Photoshop :: Why Textures For 3D Layers Not Shown At Highest Resolution
Oct 28, 2013
Textures shown for objects on 3d layers aren't being rendered at their highest resolution in the view port. Is there any information on how to fix this? Here is a screenshot:

I'm working with the editor to ascertain exactly what format he wants these images in. The film is being shot with HD video, and the editor keeps telling me he wants the images in the "absolute native Pixel dimensions of the RAW image".
I shot raw images with a canon 5D Mark II, so technically, I believe this would be approximately 5,616 x 3,744 (of course, this would vary for each image, but this is the data I have read about the camera sensor).
I shot about 1,000 images, so to deliver 1,000 images, output as TIFF's, at something like 4,000 pixels.

When hiding or showing a layer the main canvas is not refreshing.
If I hide the layer window then the canvas is refreshed.
So in order to hide a layer I click the eye icon, click in the canvas panel, hit Tab to refresh the canvas, and tab again to shop the layer window again.
I'm pretty sure this is not by design but I'm not sure whether there's a setting I've accidentally activated, or if it's a bug in Gimp or if it's a problem with the graphics set up on my machine (not having any other problems).
I'm using Gimp v 2.8.4 On fedora 17/Gnome 3
I've tried purging gimp from my system and reinstalling with out success!

I'm currently using GIMP for making textures for a 3D game. These textures are drawn by hand and making those "tileable" is a bit awkward most of the time. There's all sorts of manual methods but I'm wondering if there's something that will take care of this in real time. Anyway what I'm looking for:
Is there a way to create layer groups which contain the very same layers at different locations? Or displaying the same layer group in two places next to each other? So stuff I draw in one place is "cloned" in real time to another layer or group? What I want is the ability draw seamlessly, so when I draw at or past the layer borders on the bottom I automatically draw at the top border.
I can kinda achieve this manually either by offsetting a layer or by making the layer bigger in size than the texture I want and then cutting and pasting the details beyond the actual texture size to the opposite side. But those are very awkward procedures, especially when working with many layers that have to be drawn and edited separately. Is there maybe some automated feature that takes care of this for me in real time?

When I attempt to use the move tool to move a layer, as I grab the object in that layer, the move tool suddenly switches to the highest most layer, not the layer I selected. I can't seem to change this and this only started happening recently.

I need to prepare an image for professional printing and I want to retain as much quality as is possible.
The final file needs to be a 300ppi sRGB jpg.
The print needs to have a large white border so I am 'placing' the image into a new file where the canvas serves as the border.
In other words, I'm placing an 8x10 image into a new 12X14 file.
My question is: how do ensure that the quality of the original 8x10 image is not affected?
My current workflow is as follows:
1. Save the 8x10 as a 300ppi, 16bit, prophoto tif.
2. Create a new file with the dimensions of 12x14, 300ppi, 16bit, prophoto.
3. Place the 8x10 image into this file.
4. Save for web & devices at JPEG, 100 Quality, Convert to sRGB

Bought VS X4 last week cause I had problems with X3... And now I really wonder why the hell I bought X4... cause I keep having the same problems.
I've tried calling Corel today and I can only get support if I buy a support card. I just got this program and I would like some purchase support or something. Cause I have this program since Saturday.
Anyhow... It never crashes, only with rendering. First it didn't crash if I rendered it in a lower resolution, but I want the highest resolution, I'm on art school and I need to show it in big on a screen.
Anyhow, with the somewhat lower resolution it didn't crash, but now it also crashes on the lower resolution.
I heard people having the problem with X3, like I had, and they had to remove all apple products. So I did, and trying it now...

What's the best EXPORT settings to get high quality for a .jpg website banner. I have played around with the settings and got no where. :-( I want the text to stay clear and sharp, and my dark colors actually dark. My setting so far give me faded colors and blurry edges on the text.

I'm using a post script 2 plotter I created for producing EPS files which I then convert into PDF's via Adobe programs.
Am I right in assuming it produces the highest quality line drawings? or would it be quicker and as satisfactory plotting with the default 'DWG to PDF' that comes with AutoCAD 11?

I cannot seem to create a new keyword in LR5 at the highest hierarchical level. When I try to create a new keyword, either with an image selected or not, it puts that new keyword in as a (third-level) sublevel keyword within a keyword that I have created in the past. I can move the newly created (sublevel) keyword to be a sublevel keyword within another previously created highest level keyword. But I cannot create a new highest level keyword.

I realize the nature of my question maybe asking the impossible, but I have a low res image I downloaded from the internet, placed in an InDesign page, blew it up and printed it out. I was going for the distressed look that it has, it looks ok when I print it out considering it's low res and I blew it up fairly large. However, it's a little too pixelated to look professional when printed. Are they any tricks or things I can do to make it look higher res for print. I've attached the image as well as a screenshot of the InDesign file so you can see it in context.

I am a Photoshop newbie and I have a series of graphics (all 72dpi from a website) that I would like to print in 300dpi. Is it possible to take a 72dpi .jpeg or .gif file and easily convert it to a higher resolution printable graphic? If Photoshop can't do it, is there any type of program that can?

I'm trying to create a high resolution version of a low resolution texture used in a game. I've found a pattern that I think is acceptable, from a real image. Now the question is this: how can I colorize the large image to that it is as resemblant as possible to the original one? I've tryed a simple colorize, but the result is not so good...

I've been doing a lot of work with the Stress Analysis recently, and I have wondered if a certain feature exits. When I am interpreting the results of a simulation, I'll use the probe to find out the stress in certain areas. The problem is that I can't be certain that I've picked the point of highest stress in a certain area. I know that I can find the highest overall stress, but it's hit or miss finding the 'highest local stress' as I've come to call it. I need to be able to prove that a certain member's stress is below the allowable stress, and I can't be certain of the member's highest stress unless y'all know of some way.
I am running Autodesk Inventor Professional 2014, 64-bit.

I am using PS CS2 and the Unreal 3 engine. I came across a tutorial that had to do with particles in the Unreal editor. The tutorial went well but at the top of the page he had the texture he used for the base of the particle. Here it is: Particle Texture I am seeking information on how to make my own textures like this that I can use for custom particle effects. I have tried blending options, filters and layer setups trying to emulate this texture but all of mine come out to rough and less "whispy" and smooth like the one above. The textures I make work fine in the editor but because they are not smooth and what not the particles look very blocky and unconvincing. Any tips or roads to go down on how I can achieve textures like the one above?
