CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Precise Node Edits / Additions

Nov 14, 2012

I am creating a object that will involve creating tangent lines between two circles.  Then, I will need to cut out the curves of the circles so the end shape is like an eggshell or the travel of a rope between two pulleys.

What I am doing, is creating the tangent lines, coloring them green (so I can see the end of the tangent line), making sure the line is arranged on top.  Then selecting the circle and the node edit and adding a node where the tangent line ends at extreme magnification.  Delete the unneeded nodes on the circles so it forms the "end shape."  Then I select both objects, then the node editing tool, select both nodes (end of tangent line and node on end of former circle), and join the curves with the option that joins the curve over the space (this is the part that bugs me).

When I do this, I still notice a slight space between the tangent line and where I added the node to cut the circle.  Is there anyway normally with x6, or with a macro, that can place the new node accurately?  For instance, wherever the center-lines of the curves/lines meet/intersect?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Can't Delete Any Segment Out Of Square / Shape

Oct 3, 2013

I recently had to buy a new computer and re-install CorelDraw X5. I've been using the software for about 3 years now to run a laser engraver, so I'm not new to dealing with vectors. For some reason though when I draw something like a square, click "convert to curves", then right click the segment I was to delete, the delete option is grayed out and the only thing I can do is add a node. I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong or if it's a setting somewhere they didn't get checked off when I installed the software.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Can't Export Large Drawing With Raster Graphics

Jul 21, 2013

i´m using CRD since X3 so I think i´m quite experienced with all the crashes and uncompatibilities but now I have a problem which I can´t solve.

I made a graphic project which is quite large (2,6m x 2,0m @ 300dpi) and including raster grahics. The CDR file itself has about 400MB. When I tried to export this graphic to the png or jpg at the current size Corel X5 always crashes. I tried almost everything on many computers but always the same problem.

It looks like the project is too large for export. At this moment I desperately need to export the file to jpg or png at full resolution.  Maybe X6 is more stable when exports or I have to simplify the project somehow but...

FILE IS UPLOADED here and I need to have it 2,6m x 2,0m: [URL]

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Drawing With Mesh Fill?

Aug 22, 2011

Never did anything with mesh fill till today. Did some reading on it here over the past few days and did a drawing using only mesh fills, 1 for subject and 1 for background. I spent about 2 hours on it. I'm calling it "Lumpy-Bottle"

Is there a good way to assign grid node coordinates, other then free hand(I couldn't find a display for node coordinates) . Could you use a cad program, that displays a numeric coordinate for nodes to do the bulk of the grid work and tune it up or add different elements to cad drawing or use cad to do this type of drawing. I have a copy of "Turbo Cad" I have not used yet and was wondering how the different programs compared? I was trying to use the drawing grid guide, but the mesh fill grid lays on top of it and is opaque and and I couldn't use it well inside the mesh fill. I guess I could draw a transparent grid guide and lay it on top of the mesh fill, in a separate layer and lock it down

Is there some kind of guide or document  on color placement and the relationship to grid line spacing, node placement and node handle angle and length.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Tracing Imported DXF Drawing?

Apr 8, 2012

I have imported a 2d drawing of a vehicle into coral draw x5 from auto cad. Problem is that when I zoom in all the lines do not seem to be joined especially curves, this in turn makes it a pain when filling with colour. I have recently traced one side manually using line and curve tools but my question is, is there s quicker way of tracing a dxf without manually doing it? And if so how to do it?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Drawing A Line Of Varying Thickness?

Apr 30, 2011

As an exercise I'm trying to recreate the leaf image in the X5 guidebook ( pages 127 & 128). No problems until I came to drawing the yellow "veins" on the face of the leaf. I need to create lines that start off thin, get thicker in the middle and go back to thin at the other end.

I managed to create the effect by drawing a closed , filled object, and then playing around using the shape tool to achieve the desired result..

Is there a better, quicker way to do this. I tried doing it using the artistic tools but no luck there.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: Drawing Rail Road Tracks?

Jul 18, 2011

I am trying to see if there is a way of distributing equally spaced lines along a curved guideline. Now there is a function to make text follow a guideline and curve in all different angles. What I want to do is the same thing but with strait lines. Is there a way to do it?

Let’s say I am doing a little model railroading and want to draw out my topographic layout first. Now think of a set of winding scale model rail road tracks with wooden rail cross tracks between the metal rail tracks. Now if my actual scale is 1 in = 10 ft and each cross track needs to be exactly 4 ft apart and the winding track has several twist and turns over a 200 in range. Because each twist and turn is made to both accomplish the turning of the track as well as to avoid obstacles, using the radius tool may not always be the best bet. In an ideal world the best way would be to take a strait track and distribute the cross tracks at 4 ft increments and then try to bend the track. However this would cause other problems and throw off the scale. The best way would be to align the perpendicular lines to the curvature of the track. Now if the track had several "S" turns, odd angled curves, or complex reverse turns, it would take forever to space the tracks evenly and cross tracks at equal distances all along the track even when using the radius tool or building in sections and then merging lines.

If there was a way to evenly space lines along a curved guide then I would not need to spend hours setting up radius and drawing lines that need to be deleted or cut short. Equal spaced lines can be accomplished along a straight line using the Align/Distribute function. Though this still has problems when distributing along angles let alone along a curve.

I am trying to somewhat avoid the radius function and lean more towards shaping a compound image set between two parallel lines and one or more perpendicular lines.
