GIMP :: How To Prevent Document History From Emptying
Jan 15, 2014In the past few weeks, Document History completely empties itself without me clicking the Clear button. I haven't detected any rhyme or reason to this. How to stop it?

View 2 RepliesI am constantly opening documents and moving them around on my screens. I never remember this problem in CS4, but in CS5 when I try to move a document by clicking in the top gray bar and dragging, the document often minimizes and goes hides in the Mac bar at the bottom.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow to prevent someone from saving the doucment as PDF? I don't see any API regarding this. Is it doable or not in illustrator CS5?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed PaintShop Pro X6 and started playing with it. Somehow I ended up with a bunch of pictures in my Organizer Palette. (I don't know how.) How do I empty it? I opened some pictures after these initial ones were in there and they DIDN'T show up in the Organizer Palette.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a camera I like, but a problem with it. I took a few indoor photos and it took awhile to get enough light arranged for them. When I put the camera's SD card in the card reader and looked at the photos they looked great. I copied the photos to a folder then deleted everything on the card to get it ready for the next photos.
Then when I look at the photos from the desktop folder, they are much darker. I don't do this a lot but it has happened at least once before, and I think it does that all the time. Possible to just lighten photos with Gimp?
I did find a page that said you could, but it is probably an old page, at brighten dark photo with Gimp. It instructs me to Quote:Duplicate the original image layer in the layers dialog. Change the Mode of this duplicated layer to Value -mode to use this layer for a retouching brightening of colors.
When I create a duplicate layer, click on image, hover over mode, none of the options are value. Maybe that was for an older version of Gimp? The page doesn't have a date which isn't nice.
What the problem might be between the Canon view, and the windows 7 view? Is there something I can tweak in 7?
Edit: I found it in the colors > brightness and contrast, but maybe I can leave this up in case someone knows how to stop the darkening from happening in the first place. The photo quality isn't as good as it was in the Canon folder.
I have made a couple pretty nice text images, for friends, and myself. Many times this text image will have a border and consequently a transparency along a corner of the image because they are not always perfectly rectangle.
The problem is the images keep saving with a fine white line at the corner's of my image. How can I make this sharper so it doesn't have this white edge that stands out from the image?
Is there a way to prevent edits to transparent layers? I have a very frequent problem where I change visibility on a layer but neglect to change the active layer and end up making unwanted edits that I can't even see the results of. Sometimes this means I don't manage to undo these changes while I still can!
There is never a case where I want to make changes to a layer I can't see (making changes without knowing what they are is the opposite of useful). Is there an option somewhere to prevent this?
Also, is there a way to set visibility and set the active layer in a single click or keystroke? Part of the problem is having to always remember to do two things.
Is there an option to set no active layer I make the active layer invisible?
I download the Gimp 2.8 and have a lot of prolems with it.... Today I can´t find the history of the paths. Where is it? I can´t use path two times if I need. Sweet Gimp 2.6...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when I use the color picker and then go to the color selection menu, sometimes the color shows up in the color history as only filling the upper left diagonal of the box and the lower right diagonal appears to be transparent.
why this happens and whether I can/should convert the color to filling the entire history box?
When I croped image to make a background for my web, I couldn't return back to first size - history was empty. All layers(about 30) have 192px*1px now. What I have to do?!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to learn layers and layer masks. I loaded an image, than control J to duplicate it. I then added a layer mask. Everything good so far. I then went to filters chose a blur. Then went to brushes with black as my foreground color, I just wanted to brush away the blur, and got an error message. "could not use the history brush because the history state does not have a corresponding layer."
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I try to use my history brush, that error pops up and I have no clue why. If I try to just open a blank document and use the brush it does not give me this error and I can "use" the brush but you cant see anything on the project.
so when this error happens im trying to do a project and say I place a file(picture) into the project and this is the very first thing I do. I place it, then I size the image down some. I then make a new layer to use the brush for behind the picture and then this is when I get the error. I have no clue what is wrong
I can only see how to delete the entire history in the history panel. Is there a way I can remove only selected states? I am using LR 1.4.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?
I'm having a problem performing the most basic task - erasing. This seems crazy that I'm having such a problem with this.
I have opened a pdf document in Gimp 2.8 for Windows. Then I:
- choose 'Tools'
- then, 'Paint Tools'
- then, 'Eraser'
Once I try to start erasing some of the black text on a pure white background, the eraser has a 'checkered' pattern. So instead of erasing in 'white', the tool erases with a checker pattern. See the attached photo.

I have created a document, and when I printed it out to see how it turned out, I noticed that I left margins on all four sides. I need the document to fill the page in its entirety, as it is going to be one of those "tear off the phone number at the bottom" type of advertisements.
Is there some way that I can "zoom in" everything that I've created, so it fills an entire 8.5x11 piece of paper?
I'll keep digging while I wait for the wisdom of the forums. Here is a link to the .xcf: [URL] .....
I'm trying to get more than one image into a gimp document, resize them and print off on one page. Currently, I need six pictures, but the number will go up and down depending on what I'm doing.

View 3 Replies View Related I am working on a 44-page document, opening a pdf in GIMP. I've never done anything like this before yet have taught myself how to work page to page, insert images between the text blocks on each page, resize the images and position them where I want, even in more than one layer. (That in a couple of days, me a novice! HOWEVER, after working hours on my project, thinking I was saving as I went, I discovered after the fact that I was only saving the highlighted page, not the entire document. I lost all my work, twice! Luckily I had only gotten through page 7.
The project requires me to need to see all the pages, sometimes to backtrack to reposition an image in order to achieve a consistent flow. At the end I will save as a pdf, flattening all images. In the interim, I need to be able to get back in, day-to-day, to continue the detailed work.
PS. I'm using Gimp 2.8 on a MacBook 10.6.8. And yes I know to save as .xcf while the work's in progress.
I am new to gimp and after using the program yesterday afternoon I went in to do some more work on the document and got the following error message: "Error loading PSD file: Unsupported Compression Mode: Error #43775. How to get this file opened? I was Opening As Layers.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI take a picture of a document (text printed on a white piece of paper), which I then load in gimp. There, I can rotate, rescale and cut out the document. What I want to do in addition is to whiten the background, so it looks like if I had used a copy-machine to scan the document.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open CS4, it crashes with out an error message box coming up. The second attempt, it crashes with the message box saying, Error 150:30, Licensing for this product has stopped working.
I then have to go to the hard drive > library > application support > Flexnet publisher and delete it. I then can open up CS4 and it stays open. I have had to do this procedure for many months. I am using Mac OS.6.8. Is there a way of preventing CS4 from crashing without having to go through this procedure?

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen I save them they loose alot of their color intencity when opened in Firefox. They still look great in Safari and in Mac OS X previewer, but in Firefox they look pale. I've read alot about this, and have been told to change the color settings from Adobe RGB to sRGB (and then convert old images to that colorspace) but this doesn't work. Why is it that (for exemple) Apple can make their images look the same in Firefox/Safari when I can't (see images below),
The image with fire is mine, the other is obviously Apple's.. how do I get my images to look the same in all browsers (as Apple do)?
Is there a way to do this without un-installing?
