I want to create a logo to put on my web page. I want to type in 5 or 6 words then make everything but the words transparent, and save as a png (or maybe giff). Have tried in Gimp but no luck so far.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTrying to set up a datamerge file to create multi page spread documents with fields on different pages. Attempting to set it up so it's as automated as possible as there are up to 20 different merge documents needing to merge with up to 100 different csv records from the same file each week . The merge documents have different and repeated merge fields on most pages.
I've set it up so that the document has facing pages, and most pages have images spread across the whole of the spread. the pages preview fine, they are created ok when using 'Create Merged Document' although the page numbers continue from one document to another (another problem). but when I come to export to pdf, then the merge only shows the image on the left spread but on both left and right spread single pages, and the page numbers don't show the correct page numbers eg it will go p1 p2 p1 p2 etc all the way through the document instead of p1 p2 p3 - p20 etc. I don't want to have to merge first then pdf but can't understand why the images and page numbers are not showing correctly.
Several times a week I need to take a PDF (single-page doc), then convertto a page-sized PNG with quality good enough to read the text (and atransparent border), and then convert to a SWF. I have a PNG-to-SWFutility, but when I used it on the PNG saved after I opened my PDF andexported from GIMP, the end result was not good enough. A co-worker saidGIMP couldn't make a PNG (w/transparency) with enough quality. He said we'dhave to use some other software. Part of the issue was not being able toresize without losing quality before the PNG export. True or false?

I'm playing around here in Axis with the surface set to Bicubic but I'm moving around the corners and handles and can't really achieve a realistic look. To explain this as easy as possible. I want to achieve the following.
Create a shape.Create a letter via a type layer.Creating a clipping mask of the type layer so it appears inside the shape.Make the text layer a transparent shape. So regardless of the background I put it on the letter will always appear as if it is a cut out of the shape.
I want to do all of the above while keeping the shape and the text layer vector objects. I do not know Adobe Illustrator, so this is my only route.

Choose the Magic Wand tool , making sure "contiguous" is checked in the Options bar. Select the rectangle under "Monochromatic (Single Hue)". Press Alt+Backspace (Windows) or Option+Delete (Mac OS) to fill the selection with the foreground color.Â
#Open the Color Picker and select two values of your base color. Apply your color selections to the "Values" swatches.
Next, select two intensities, and apply to the "Intensities" swatches.
Now that you've got your color palette, combine the colors into a swatch set. Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to draw stripes and fill with the colors you've selected above. This is a space to experiment with how the colors look next to each other.
Ready for the fun part? Make a selection around the client logo using the Rectangular Marquee tool. The logo has been separated into layers to make color application easy. First, apply color to the "bg" layer. Sample a color swatch using the Eyedropper tool , then press Alt/Option-Backspace to fill with color.
Keeping the selection active, click the "top curves" layer. Sample a color with the Eyedropper tool, then press Alt / Option-Backspace. Move on to the "middle curves" layer. Select a color, and fill.

As you can see, there are several darker and several lighter pixels inside the text, forming a great looking texture that isn't a single color. My question is, how can I recreate this texture, having some darker and some lighter pixels?
Also, what would be the best way to recreate the wind effect? I tried using wind, but that winds out the entire text rather than just the bottom of each letter.
I have a simple JPG file that is a black and white logo, which I want to change the colour properties of in Gimp. But the colour range isn't true black and white, so using all sort of different methods such as magic wand selection, colour to alpha etc results in either really messy looking images or a lot of faffing around to correct the final image.

I've seen 'morph' plugins that essentially let you set points around an object that correspond to the same points after the pic is 'morphed'. What I'm looking for is a plugin that would allow me to map the straight-on view of the new logo with the points corresponding to the existing 'wrapped' logo to produce a realistic logo.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small logo (92x80 image) that I want to round the corners on. There seems to be two ways to do this. One is the filter/decor method, but this is greyed out in my menu. The other is select/rounded rectangle; I can do this one but I can't get it to complete the procedure. After selecting "rounded rectangle", I can see the dashed lines going around the rounded corners. But I can't get the rounded image to save - it saves as the original rectangle not rounded.
What am I missing? The on-line GIMP manual does not explain what needs done. I tried carriage return after selecting rounded rectangle, but that does nothing. I also tried every crop method I could find. I've spent about three hours trying to get the rounded corners.
I am probably missing something simple. Do I need to create layers - a transparent layer? I am not sure exactly how to do that.
I wanted to try out was to make a logo fit a sphere, in particular a picture of a lens. Was hoping to get that magnified effect to the logo, I'm trying to make a film society where I live and figured this would make a good poster .
