recently I installed GIMP on my Lenovo S10-3t netbook running Gentoo Linux, and for some reason I haven't been able to get the keyboard working at all. I have tried resetting everything to default, and reinstalling GIMP, but to no avail.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI notice that some of the shortcuts/hot keys don't work. For example, one basic hot key that does not work is the F7-key. The F7-key opens and closes the layers palette.
Another hot key that does not work is the spacebar. My teacher taught me to hold the spacebar down when you want to move the canvas around. When I am in handtool mode I hold the spacebar down, I then apply pressure on my laptops touchpad, I then slide my finger across my laptops touchpad in order to try and move the canvas, but the canvas does not budge.
Some shortcuts work. For example, tapping the F-key multiple times will expand and reduce the size of Photoshop.
Closing my web browser did not resolve the problem. Updating the software did not resolve the problem.

Ive even tried setting my own, and those wont work either. Can anyone tell me how to fix that? Secondly, my brushes don't work. I have to set the brush to be over 100 just to see like a 5 pt line show up on the canvas. Ive tried everything!!!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD 2013 and, out of nowhere, my keyboard aliases don’t work. Ex: When I type m for MOVE, I get MADD. When I type co for COPY, I get COLOR. If I turn off ‘Auto Append’, and try it, I get ‘UNKNOWN COMMAND’. I’m at a loss as to what to do. (I checked to see if I lost the acad.pgp file, but it’s still there.) how to get them back.

While working on an illustration I'll frequently use keyboard shortcuts. command+z, i, r, z, option, etc. Someties after making a stroke with the brush tool, I'll go to undo with command+option+z and nothing will happen. Other keyboard shortcuts do the same thing—no response.
I'm using PS CS5 extended on two different systems and having the same problem. My right control key is often getting stuck on - even though the key is not physically stuck. Occasionally it also just seems to stop working, as does the right alt key. It only affects Photoshop, and I can fix it by quitting and restarting. This happens on a Vista 64 system and my Windows 7 laptop. They have two different keyboards, obviously, and I think two different drivers. I use custom keyboard shortcuts for a few things, but reverting to default did not seem to work that I could tell.

I'm using win8 with photoshop cs5. Using english & hebrew languages. When using hebrew the keyboard shortcuts (exe: T for type, Ctrl+C, etc) doesnt work. everytime i need to change back to EN to use the keyboard. where can be the problem?

I am working with a PC. I have even tried using a built in font to ensure the problem was not that the font of choice not having the accents I was looking for.
If I do a command such as regen, or switch between tabs/modelspace, generally anything that seems to involve a screen update, then immediately following that if I try something like a Shift-Tab type of operation, there is no response from autocad until I move the mouse. This is consistent if hardware accelertion is turned on or off, so I can't go blaming the video drivers just yet.

For example, I want to save an image as a jpg The only way I have found is to 'Export' (Is this the right way?)
The problem is that after getting the File menu (alt F), there's no way of getting to the 'Export' option by one key stroke (I suppose you can always press the down or up arrow - but that doesn't count - takes too long)
Is there anyway I can create my own keyboard shortcuts?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I open up Gimp after installing the new Maverick operating system on my iMac, and now for whatever reason I can't use my keyboard without it activating the hotkeys.. So If I'm trying to rename a layer or even save my project, the only letters that I can actually type are the ones that have not been assigned a hotkey. Basically I have a bunch of new files named "vvv" or "ggjg" filled with layers that I can't organize by name, which is slowing me down considerably!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI like to use keyboard shortcuts in GIMP to select different tools or to nudge an image, but I frequently click on the layers window, which causes keyboard shortcut commands to then be directed to the layers window. So whenever I click to select a different layer or do anything with layers, afterwards I always have to have to click on the image window again to regain use of my editing keyboard shortcuts.
Because of this, I also often forget that layers window has focus and end up messing up my layers with key-shortcut commands intended for the image window. Is there some change I can make to my workflow or keyboard bindings to avoid this problem?
Just got my Wacom draw tablet working with GIMP....but now I have a whole new set of issues GIMP will not respond to either the Wacom pen or mouse then stops responding to my main keyboard and main mouse ., lets me draw a little on one layer and then just stops working. Today when I tried to configure the tablet settings in the tool box it didn't read the tablet at all. And yes the tablet was plugged in. I think I am starting to hate GIMP.

I'm using Gimp 2.8.4 on Kubuntu 13.04.
When I change to single window mode, the Shortcuts disappear from the tooltips of the tools window (ie. 'E' for Elipse, 'Shift+B' for Bucket etc). The tooltips still work, and I can still check them on the tools menu (alt+t). But it would be nice to be able to see them on the mouseover tooltip. If I close Gimp and reopen, the shortcuts show up again on the tooltips. But if I change to single window mode again, they will disappear one more time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Gimp 2.8 and I am using Single-Window Mode. I have about 15 images open at the same time and I am doing repetitive tasks on each of them. I made keyboard shortcuts to do the tasks themselves but I still have to use my mouse to go up and click the next tab to start work on the next image. It would save time if there were a keyboard shortcut. I see that under the Windows menu I can use Alt+1 through Alt+0 to select any of the first 10 images, but I have 15 open.
I wanted to know if there is a keyboard shortcut to just switch to the next tab or the previous tab.
A new feature in 2.8 appears to be keyboard accelerators (shortcuts) forthe pull-down menus. For example, Alt-S displays the Select menu, Alt-Wthe Windows menu, etc.
I have already assigned these key-combinations to other functions in thekeyboard shortcuts menu, but the default menubar assignments are takingprecedence.
How can I disable these menu accelerators so that I can regain the use ofthe Alt-[ESVILCTRWH] sequences?
Maybe there should be a toggle on the Configure Keyboard Shortcuts menu tohandle this. And certainly, if you reassign these keystrokes in the menu,their original function should be disabled.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a serious problem with gimp on my mackbook pro, running os x mavericks, but the problem also existed in mountain lion.
When any dialog box appears where there is a text box for keyboard input, the keystrokes go to the background gimp main window instead of the foreground dialog box. So it's impossible, for example, to type in a new file name on a save as dialog box. Another example is it's impossible to type in an image width in the scale image dialog box. This is true of all the dialog boxes I've checked.
This makes gimp practically unusable on a mac, and is therefore a serious problem. I know of a workaround that involves typing in data into the mac text editor and pasting it into gimp dialog boxes, but that's ugly and unacceptable.
Is there any way to create a keyboard shortcut to put focus on the image window? I see how to create shortcuts to select every window except the image window, and it if I could just select the image window with a keyboard shortcut, GIMP would be much easier for me to use.
Also is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut to toggle the visibility of a layer?
there's a way to setup a keyboard shortcut to adjust pressure and rate for airbrush and smudge tools? I swear I've been up and down the whole shortcuts list... and perhaps I'm just missing something...
