I'm currently using GIMP for making textures for a 3D game. These textures are drawn by hand and making those "tileable" is a bit awkward most of the time. There's all sorts of manual methods but I'm wondering if there's something that will take care of this in real time. Anyway what I'm looking for:
Is there a way to create layer groups which contain the very same layers at different locations? Or displaying the same layer group in two places next to each other? So stuff I draw in one place is "cloned" in real time to another layer or group? What I want is the ability draw seamlessly, so when I draw at or past the layer borders on the bottom I automatically draw at the top border.
I can kinda achieve this manually either by offsetting a layer or by making the layer bigger in size than the texture I want and then cutting and pasting the details beyond the actual texture size to the opposite side. But those are very awkward procedures, especially when working with many layers that have to be drawn and edited separately. Is there maybe some automated feature that takes care of this for me in real time?
I've been using GIMP for a while but it's just recently I've come across this issue as I have to deal with something I've never done before. I have a .gif that I want to tile across the canvas of an image to use as a background. Then I have a normal image I want to show on top of that. The main issue seems to be the tiling, as when I export the whole thing as a gif, it plays each iteration of the gif before going onto the next one. I want to know how I can get them all to play at once.
I have a problem making labels. I designed a label (to be printed out on fabric), 5 x 5 cm, then tiled it to 20 x 20 cm (to be sent to a printing shop for a print proof), but every time, it comes out as 40 x 40 cm, with only 4 rows of 4 labels, which means that the label itself has doubled in size. I don't get it.
Textures shown for objects on 3d layers aren't being rendered at their highest resolution in the view port. Is there any information on how to fix this? Here is a screenshot:
is there a way to make twin objects in autocad drawings?
what do i have in mind. lets say i have object that is repeating in several other places (floors) like in picture "a". and i need to change them all in the same way by making changes on only one of them. so like it is showen in pictures "b" and "c" i would rotate and move only object at 1st floor, but "twin" objects on other flores would do the same.
How do you draw parallel lines with a specific distance between them? I was gonna use this function for futuristic artwork. Do you have to use the grid for this or is there another way?
way to make parallel shapes using the Path Tool similar to Photoshop?
I haven't used Photoshop in a while, but I remember that you could hold CTRL (on PC) and click with the Pen Tool and it would straighten up your shape for you once the paths are connected and would like to do similar in GIMP but can't find out how.
I have tried using Textures mainly for replacing the background on a photo. So far I have been able to do it but alot of the times the main subject in the image is covered by the texture. My goal is to replace the background only with a texture and leave the rest of the image as is.
I am working on a 3D object (a bus) and want to add a deep metal color on it! I don't know how to make a texture so I get that nice metal color! I am going to paint the bus red and some other color but I get lost in all effects etc!I How I continue after adding a red color on the texture so I get it to look like a nice deep metal color!
I'd like to achieve an effect similar to the one shown here:

What I need to do...
1.) Take screenshots of various pages of code (did this) 2.) Use masks (or maybe not) to apply some sort of texture behind each screenshot 3.) Use a perspective effect to rotate each page of code to varying extents 4.) Use masks and transparency (or maybe not?) to paste the pages on top of each other in layers
I should be looking up and combining to get there, and with other specifics.
Regarding (1), do I want to capture screenshots of black text on a white background? Or, the reverse? Regarding (2) and (4), are these right?
I want to do for X plane 10. As x plane uses only a single texture per object i need to create a texture which would contain all faces of a building e.g. the roof / front / back etc.. , i tried one by making a 1024x1024 area and imported the other images and saved them as a single jpg. but the texture is not showing up.
Is there a way to select a portion of an image, and create patterns/textures that fill the selection?
If yes, is there the option of using my own images as the pattern/texture to be used? And is there the option to fill the selection either randomly or pattern-like? 'Noise' is not what I'm looking for.
Being a 3D modeler, I want to texture my safe in GIMP. However, I have no idea how to go about texturing that dial like bit where you turn the handle, complete with numbers.
I want a lines going out from the center, lots of lines, and some numbers along a circular path.
My job requires that we have no internet access. I currently deploy our clients using a cloning machine. I create a master image and clone to our clients with all applications installed.
I would like to be able to include the activation before I clone to the clients. I watched the video for AAMES and it mentioned about a workaround for cloned clients. It also said there was a video available on the topic.
Clone tool, in that when I clone (let's say grass as example), the new cloned area does NOT come out as sharp as the area selected. It comes out much softer and somewhat blurred. I have the opacity and flow both set at 100%. This is very frustrating since I can not get a true clone.
The setup, im attempting to create mtext aligned to the selected object at the point nearest to where i select, this works fine for active objects, but is failing when it trys to calc the angle on nested objects
(Line 106, Dim fder AsVector3d = bah.GetFirstDerivative(inspt) )
i think this is because the point is not associated with the cloned (from xref) object? any thoughts on how to get it to work with the single object selection/insertion point prompt? in the meantime ive re-written to have a second prompt for the insertion point, which works on the cloned object.
Heres the Imports
SystemImports Autodesk.AutoCAD.RuntimeImports Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServicesImports Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServicesImports Autodesk.AutoCAD.GeometryImports Autodesk.AutoCAD.EditorInput<Assembly: CommandClass(GetType(Line_Labler.snibbity))> Namespace Line_Labler Public Class snibbity <CommandMethod("linelabel")> Public Sub snabble()
I need to use the Handle of the cloned object during a DeepClone override but AutoCAD shuts down when I try to use it.
This is the best I can think of but it still boots me out when I try.
Public Overrides Function DeepClone(ByVal dbObject As DBObject, ByVal ownerObject As DBObject, ByVal idMap As IdMapping, ByVal isPrimary As Boolean) As DBObject Try Return MyBase.DeepClone(dbObject, ownerObject, idMap, isPrimary) Catch Finally CompileCloneObjects(dbObject.Handle.ToString, MyBase.DeepClone(dbObject, ownerObject, idMap, isPrimary).Handle.ToString) End Try End Function
So, I use the clone stamp and have my selection floating on my screen. My question is... how do I rotate it using the keyboard? I've done this before but cannot remember the keys.
Ok, I'd want to have other (others) custom command "create section view2" and optionally call it from an icon.
These commands are saved with the drawing? ( I think yes). Would be there a possiblity to have easy access to this elements to deal with them ? Is it impossible?
Having custom commands cloned and customized from existing
my gimp 2.8.6 makes majority normal layers turn into text layers..
Even if i "discard text information" from layer..and then save it as .xcf it doesnt work! Same layers appear as text layers when i open that .xcf Its not a big deal but it really slows me down when im working with layers..
I merged my layers down to scale to proportion and I thought I was done with the project, so I saved it and exported. I then learned that I did something incorrectly, so I went back to the project only to remember I merged the layers and I don't know how to undo that. How do you revert the layers back to layers?
i'm currently working on a header. I've created a tiling background image, 6*6px gif, and I was wondering whether it's possible to insert this, tiled, into the header image. The reason I wanted to do this is because the header contains gradients and looks nasty in gif, so I can't really use transparency. However I don't want to have to manually duplicate the tile a billion times.
I have a problem. I am trying to print an image that is 108" x 94" on 36" self adhesive vinyl. This should be easy right? After all it's just three 36" panels 94" long. ... tell that to x 5! I click the print icon, go into layout and from that point onward I am more spectator than print manager.
Everything I do to try to get the image tiled with 3 x tiles and 0 y tiles is futile. The scale of the image keeps changing, why isn't the scale 100%? I preview the print and the number of tiles keeps changing almost with every effort to print three tiles, at times it looks as if x5 wants to print the image in 8 1/2 x 11 tiles!
Do I need a Phd in computer programming to be able to perform this task which seems to on par with creating the universe in 6 days?
Not sure what's happened, but the new tiled painting function doesn't seem to be working for me. I tried it once or twice and it was fine, but now I keep hitting 'new tiled painting' and it creates a 3D layer that is totally blank/empty. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
