I use this feature often, but I'm not sure I fully understand it, because I don't know what the number setting (1-100) refers to, and I can't find an explanation of it.
Usually I'll select all the nodes in an object and move the slider to the right until I can get as many nodes to disappear as it will let me. (I don't worry so much about distorting the object because I like to do the final shaping manually using as few nodes as possible...) and I find that at a certain point on the scale it won't reduce further, so at that point I remove the remaining unwanted nodes by hand.
My question is, does the 1-100 scale refer to the percentage of nodes that are removed, and what's the reason it won't go beyond a certain percentage?
Sometimes when I power trace a bitmap there are so many nodes that i spend too much time getting rid of them all...It would be nice if I could get the "reduce nodes" feature to remove more.
How to equalize the nodes distance between the curve to apply the brush after making them break apart since here as per the curve size and direction nodes are distributed unequally. how to make them equally aligned.
Color nodes are blue by defaut. When I draw something with blue, I would like having red nodes, or another color. I guess there is a set-up for that, but I realy don't find it.
I've been using CorelDRAW X6 for a bit now (upgraded from X5), and I've noticed a few caveats so far.
1. Align nodes
When trying to align nodes, there seems to be some interesting behavior for alignment. When shift + clicking directly on the nodes, and then selecting Align nodes and performing an align operation (such as Horizontal), the nodes will all align to the last one selected.
However, if you perform the same operation, and marquee select each node individually, then it will always align to the same node. It doesn't seem to matter on which order you do it in.
Steps to reproduce on my end:- Open a new CorelDRAW X6 document- Draw a new object using the Freehand tool with multiple node points- Edit the shape using the Shape tool- Select multiple nodes by holding Shift+dragging around the nodes- Align nodes, see which node it aligns to- Undo Align nodes, redo the same selection but different order- Align nodes, should align back to the same node regardless of the order
Is this to be expected? In CorelDRAW X5 it seems to go to the last node selected, regardless of marquee selection or click selection, unless this behavior was changed for some particular reason. Would just like to know if it's just me doing something wrong here.
2. Color docker
For the Color docker, there seems to be an issue that is mostly cosmetic, but it is noticeable. When the Color docker is open and docked, switching from a palette to color viewers resizes the palette on reselect.
Steps to reproduce on my end:- Open CorelDRAW X6, start a new document, enable the Color docker and dock it- Switch to a Palette (such as Pantone)- Restart CorelDRAW X6 to ensure that it is properly sized, and start a new document- In the Color docker, select another tab, such as the Show color viewers- Select back the Palette. All of the boxes should be oversized and the whole docker should now be larger than normal- Restart CorelDRAW X6 and it will return to normal until another tab is selected again.
One last thing about the Color docker. Is there any reason in particular that the Eyedropper Tool from the left hand menu is discrete? I realize that an Eyedropper tool has been added to the Color docker (threw me off initially), and that only seems to change the color within the docker, but it would be nice to have the same options from before with the main Eyedropper tool (1, 2x2, 5x5, etc) that was available before.
Note: I am using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 6.1 (CorelDRAW version 16.1.0.843) 64-bit.
I am considering upgrading to X5 because I have been told there is a new tool to join nodes into a solid fill able object. I have many drawings that have been sent to me in .dxf format where in all nodes are broken. I use X4 currently and can individually join nodes in order to get an object "joined" and will fill. In order to do this it often takes many hours of selecting each set of seperate nodes and joining them . When all objects will fill then then I save the .dxf in native.cdr format.
I am unable to select nodes and edit or delete them when using an envelope. I double-click or click and drag, and nothing happens. What do I need to do?
Make an object (eg an hexagon), and resize it from it's center radially, by dragging a node (and not those black squares). What I got so far, is, using the pick tool, clicking on it to go to rotation mode, hold shift and ctrl, clicking on a node (eg, from a point or the middle of a side), and dragging it.
It works IF i change it's angle, but strangely, if I keep the same angle (just resizing it), nothing happens, neither it gets resized, neither i can clone it (with right mouse click). It only keeps a blue shadow of what would be the object, without doing nothing.
What I want to do with this is, for example, create a square and an hexagon inside it, allign one of it nodes with a node of the square, and resize the hexagon by draggin another node of it until it touch (using snap to objects) another side/node of the square. As I said, it can be done if I resize by the rotation, but only if I change the angle, wich is strange for me.
Am I missing something? It's really weird that I can almost do this without problems, but then nothing happens at all. I wish I could show this visually, would be way better to explain the problem.
If there is an easier way to outline a JPEG image instead of changing the nodes. I am looking at a lot of pictures to do this with and can not possibly change the nodes with all of them.
Trying to recreate logo. Traced text. The text is too rough. I've selected it, click the shape tool, and the Smoothing bar does not work. It stays at "0" and does not effect the selected curve.
I've tried just drawing a shape with jagged edges and the Smoothing bar still does not work. Am I missing a step to make the Smoothing bar apply?
I'm working in Corel Draw 12 and I have a problem to connect two nodes of different lines which aren't the nodes at the beginning or end of the lines. That problem I've solved, (by selecting both lines, then using function combine, selecting for e.g. starting node of first and ending node of second line and joining them) but I really have hard time making this out. The function join isn't apparently working for nodes in the middle of the lines.
So I will jump right to the issue. I like to make my edits occasionally in wireframe, and as I began to manipulate or move nodes around, the minute I finish editing the first node or a group of nodes, all of the nodes vanish. The only thing that is present in wireframe after they disappear is the object (or line that I am editing) no nodes.
Now, I have learned that if I zoom in or out, they appear again, I would have to continuously do this in order to make edits in wireframe. I do not have this problem in Enhanced View.
Windows 8 / ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series / AMD Phenom II X4 965
My graphic card is up to date; however, I dont believe this is a graphic issue due to the fact that I can edit in Enhanced view without issues.
This has been a feature in CorelDraw for as long as I can remember so I'm hoping that buried in options or customize it can be changed.
When you draw a curved line, the nodes default to Symmetrical rather than Smooth. Symmetrical nodes adjust both sides of the curve when you move the node selection handles which I rarely use. Smooth allows you to adjust once side of the node without effecting the other but still maintaining an in line alignment.
if you can make nodes on a curve default to Smooth rather than Symmetrical?
How can you use the reflecting nodes horizontally or vertically nothing is happening when I click the nodes how do you make the nodes snaps horizontally or vertically so that your drawing look symetrical.
I would like to know if some users have the same problem : when I vectorize manually a bitmap with the polyline tool of CorelDraw X6, sometimes I have two nodes very close (I don't understand why because I do one click with my mouse...). I change my mouse without improvement.Do you know a macro to clean my polylines and to transform the "double" nodes in a single node (adjusting the gap distance) ? The reduce nodes feature in CorelDraw is not nice to do that.
i wanted to reduce size of cdr file. I wanted to know whether we can change resolution ,colour ... its it possible to compress images with and without use of any software.
Usually the reduce node tool will reduce the nodes easily, but I have had a few issues where an imported shape or vector - usually a dxf file or plt file has thousands of nodes but the reduce node tool does not work.
When I select a node on these files it only reduces the node I select? is there a way of smoothing these without redrawing ?
Most imported designs are 100%. I'd like a code that at a push of a button reduced to 10% or any other setting i can change it to. Reason being, we all use different scale modes and sometimes artwork is huge. I need to shrink it down.
Is this possible w/o manually typing in the values?
how is possible to reduce the printing usage? a friend of mine told me that I have to reduce the percentage of each colour in the image, but first of all I don't know how to do that, and second I don't know if it will modify the image.
I have a vector that is 1000 pixels wide and 500 pixels high. How do I reduce it down to 1000pixels wide and 120 pixels high? Can I do that without distorting the image?
I'm having a problem with enlarging and/or reducing sizes of objects. When I set the height or width to something, the object usually becomes much smaller. If I wanted to blow up something (anything) from 8" to 20", it would become about 3". I would have to put in the 20" again and then it might grow to the correct size.
I have 2 issues to deal with. I have a poster I've created in 11x17 but I want to make sure that I get a full bleed when I send it over to the print shop, how would I do this?
issue#2: I will need to reduce the size of the 11x17 to a 5.6in width 7in height. How do I do this? The reason for the size reduction is because I need it for newspaper printing so I need to make sure to keep my 11x17.
I'm working with a production house to generate transparent PNG files of pieces of content. These output images must meet a fixed height and width (in pixels). We're providing a MS Word file with a template that has both text and a MathType equation. The vendor uses this as a starting point, and will export the same equation as a transparent PNG file.
The vendor is using CorelDraw to: transfer text and MathType equations out of a Microsoft Word document into a template in a CDR file select and export the resulting component(s) as a transparent PNG file
FONT MISMATCH: We have a reference PNG file that we've generated as pixel map directly from an XML version of a piece of sample content. We've found that the vendor's sample PNG file is much larger in filesize than the reference PNG file, though it has the same dimensions.
I'm wondering if it is related to a settings issue in CorelDraw due to a weird font size mismatch. Viewing our reference PNG on-screen on my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion), the font matches 26pt in my text editor at 100% view, which is the same font size we use in our source Word document. The vendor (using a PC overseas) has to shrink the font size after transfer into CorelDraw to 6.2pt font, which visually matches our reference on my screen.
TECHNICAL DETAILS: I've used the "identify -verbose" command in ImageMagick to isolate a few other key differences between our source PNG file and the vendor's sample PNG file. In addition a significantly larger number of rows of Histogram information (source=65 rows; vendor=256 rows), there are a handful of other discrepancies (in bold):
I've attached a text file with the ImageMagick details for each PNG file. changes to the CorelDraw settings or process to better align the output file with the source. I'm also open to exporting the selected component(s) in a different format (e.g., EPS or TIF) and then converting to PNG with another utility.
In trying to import image files in CorelDraw X3, I click to select file file to import and Corel freezes showing the hourglass and I get "not responding". It is locked!
All else works fine. I tried re-install, default reset and looked for any upgrades with no success. I'm running on XP Professional and SP3.
Here I have some blue line features. Then I drawn another red line passing through these features. I am trying to cut blue feature wherever red line intersects. how can I achieve this?
