Lightroom :: 4 - How To Find Images Preset History
Nov 28, 2012I am using Lightroom 4 and developed a picture in it last week. I saved the picture onto my desktop and sent it to my client. She loved the way it looked and wants other pictures to look the same way (tone/cold color, etc). I did not save the history as a preset before I exported it out. How can I get the history back from when I worked on it last week? Is it stored in the pictures data somewhere or do I have to try and recreate the image adjustments??

Oct 20, 2012I used Dup Finder (plugin) to find duplicate pictures in my LR catalog. I then erased them through Lightroom. what I didn't realize is that Dup Finder puts both the otiginal file and the duplicate in a smart collection. I errased everything from that folder, so now I have missing photos and I don't know all the file names. Is there any way to recover these photos or at the very least find a history of changed to a catalog or collection (I have online backups of my photos, so if I know the file name, I can get them).

Dec 10, 2012Background: My job requires that I print vinyl cut letters and shapes. I do this by creating a cut contour path in illustrator with a spot color as a stroke, so that once printed, there will be instructions on the print showing where to cut and the cutter will recognize the marks.
My problem is that, for some reason, the cutter is going back over the cut path a 2nd time, as if there is more than one cut contour path in the file. But looking at the eps file in Illustrator, I don't see any extra overlapping paths with another stroke. It just looks like there is one pink line that there are actually extra cut paths that the cutter is reading that I don't know about. Is there a way for me to either A) find all of the paths and turn off the spot color swatch on all of them and just apply it to the one I need or B) find all paths and delete overlapping ones that I don't need?
getting extra overlapping cut paths in different Layers(?) I'm just really not sure what to do or how to find these and weed them out.

Nov 16, 2013I've noticed that when I use the color picker and then go to the color selection menu, sometimes the color shows up in the color history as only filling the upper left diagonal of the box and the lower right diagonal appears to be transparent.
why this happens and whether I can/should convert the color to filling the entire history box?

Then went to brushes with black as my foreground color, I just wanted to brush away the blur, and got an error message. Mar 24, 2013Everytime I try to use my history brush, that error pops up and I have no clue why. If I try to just open a blank document and use the brush it does not give me this error and I can "use" the brush but you cant see anything on the project.
so when this error happens im trying to do a project and say I place a file(picture) into the project and this is the very first thing I do. I place it, then I size the image down some. I then make a new layer to use the brush for behind the picture and then this is when I get the error. I have no clue what is wrong

Jul 15, 2013I have a PSD which has a layer with a path (vector) on it. In Photoshop this can be manipulated as a path/vector. In GIMP it is just treated as a bitmap. I can see how I can draw new paths, but it doesn't seem to be recognizing the imported path. Is there something I need to do to make it recognize the paths?

Jun 27, 2012I can't get the path tool to give me handles. I create a path with two points and when I grab the segment and drag it the anchors move with it. This used to work fine where the anchors would stay and the dotted lines and handles would pop out and I could manipulate the handles. I recently reloaded my system so has something changed? I'm using the latest stable Debian and it looks like Gimp 2.6 is loaded.

Aug 24, 2012I've worked out how to use paths, so I can make text appear along a curve which is great. My problem is that I have a logo and I want text curving around the top of it, and then some text curving around the bottom (curving upwards). There is more text on the top curve so it fills the entire path, but the text at the bottom is shorter and so it doesn't reach the end, it justifies to the left of the path. How do I position it so that it aligned to the centre of the path (it doesn't necessarily have to take up the entire length of the path, I just want it to be central to the logo above it.

May 14, 2012I cannot bring up Layers, Channels, or Paths. Running Gimp 2.6.10 on a Windows 7 machine. Selecting Windows...Dockable Dialogs...Layers or Channels or Paths does not bring up a new dialog window. Also there is nothing in Windows...Recently Closed Docs
This occurs regardless of image file opened. Not sure how long this has been the situation as I have not been using gimp on the computer where this problem is occurring for a couple months. Am not an advanced user though have used it occasionally for years. All other Selecting Windows...Dockable Dialogs... actions bring up window boxes normally. Tab does toggle display for the Toolbox etc. Just Layers, Channels, or Paths have an issue and I suspect it may have occurred because they were sharing the same window box. I did reset Preferences.
I am able to readily create layers on top of a base image but without the dialog box, only have access to the last one created. Also can merge down the last new layer or flatten the image. My suspicion is gimp may be displaying the dialog box at XY coordinates beyond my monitor screen displayable coordinates. There is a configuration file that saves the last used settings that I can simply delete?

It's not very useful in my case. I have an image with several layers and a bunch of paths related to different layers. So I need to export only paths which "belong" to a selected layer, so to speak. Of course, I can edit SVG by hands, but I wonder if some decent tools there exist for this task.

I like GIMP and it's stable nature along with everything else... in addition to allot of standard photo editing and graphics creation, I recently used it for some of the animation filters, which are nice.
The only problem I'm having is that when I create a path, or multiple paths, and have them in the paths palette, after I save and close the file that contains the paths, the next time I open that file my paths are gone... completely disappeared.
