I am trying to calculate the area of the attached file. Just the Blue section. Is there a faster way to calculate the area than using the "area" command, then going through and selecting each line, then each arc, over and over again? I also tried making a poliline that follows the entire pattern at the width I wanted, then using the "area" command for the "object" that is the poliline. This is faster, but does not give me the correct area. It says that the calculated area does not take into consideration the width of the poliline. The width of the poliline is very important in my application, and will sometimes be changed. Than a new area will be needed with the new width.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been dealing with a tolerance issue when trying to create room area calculations in Revit. There seems to be a tolerance that is set to somewhere under 9" if two walls are to close together it will ignore the area.
Although if you are using the area calculation this tolerance is set much finer. and it seems to work just fine. I have already tried to create a multicategory schedule but cant combine rooms and areas. I have attached an image .
I am using autocad to find areas of a stream cross section such that when we take a water height measurement of the stream in the field, we can easily get the area from a spreadsheet since the cross section of the stream at any height will be known (once I get done in AutoCAD).
To further illustrate my needs, I have attached a picture. I need all the seperate areas between the red lines (the red lines are equally spaced vertically and have lengths that go end to end to the edges of the stream).
I have been hatching between the red lines and taking the areas of each hatched object. However, this is a slow and tedious process.
Hatching is not the issue because I can hatch multiple objects at once using the create seperate hatch option.
What I need is a way to list all the hatched object's areas into a text file so that I can easily copy and paste them into an excel file. Even if it is not a nice and neat list, I can atleast use a find for "area" to get them into a nice list a little faster.
Any routine or tool that simplifies calculating and labeling floor areas?
Currently, I draw a polyline around the desired area, list it to get the square footage and then create a text line and type in the square footage. This method takes multiple steps and is easy to mistype the area.
I would love a simple tool that would let you draw a polyline and automatically label it for you.
how to calculate the gross area of a portion of a building - it is about one-third of one floor of the entire building but is comprised of several rooms. I need this for both tenant area and for figuring the area of insulated floors for purposed of energy-code analysis.
Is there a way of just going about it the old AutoCAD way via a P-Line? I know there are no P-Lines in Revit, but is there an easy way of doing this?
I am relatively new to AutoCAD LT and I am constructing floorplans and measuring the area in m2. My problem is that my areas are not adding up correctly. We are investigating possible future redesigning of units, and although the outer boundary of the building is the same, when I add up the individual units this total area does not add up correctly. While trying to figure out what was going on I traced one unit exactly on another layer and compared areas between the two identical polygons....and they have different areas!?!?!?

Between the measurements I calculated volume. But I want calculate the quantities what is inside of the original ground level, what is outside that I want to exclude from the calculations. There is a way how to crop that surfaces to match with the original ground level?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHow to changes the settings for the "Square Area" in mapcheck's closure summary. When I right-click the dwg name in the Settings tab of Toolspace and choose Edit Drawing Settings, then Ambient Settings, I see the Area settings, but in the closure summary, there is also "Square Area". Why are these both there? It WOULD be nice to show sq. ft. as well as acres, but I can't find anywhere to edit it.

I have the following psd file which my designer provided for me:
It's made up of all layers and smart objects and all stuff I have no clue about it. I need to make it so only the bubble is isolated, and everything else is eliminated (i.e. the character and the three bubbles going from his head are gone). Cropping almost works, but as you can see at the bottom the bubble if I try to do a rectangular crop it will catch some of the characters head and the three bubbles.
If I want to calculate the square mm of an area, how do I do so? I know this should be really simple but I can't get the results I want. Let's say I have a rectangle (2D) and I draw somew circles and polylines within it that are 'cut out' from the rectangle....how does one calcualte the remaining square mm?
View 9 Replies View Relatedhow the area calculation works for finding the square footage of a dwg.
I can easily get a rough estimate of square footage on L X W....but when i use the area measuring tool, i get total inches and a total sq foot estimate of 1.7xxxxx which i don't understand.
I create a square, 300px by 300px. I duplicate the square, resize to 200px by 200px. Highlight both, press Ctrl-F4 and remove the inside box. What I have left looks like a picture frame. Is there a way to shadow the inside area? (the part I cut out)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to obtain the sqare footage of an area with the AREA command. A list would generate about seven or eight lines, listing the square footage, inches, perimeter etc.
Now all i see is one line; the area/perimeter (see attachment). Did i change a setting somewhere to obtain this simplify version of the AREA cmd? Something is not right...
I tried the MASSPROP and MEASURE GEOM, those will not show the square footage. This used to be so easy, what am i missing...
In Civil 3D 2013, when I execute the _area command, i get results in square feet as opposed to acres. Under the ambient settings, the area unit is set to acre. how to get C3D to display my area in acres? I just want it to list the area, not label it.
Also, is there a way to get it to display the area in BOTH acres and square feet?
I would like to be able to draw squares by the area they should have. So that if I need a square of 50m2 autocad automatically draws a square of sqrt(50) x sqrt(50)
Because right now I have to draw 200 squares with 100 different areas and I have to calculate and manually draw each one of them.
I was just wondering why when I try and calculate an area using a polyine, I am getting a readout of 1.80401967E+07, when I have it set to give me the calculation in square feet? It is an area of approx. 246 Acres.....is this because the area is so large? I am not sure what the "E" stands for or the "+07" at the end....
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to get the Area option of the rectangle command to work in square feet rather than square inches?
View 9 Replies View RelatedOut of nowhere my AutoCAD commands such as line, offset, circle, etc will only work if i type in the amount in inches. I use feet / inches when i use these commands. It says specify second point... Not sure what this means. For example I want to offset a line 15'-8". It won't let me do that. If i offset a line at 146" it lets me do it.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently had to buy a new computer and re-install CorelDraw X5. I've been using the software for about 3 years now to run a laser engraver, so I'm not new to dealing with vectors. For some reason though when I draw something like a square, click "convert to curves", then right click the segment I was to delete, the delete option is grayed out and the only thing I can do is add a node. I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong or if it's a setting somewhere they didn't get checked off when I installed the software.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering why, all of a sudden, the pasteboard area around the page is tied directly to the page. Example: If I draw full-scale out in the pasteboard area on page #1, then go to page # 2 or whatever, everything in the pasteboard area disappears. In a multi-page document this is really a problem as I have to click on every page to find out where my full scale drawing is. It wasn't always like this. What ever was out in the pasteboard area was always visible no matter what page I'm on. This is something new and it's very inconvienient. How do I reset so the pasteboard is unaffected by which page I'm on?
