distortion
Jul 5, 2012Why would images print significantly smaller than designed (I'm referring to the ruler size, NOT the screen size) when the pixel aspect ratio in Photoshop is set to square pixels and 300 dpi? Does Premier or AE reset PhotoShop pixel dimenions on the sly in the Master Collection?
We have a summer intern designing business card size (3.5" x 2") inspiration cards on an old laptop that was used for video production with with the CS3 Master Collection and a CS4 Production Premium upgrade.
The 3.5 x 2.0 cards print out at about 3 3/8" by 1 15/16" on every one of the half dozen different printers we've tried them on, including FedEx Office locations and several different Lexmark office printers. Image size is 1050 px by 600 px, i.e., 3.5" by 2.0"
When we lay out a number of cards on an 8" x 11" sheet and save it as a pdf, and then open the pdf in Photoshop and measure the image sizes, each card clearly measures 3.5" by 2" but still prints in the distorted 3 3/8" by 1 15/16" size.
The smaller print problem persists if we save the images as tif, jpg or bmp. Opening the files and resaving them in CS5.5 doesn't work either. It's a problem with both the CS3 and CS4 versions of Photoshop on that laptop.
It looks like something is forcing the pixels into a smaller rectangular shape but I don't know where else to look to try to fix it.
Our CS5.5 Master Collection Photoshop is doing the same thing, only not as much. I'd like to be able to print the cards close to actual size. The problem persists for 5.5" x 8.5" bookcover designs too.

May 13, 2009I am putting my pictures onto DVD. When I play the DVD some, not all, of my pictures are shorten and stretched, which makes them hard to see. I have been told that it is a resizing issue, but I can't seem to figure out how to change the image size.

Mar 27, 2013Is there a way to increase the size of the "Lens Flare" sample? I tried to set a couple of lens flares on a pic I'm working on, but the sample is so small I cannot see where the flare is winding up until I click ok and the flare shows on the pic (and is a mile off)
I need to see if there is a way to either enlarge the 'sample' or get the flare to show on the pic so I an see where to place it exactly. I've found several other 'sample(s)' windows are far too small to do any good... surely there has to be some way to enlarge them?
Or at least to get the Flare to show on the big pic like some of the other filters do as you use them.

However, I have hit a road block in trying to figure out how to write a rule for resizing the last roof sheet in this assembly pictured below to be even with the frame. The rule below is what controls the roof sheet pattern based on the frame length. The problem I am continually running into is how do you modify a part which is in an element within the pattern without having it affect the rest of the parts in the pattern since they all refer to part. I can get since it is hard to find information on i Logic.

May 17, 2012I'm working now on a project with canvas size A4 (5600x4200).i'm working with large objects and small objects each in its own layer.i wanted to align few object in a certain way and i wanted to use the grid for this.however the grid is so small and can only be seen using 66% and more zoom in. which makes it impossible to align the object since i can't see all of them together.
is there any way to adjust the grid to be in proportion to the correct zoom or not window ? as a workaround i found is the grid plugin , but with it i must recreate the grid for each zoom size and its hard to work like this. having the grid adjusted automatically or at least allow max/min setting for it so it can be seen in an A4 size canvas.
Lightroom :: Adjust The Sample Size?
Feb 8, 2013In Photoshop, you can set the size of the eyedropper to sample a single pixel, 3x3 average of 9 pixels, 5x5, 11x11, etc. It can make a big difference when sampling a single pixel as opposed to the average of a larger area.
Can the sample size be set in LightRoom?
If not, what is the sample size in LR when you run your cursor over the image? Does this vary depending on the displayed magnification of the image?

Jun 1, 2012Here's another item that no longer works after our office-wide computer and CAD upgrade ... to Win 7 / ACAD 2013 ...
We regularly use screen-shot .bmp images from a map site to do our location maps ... and .bmp images for a rendering on the cover sheet. Once the images are edited, cropped / etc. as we want, using a photo program, then saved to the project folder, we insert them to the CAD file. We use the GRIPS to dynamically adjust the image size, snapping to line work.
Problem ... no more GRIPS. We can no longer figure out how to dynamically adjust the image size. Imageframe is set to "1". We could do math calculations to get it sized ... but ... we didn't have to do that with ACAD 2009 on WinXP.
