AutoCAD .NET :: Working With Xrefs In C# Binding Or Changing Path

Feb 2, 2009

I realized many people need code in a txt file so I have attached two from my previous posts.

Both are having the same problem where the code runs to completion but does not update the xrefs. I am still guessing there is some xref edit that I am missing other than database.xrefeditenabled

AutoCAD Architecture :: Unusual Results When Binding Xrefs Using Insert Method

Aug 3, 2011

Using ACA 2012 and Windows 7 Pro x64. I have a drawing with two viewports. In one I'm showing the electrical layers and the base floor plan. In the other I'm showing casework and the base floor plan. All of the layers are contained in one xref so some are frozen in each viewport. When I bind that xref using the insert method (bindtype=1) some of the electrical layers show in the casework plan. I've tried everything I know of but I can't figure out how to surpress this behavior. If I use bindtype=0 the problem goes away but I end up with ugly layer names.

AutoCad :: Change Path Of XRefs

Jan 5, 2012

Over the break management has decided to change the way our files are named and pathed.

This has messed everything up with the ex-refs in CAD. Is there a way to change that saved paths for the ex-refs and reload, or do I have to start from scratch?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Reloading Xrefs After Updating Path

Jan 8, 2013

After some infrastructure changes, I need to repath all of my xrefs.  I know I can easily do this using the Reference Manager, and I have.  However, when I open the drawings that I have updated, the xref images (jpg, png, etc) do not display, but rather only show the image border.  I must then go into the External References pallette in each drawing and reload each reference.  This works fine, but it is awfully clunky, as I must do this for every drawing.

Is there a way I can batch reload these references after updating the path in Reference Manager?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Path Xrefs For A Moved Project Folder

What is the best method to re-path x-refs in a project whose folder has been moved. We are talking about 60-100 x-refs here. The originals were created in ACA 2009 and were not pathed relatively; nor was Project Navigator used. We are currently using ACA 2014.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Renaming Relative Path Xrefs?

Oct 12, 2011

I have set up a master set of dwg. files we use to create our construction documents.  The files consist of a master file that xrefs base files.  All of our files are named using the project # first. (i.e. 2011001c.dwg).  I have set up the master set using x's to replace the numbers.

Here is how it works:

XXXXXXXc.dwg (master file) relative path xref's the following files.
XXXXXXXlw.dwg
XXXXXXXvlw.dwg
XXXXXXXeg
XXXXXXXfg
XXXXXXXtitleblock

note:  all of these files are saved in the same folder.

I am trying to find a way to keep the xref paths working when I copy the files to a project folder and rename the files using the actual job # insead of the x's as place holders.  As it is now, when I change the drawing name the reference is lost and I have to manually change all of the xref paths in the xref manager.  Is there a command, program, or lisp routine than can change the file names and update the paths automatically.

AutoCad :: Changes Made To Lineweights Don't Stick When Working With Xrefs

Nov 1, 2011

I'm working with xrefs. As of yesterday, the "Display Lineweight" option was checked on all the files.

My process is, open the xref; find out the layer it (the object in question) is on, adjust that layer by using the LA command. I click on "open xref" and make my adjustments to the lineweights at that point. Then I click save changes, and a dialog box appears saying, this will save all the edit changes. At that point, (after indicating I want to save the changes,) the file reverts back to it's pre-edited state, before the lineweights were adjusted.

If the "Display Lineweights" option is checked, in a normal file, everything works as it should.

AutoCad :: Changing Reference Path

Oct 20, 2011

Quite often I will copy and paste some files out of an older project and move it to a new folder. Any file being x-ref'd is still pointing to the old location as it have saved the full path.

Is there a way to not let it save full path? When I copy and paste the files to the new folder I would like the x-ref's to default to the new location. If I cannot I need to detach several x-ref files and reattach them and rearrange it all again.

3ds Max Modeling :: Changing Loft Profile Part Way Along The Path?

May 23, 2012

I'm building a test track to use on a driving simulator.I'm trying to apply banking to the corners. The track's path is a loft with it's path defined as a line, and the loft shape is a rectangle to represent the cross section of the track. I'm trying to apply banking to the corner by using a different shape part way along the loft... however, the result is that the track twists the wrong way so that the top of the track becomes the side and vice versa.

GIMP :: Changing Paint Tool For Stroke Path

Mar 23, 2011

I've been having this problem changing the Paint Tool in the Stroke Path Dialog .

I'm using GIMP v2.6.11

First I stroke a path using the Paintbrush as the paint tool. Then I change the Paintbrush to Airbrush and try to stroke the same path and it seems like it's still using the Paintbrush (or even worse, it does nothing at all). Sometimes I reopen the stroke path dialog and it seems to have reverted back to the last paint tool I used (Paintbrush) and my Airbrush selection seems to have been completely ignored.

Currently if I want to stroke with different paint tools I have to do the following. Stroke with Paintbrush, stoke with Pencil and then undo (for some reason changing from the pencil tool doesn't have the problem), then stroke with Airbrush. I always have to do this intermediary step of stroking and undoing with a pencil to get the new paint tool to register.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Working On Edge Of MGA - Scale Factor Changing Slightly

Dec 2, 2013

I have a client who is working on the edge of a MGA coordinate zone - as they are near the edge of the zone their scale factor is large and needs to be factored in to all setouts (it makes 50mm of difference over 100 metres.)

their previous solution has been to work day to day at 1 to 1 scale and then xreference this back into a MGA projection by using a scale factor around a single point false origin.

As they are moving away from this false origin - the scale factor is changing slightly.

Is it possible to create a user grid at 1 to 1 for the day to day use and then query this into a MGA drawing. via ADEQUERY to bring it back to MGA ?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Colours Of Text Changing To White And Monochrome Plot Not Working?

Nov 3, 2013

My problem is that all of my dimensions and text have changed colour to white, with my by layer colour as an outline of the text, the arrows and lines still look correct however. I put the dimensions on a seperate layer and this seemed to happen after hiding this layer then later unhiding it. I have looked through the properties to change the colour unsuccessfully.

On another note, the monochrome print option does not work when creating a plot - it will still create it in colour. What can I do to sort these issues? It is fustrating as all I really need to do with this drawing is to export the it for a report and it looks messy!
