I've saved a file with paths as .xcf and I can call up the paths again in the paths dockable dialogue. But I can't actually see the anchors or edit the paths. How can I continue working on a path I was working on before?
View 2 RepliesSimply press 'b' for the bezier select tool, and click where you want a line to begin, and click again where you want the line to end. Now, you can move the line around until you get it perfect by clicking on the dot on either end and dragging it with the mouse. Isn't that neat! You can even click on the middle of the line and bend it! Try it! You can draw any shape with it.
If you make a mess, just press ctrl + z and undo your last changes. The GIMP remembers a very long list of changes, so you can go backwards step by step.
When you are happy with your line, or lines. just click 'Edit' --> 'Stroke path'. A box will open to allow you top choose settings for exactly how you want your line stroked. You can just leave it the way it is, or you can make GIMP do almost anything with your line. GIMP will remember your previous settings too, and offer you the same settings for the next line. When the box mentioned above pops up, I choose my desired settings and hit the "Stroke" button, absolutely nothing happens. No matter how thick I tell it to make the line, no line ever appears.
Yesterday I installed the newest GIMP 2.8 version for map making. I want to make a great map of USA/Mexico.Everything works fine except the most important thing for me, which is wrapping the text along the path.
The text is usually distorted and away from the path.This is how I do it:
Tools -> Paths -> make the path on map by right clicking
left click on just made path -> Tools -> Text
right click on text -> click on Text Along Path
I'm a new GIMP user and, prior to this, my sole experience with a graphics program has been MS Paint. So be gentle.I am currently trying to make a logo. I have been using the Path tool to delete portions of the logo I don't want in the final picture. I used the Path tool several times, used "Select to path" to get a selection, then deleted the bits.
And there I am, merrily deleting away when alla the sudden, "Select to path" stops working. I make a closed-loop path, hit "Select to path", and...nada. No selection, nothing.
I am a licensed user of PaintShop Pro X3 with all current updates installed. Yesterday I purchased the ultimate bonus pack online ( Winzip,Painter Essentials, User Guide,KTP and Photolooks) from Corel.The photo looks plugin installed with no problem. The Corel KPT Collection (PSPPX3_KPT_01 set up file) would not install giving me the following error message"The path to the language folder could not be resolved, setup cannot continue".I use Win 7 64 bit

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am removing the background on a detailed object(s). I removed the initial part..the ants started marching. Then I pushed "control click", and started on another section..the ants started marching on that piece. Then I moved to my 3rd section doing the same. But when you click your final at your beginning on your 3rd section, the ants start marching there also..but you lose the sections you did previously. So I went to "undo", clicked that, and got my previous sections "back".
But my question is..how can I continue taking out the background in this picture...there are a lot of openings between arms and bodies etc., where I need to remove the background. I've tried removing the background on a detailed image one time before, and the same thing happened. Gimp will only allow you to remove so much, and if you try to remove more, it cancels out what you previously tried to remove...how can I continue removing the background on his image, being the image already has an alpha channel over it. If you try to continue after saving the present image to path/invert...you will lose the image your trying to save in the second process.

Process1. create a new background
2. make a circular selection
3. issue "select / to path" command
4. issue "select / none" command
5. create my text, 35 characters long on one line6. issue "text / along path" command
The text ALWAYS starts at the 12 o'clock position and is ALWAYS cut off at the 19th character! On the original circle the text cuts off at the 4 o'clock position.If I make the circle larger the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 2 o'clock
If I make the circle smaller the text is still cut off at the 19th character but: - It starts at 12 o'clock and is cut off at 6 o'clock..All the circles are large enough for all the text to print around their circumference.
Why the "Text along path" feature hovers the text so far above the currently active path? (in my case, the space between the path and the text is about 3 times the height of the currently used font!). I've been told that the letters should lie on top of or at least closer to the path instead. How can I move the text closer to the path?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to place text to a "curvy" path. I took some screen shots to show you want I'm talking about.
I created a simple curvy path 1 point on each end. (I noticed I drew in a node in the middle of the curve as well. But that actually doesn't exist in the path. I created the text a reasonable size and clicked "Text Along Path". As you can see, it never starts at the beginning of the path. Ever. I have sized the font up, and it gets a little closer to the beginning, but obviously the end of the address flies off the path. I've sized down the text and it will start even further to the middle of the path.
I have no problem getting my text along a path but I am having trouble getting the text and the path to align so that the center of the text element is centered on the path.
Is this possible or do I have to figure out someway to make my path of a certain length so it ends up that the text fits to it perfectly??
Here is a screenshot of my current problem. You can see that the text and the image below it are centered. I then placed some guide lines to make sure my path was also centered. When I placed that text along the path though, it left justified the text when I want it to be centered instead..
I am using Photoshop CS6. I am not in quickmask, I am using the essentials pallete I am creating a path not a shape, and I have a new blank layer selected. When I right click on my path, stroke path is available but it just won't do anything. I have been able to get it to work by going to my paths palette and selecting stroke path from there but that is a lot more time consuming.

We are having a problem with one of our clipping paths. Once we convert the image into a compression image for use, the image does not appear at all. No path, no image no nothing. Any idea why this happened? I know that the designer who worked on the original file used the incorrect "path area" selection (at the top) but changed that.
I've created a 23-minute video I want to burn to DVD in VS Pro 5...
At the point where I select BURN in the burning process, I get hit with a message telling me that my working folder path "may not have enough space" to allowing burning. The message advises me to change the working folder path in Preferences to enable burning. The message notes the working folder path as C:Users[My initials]DocumentsCorel Video Studio Pro15.0...
That path does exist on Drive C (where there's only around 5 Gig of space left), but when I go into Preferences to change the working folder, Preferences shows it having a path on Drive F (where there's 1.47 Terrabytes of space!)
So, how can I change the working folder path to Drive F from Drive C, when the project Preferences show the working folder path to be on Drive F, the the program itself claims the path to be on Drive C (and a search shows such a path)?

I am trying to animate png images along a path. I make the path as a mask to the object, and then copy the masks path to the objects position, and when I do the object moves somewhere off the camera view and the path is twice as big.

I know, I know, use "Text to Path" ... except that will not work in this case because the text I want to have go around the circle is not from a font, but drawn by me (my other other project; find a program for creating font files that I can afford to make a proper font so "Text to Path" would work).
So, I have a selection (and a path from that selection) that is basically the outline of the text I want to manipulate. I have another selection for the circle the text is supposed to go around. What is the (probably obvious) thing that I'm missing to get the text selection path to be drawn on the circle?

It's always the ntdll.dll. Im using win7 x64 with AMD Radeon HD 6900 series gpu. I have the latest drivers from AMD.
here is the question,basicly, i have a folder named "A", and this folder include 5 DWGs, named 1,2,3,4,5. "1" is the main DWG, so, 2,3,4,5 is attached or overlayed to main file. First step im copying this folder from server, and im pasting to my desktop.Im doing some modifications on xref files, and im uploading "A" folder to my friend's partage from local company server. its allright till here..
my collegue is copying this same folder "A" and opening main file, and main file reading another "3" file from his desktop... this is the problem. file names are same, and it has to be this way. i want to make the main file read from its own folder. we are using 2008, 2012.
I realized many people need code in a txt file so I have attached two from my previous posts.
Both are having the same problem where the code runs to completion but does not update the xrefs. I am still guessing there is some xref edit that I am missing other than database.xrefeditenabled
I draw a shape with the paths option using the shape tool,
ive selected and highlighted a visible normal layer at full opacity in normal blend mode.
right click the path and choose fill path... I have a colour selected already,
nothing happens...?
For some reason I am not able to modify the values for the paths. I am using ACA2011.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to add a stroke that's aligned to the outside of my path. It appears to be offsetting the stroke *and* moving anchor points at the same time. It does the same kind of thing when I align the stroke to the inside. It is fine when i align the stroke to center. The one that is offset to the top-left is the align-inside one.

I've finally done it, but it's going along the wrong part of the circle - I want it to go along the top and it's part way round - and I can't seem to find a way to move it along. I've tried several times but it does the same thing each time.
Also the text isn't showing in the right font, although it is in the text box. Am I missing something?

In PS, there is the ability to stroke inside, along the middle, or outside of the path.
How, in GIMP, can I select where the stroking occurs?
I've created a complicated polygon (hundreds of nodes) with the Paths Tool and am trying to fill it. When I select the Bucket Fill Tool, I get a tiny little error message at the bottom that reads: "Cannot modify the pixels of layer groups". Now then, I do have a Layer Group in the Layers tab to collect text items, but this is a Path in the Paths tab (which I thought was separate).
I have tried switching the path from Stroke to Selection, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
In the past, I've used Fireworks (mainly), Photoshop, and Illustrator with varying degrees of success.
I just downloaded GIMP 2.8 for Max Snow Leopard. I like a lot of the new features, particularly being able to use the one window feature.
I'm having some challenges with Text along path. I found it under the context menu okay. However, when I use it, only part of the words I'm trying to put on the selected path show up. I was using three words that amount to a total of 20 letters. The last half of the last word is getting cut off. I've tried several different things to no avail.
j pgs can contain paths info. In Photoshop you'll be able to get that path.
We use it a lot for packshots, this way we can save a JPG, but with an embedded outline Path, this way you'll always be able to "cut out" the packshot by selecting the path.
It does not work with gimp .
