Feb 26, 2014I'm working on CS6, OSX, I exported a logo to jpeg form Illustrator, when I open it on the default image preview app and try to copy (cmd+V) it won't let me, the copy option under edit isn't gereyed out but when I use it or press cmd+v a sound tells me the action can't be completed and it obviously doesn't copy to th clipboard, When saving it from the "save for web" option it works properly and I can copy and paste without problems, all of this also happens if I do it in Photoshop, this has never happened to me until now.

Mar 14, 2012When I copy and paste a pdf document into Corel Draw, it seems as the default size of the pasted object reflects anywhere from 23" (left to right) & 17" (top to bottom) = 23"x17". After selecting the object, & entering an object size of 8" x 11", the document then resizes to 2"x3". So, then I always have to enter the 8"x11" again for it to finally accept that size - which it always does, but on the 2nd time trying.

Jul 19, 2013I'm running Gimp 2.8.4 on Ubuntu 13.04 Linux (64-bit) and I'm trying touse the "Bevel and Emboss" layer effect on an image which I copied fromanother image. Here is what I've done:
1. Loaded image 'A' into Gimp
2. Selected a portion of it
3. Used "/Edit/Copy" to copy the selection
4. Used "/Edit/Paste As/New image" to create a new image from the selection
5. In the new window for the new image, "/FX-Foundry/Layer effects/Bevel and Emboss"
6. When the "Bevel and Emboss" window opens, I accept the defaults and click "Ok"
The filter starts to run and then stops with an error message. Here is the message I get:

GIMP :: Layers Hiding The Copied Image
Nov 23, 2011I have an image that I resized and that resulted in a gray checker board pattern above and below the original photo. I tried to add another photos above by copying and pasting it but get nothing I can see.
I tried merging visible layers but that did nothing (obviously since the copied photo is not visible).
Specifically I open the second photo, Select > All, Edit > Copy, went to the first image Edit > Paste resulting in a outline box of about the right size but without anything in it. I dragged this to the place I wanted it but I cannot get it to become visible. When I anchored the layer the outline box went away.
I have two layers but the second layer appears to be exactly like the first one.

GIMP :: Copy / Paste Image - Mac Symbol For JPED Pasted
Sep 17, 2012I am having problems copying/pasting an image into Gimp. Instead of the image itself being pasted, it pastes the mac symbol for Jpeg (the photo of the little Asian boy by the sea with the camera lens on top). The same happens pasting an EPS file. I don't understand as I have managed to paste an image before. I have tried pasting into selection/pasting as new image/pasting as new layer. All the same. Neither will Gimp let me drag an image into it from finder or the desktop. I've tried opening a new file from scratch too. Same problem.
I'm using a macbook pro. OX 10.6.8

I imported text, formatted it within Indesign cs3 and not it's time to copy the block and paste it onto the right side of the page. But the pasted version had a .50 tab at the first word which does not exist on the original side. How do I fix this?

Oct 2, 2011Is there a way to just splice my image up into 16 512x512 squares? like a tile set (which by the way I'm sure my math is screwed up on that so how many squares I need to cut out a 2048x2048 image for 4 on top and 4 on the sides that'd be great. I suck at math)
I tried copping and stuff but I can't seem to use the tools right. I wrote a lengthy detailed version of this but figured it was too much to read so I am editing/cutting all the details out
Also the resize part. nevermind I got it figured, I just had to resize the image and the canvas follows suit. I didn't know that, thought I had to resize canvas first then image like in photoshop.
GIMP :: Rotate / Resize Always Crops The Image
Jul 10, 2011When Rotating or Resizing an image I have recently run into an issue. This is new behavior so I think I either have something set incorrectly, or it came in with a recent re-install.
When Rotating or Resizing, and setting Clipping to Adjust, it always Crops the image.
In other words: If I were to attempt to stretch an image bigger than 1000x1000 to say 1500x1500 it appears to do all the correct calculations, and does stretch the image, but anything outside the original 1000x1000 disappears.
Likewise if I were to attempt to rotate an image that were say, 1000x1500, 90°, I would end up with a rotated image 1000x1000 in size, and transparent/background for the balance of the original 1000x1500 sized image.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling (it remembered all my settings, so I don't know how much good this might have done), setting the Clipping option to Clip, then Crop and back to Adjust again (also with no result).

May 2, 2012I've recently started trying to learn how to use GIMP through making signatures, and for the past 2 weeks or so, it has been going fine.
Today, when attempting to resize the large image down to signature size, even though the preview shows a good quality render, after it scales the image loses all quality. Whats more, thinking it might just be a poor image, I tried to resize previously succesful images and got the same bad result.

I understand that the aspect box is unticked, but even with that selected the image became distorted
I have also tried cubic / Sinc, both resulting in blurry picture.
The most frustrating thing is that the preview shows that the picture can be made that small and retain it's quality, and up until now this has not been an issue.

GIMP :: Resize Image To Print As Business Card Using Labels?
Jun 12, 2011When I went to make my business cards, I had the settings at 2in x 3.5in 300dpi in GIMP.
When I go to print them as business cards using GimpLabels, you can only see the very top portion of my image. After switching the ruler settings to pxl (in the corner) I noticed my image is actually 2500 pixels by 3500 pixels. Obviously a business card is not that big. So... Is there anyway to easily scale this to the correct size?
I actually have about 10 different versions of this card I have to print.... So it would really suck if I'd have to go in an manually scale every one of them. It would be nice if GimpLabels would scale it itself you know?

Feb 20, 2013i got a clip (.png) with alpha embedded. so this png is a matte container clip. When i apply resize from desktop tool. The result is a normal rgb clip with no alpha. It's no longer matte container clip. What is the best way to resize it? do i have to open the matte container and resize the rgb and alpha separately ? is there any better or smarter way to do it?

I'm trying to do it again tonight with a different texture I created but when I try to paste it into the other image the pasted layer is not visible. The layer transparency is set to 100, and, of course, the 'show layer" eye is clicked.

Mar 12, 2013I'm inside cfx where at the end of my network , i attach resize and set bit depth to 10 bit. Then i create a cfx node. The cfx node now cannot be rendered. After finish rendering, it will be back to unrendered state. The project setting itself is set to 16 bit fp. If i set that resize using the same 16 bit , then cfx clip has no problem.

This logo is composed by two things: the first one is the picture of the logo itself, than the second is the text part (which is not the hardest thing to do).
What I'm trying to do is, once have drown the "subject" (a light blue drop, in my case), to copy and paste it in order to have other four copies of the same drop, but moved and rotated to create something like a circle..
You can find the original logo I created attached. But I'm not really satisfied with it (this is also why I'm writing here!) =)
I'd like to re-create it and put the drops as in the attached logo....
GIMP :: Why Do Pasted Layers Change Color
Apr 5, 2012when I select>>copy from one image and then Paste As Layer into a new image, parts of the copied selection change color. It's usually not a vast difference in color, but a definite change.
In the screen shot you'll see that I copied the "Learn More" link from the top image and pasted it as a layer into the 3 following background images. In the first two it pasted exact (a brownish color), in the 3rd it pasted as a drab green color. Why?The 3 images being pasted to are all Indexed images with the same channels and same opacity.
The next example screen shot may identify my issue...but this one REALLY Does my head in I selected the bear by color, copied, and pasted as a layer into each one of the background images shown in the first example/screen shot.Notice in the first, how the bear is pasted as the off brown color of the Learn More link.The Second is pasted as the drab green color i'm trying to fix in the first example.And the Third is pasted as the Black color I want, but its on the same image as the drab green Learn More link I can't seem to fix...

The background of the image before pasting (on the original site) is white (or maybe transparent). However, when I paste the image onto GIMP, the background changes to black, which envelops the black outline and ruins the picture. How can I paste this image so that the background remains white/transparent?

Apr 3, 2013pasting new layers happens so often it's getting a bit redundant to always move my cursor over to the Layers panel, right-click and select New Layer (just the way I have been doing it) to get around the Floating Selection behaviour.
I'm wondering if there is a keyboard shorcut, or if I can change the default behaviour to automatically paste it as a new layer and not as a floating selection, or if there is some other trick people here like using to save time.
As stated I'm using Mac OSX (ML) with GIMP 2.8.3.

Apr 24, 2012I have an old photograph. The print is not in good shape, it looks like an old oil painting with cracks all over the place. It looks bit like a jigsaw. I have to zoom in quite far and when I do, I can, if I wish, select a small area that is homogeneous. The area is a coat, so it's sort of a cloth texture. Now, to my way of thinking, I wish I could select this small area and the select paintbrush which would lay down a textured area exactly like the selected textured area. That would be kind of a magical paintbrush.To my limited mind, I think I may have to paint over the whole photograph to restore it. But, anyhow how might I begin to restore this photo I have?
