I'm wondering if it's possible to find the point where two paths WOULD intersect, or possibly a way to "join by two paths", I want to join 2 paths by continuing them to the point where they would naturally meet. I've included an image.

I'm trying to crate an anchor point on an intersection of two paths. Not by 'joining paths' (as that joins them from the ends); I just want to join two paths in such a way that an anchor point is crated at the point where they intersect. That's how it works in Flash, but I can't figure it out in AI. I created an image to clarify what I'm trying to achieve.

View 15 Replies View RelatedBackground: My job requires that I print vinyl cut letters and shapes. I do this by creating a cut contour path in illustrator with a spot color as a stroke, so that once printed, there will be instructions on the print showing where to cut and the cutter will recognize the marks.
My problem is that, for some reason, the cutter is going back over the cut path a 2nd time, as if there is more than one cut contour path in the file. But looking at the eps file in Illustrator, I don't see any extra overlapping paths with another stroke. It just looks like there is one pink line that there are actually extra cut paths that the cutter is reading that I don't know about. Is there a way for me to either A) find all of the paths and turn off the spot color swatch on all of them and just apply it to the one I need or B) find all paths and delete overlapping ones that I don't need?
getting extra overlapping cut paths in different Layers(?) I'm just really not sure what to do or how to find these and weed them out.
I'm trying to write a command that breaks polylines / lines along a polyline. Is there any way to
A. Find all intersection points of two polylines?
B. Break the polyline at points gained previously?
I'm running 2002 and I have a drawing with an array of lines (forms a grid ceiling, actually). With OSNAP on I cannot grab the intersection of these lines, however, it does work on other lines in the drawing, as it usually does.

I am trying to create an intersection design using the Intersection Tools in C3D 2012. I followed the steps in the tutorials, created a corridor on the major road, splitted the regions, created the intersection and added it to the major road corridor, and connect the regions with the intersection portion.
I used the same assembly throughout the design just for simplicity, however, i notice that there are gaps of curb between the curb return section and the through section (as outline in red rectangles).
Is it possible to find intersection poit of the anchor point and any point on path?
Like on a picture, there are an anchor poit from a line, which intersects arc path, and I need to find intersection poit on the arc (can be line) path. Thus I can do further processing for arc after intersection - change position, set color etc.
I suppose I need to divide that arc path and that will be the best way, but all I need for this moment extract point before intersection and after and process in our custom preview. Is there way to find this intersection?
I'm seriously stuck trying to join 3 open paths with stroke only, into something of an intersection that is dividing 3 pie slots. However I can't join more than 2 of them, as the screenshot below the third one gets left behind, Join command doesn't work Because I have the opacity down to 70% you can see the ugly overlap in the intersection and I need to join all the 3 points for them to look as they should. If/how this can be done in Illustrator?

It works fine when I turn off the visibility of the layer the file is on but I am trying to "trace" over the image with line segments. Also, when covering up a flaw I can not get the color to match. I have used the color picker and chosen the area closest to the area I am trying to cover up and it is still not working out.
On a many layered photo, I used to be able to highlight a layer by touching it, so I could edit the layer. Now I can't highlight the layer unless I scroll down on the layers tool on the side bar. This is hard to do with some of my larger projects.
