I have to design a billboard that needs to be 8ft by 20ft. What size layout should I design it in? I know I need to make sure my pictures are high resolution so it can be blown up to the proper size, correct?

He is requesting I design it in 1/4 size so I've broken it down into inches and I came up with 31.5''x132''. Anyways how would I achieve the 3 inch bleed all around? Would I design the poster in the measurements I have mentioned or do I actually need to add an additional 3 inches to the layout?
View 14 Replies View RelatedPhoto paint uses an absurd amount of CPU when drawing a line; the brush "lags" and stutters about the screen, too. My system CPU is a Core i7-2600k, and all 8 threads are maxed during the drawing of the line. Why would this be?

I am a self thought user of CorelDraw11 and i have been having great fun using it. I now want to move a bit forward into something much more advanced. I want to design a website using CorelDraw11.
My question now is, is it possible to design a website using CorelDraw11?
I must have clicked on something that has caused there to be no color in a design or text. It looks transparent. In the lower right corner it shows to be the correct color and outline but it does not show up on my screen.
View 3 Replies View Relatedexporting my CorelDrawX6 files as a high quality jpg for large scale printing purposes. In X4 it was very easy - just export as usual to the highest quality cmyk jpg and open in Photo Paint... now when I export this way it takes forever to bring up the preview page and most of the time it ends up being blank. Sometimes even crashes. I have played with all options in the filter dialog menu that I can find but nothing works. Thought it might be a file size problem but never had that problem in X4 and anything under 200dpi will not be high enough quality.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do a bitmap trace of an image. The resulting vector is OK, except that, between every shape of a single color, there is a line, and that line is made a color, either transparent, or a specified color - and thickness.
The preview creates a desired result, but the end product is the problem. When I click on the vector, I can change the color of the lines between the colors in the vector, and in the dockers, I can change the thickness to "none" but a line still exists between the shapes. The previews are just fine, what can I do to make this guy not look like a puzzle? Its as if the shapes in the vector do not touch each other. The previews show no lines between the shapes/colors, except in the final output.
If I import a custom bitmap into Coreldraw, as linked image, the resulting image is very coarse.
If I import all content, the resolution is preserved.
Is that possible to increase the preciousness of linked images to reflect original?
I have an image from a magazine that is 9" X 7.5" and want to scan it so that I can get the best resolution from it and be able to place it on a banner that will be 3ft X5ft.
In what format should I scan it ? JPEG, TIFF, or PDF
Is there a way to export at a lower resolution or to change the resolution in some way so the resulting PDF isn't so large?

Now i would like to know if its possible to link a obeject in a DXF auto to that same object in a X5 design.So if it is changed in the DXF it is changed in the X5 as well.
I have a design that I would like to cut in half so that I can cut half of it at at time on my vinyl cutter. I can't think of way to do it in Corel.

If I export the artwork as JPEG, and check "Maintain Size", I'll get the artwork in correct dimension and resolution. However, if I export as TIFF, the resolution by default is 72dpi, and if I increase the resolution to 150dpi, the dimension reduces accordingly, ending up with a smaller bitmap exported.
what the resolution is on the screen in Pixels mode? Where Corel finds the value of resolution?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am producing an 10 x 5 foot trade show display for a client. Even though the image they chose is relatively large (18.7" x 12.5" at 300 dpi), when scaled up it will be about 64 dpi at final size.
I've read that such displays typically use 75-100 dpi images. Where do you find ultra high res stock images? The one we are using is from Istockphoto.
I am playing with this at the minute but thought I would upload an image I am having trouble with. Learned 'flattening' with effects on top of other images - my problem this time is that we need a ghosted part of an image - my boss has done a 'glow' rectangle but i cannot 'flatten' it as it is sitting on top of a vector image!
I am going to try and split the vector image and fill it with a fountain fill but unsure if this can be done.
Been a CorelDraw user for a long time. Just installed x6 (previous X4), and tried to export an image to jpg. X6 seems to have this dialog box with all these presets. How do I manually set my resolution, pixels, etc. as in the previous versions?

I am designing a postcard that is 8.5 x 3.66. I set my page size in the layout section to 8.5 x 3.66. In that layout section it also has a bleed button. I check it and type in .125 in. (what the printer requires.
So it adds a dotted line outside . which i understand. Here is my question. When I save as PDF, only the 8.5x3.66 saves and not the bleed area. I need the printer to see the bleed area. They also want crop marks.
I have a question about using the outline trace function and resolution of images.
Say for instance, I am trying to create an existing logo for a customer in which I have to pull the image off the internet. I am unable to find an image that is high resolution, so I pick one with a lower resolution, because after all, I am going to trace the logo to cut out on my cutter with a heat transfer application. It is a simple design, a heart for instance. So when I use Corel Trace, no matter how small beforehand I make said heart, when it traces it comes out jagged, like the pixelation you see on a low res image. Is there any way to smooth this out? Or do I just need to look harder for a higher res image?

I have this text on a notepad and I want to make the same design in Corel Draw X6.
I have a few question. Which is the font used there? I tried looking through all the fonts in Corel and noone was the same. Sites like Whatthefont won't answer me correctly because the letters have white line inside.
My second question is this: I need to make the same design, so the white line should be in the letters. How to make that? Is this a font property or do I need to make it by hand? If it isn't a font property, how can I make it?
When I try to convert any object to a bitmap, the resolution is highlighted but doesn't workif I want to change the existing resolution. I have to RESELECT the numbers to export to another resolution as if the resoltion WASN'T highlighted.
