Been a CorelDraw user for a long time. Just installed x6 (previous X4), and tried to export an image to jpg. X6 seems to have this dialog box with all these presets. How do I manually set my resolution, pixels, etc. as in the previous versions?
View 4 RepliesI am playing with this at the minute but thought I would upload an image I am having trouble with. Learned 'flattening' with effects on top of other images - my problem this time is that we need a ghosted part of an image - my boss has done a 'glow' rectangle but i cannot 'flatten' it as it is sitting on top of a vector image!
I am going to try and split the vector image and fill it with a fountain fill but unsure if this can be done.
I am fairly inexperienced using Corel. I work with Corel in a technical capacity for my job. We use it to transform DXF (AutoCAD) files into image files that can then be imported into another very specialized program for weaving.
The problem I am having is this. I would like to be able to export image files from corel that have a specified height, in pixels, larger than 10,000. In the woven program, the pixels of the incoming drawing have a real, physical representation. Namely, the number of pixels wide and high in the drawing translates directly into the number of yarns wide and high in a woven cloth repeat (weft (pick count) and warp (end count) for those who are familiar). We have some designs that require the length be longer than the 10,000 limit, and until recently we have been working around this by resizing ("scaling") the image without keeping the aspect ratio in the woven image editing program. This does ok, but when the lines and curves in the drawing get "stretched," they become very uneven and this is frustrating.
We cannot use jpg file formats because when the lines and curves of a dxf file are converted to an image and then exported from corel as a jpg, the lines do not remain smooth and complete. In other words, they become a series of standalone dots. This severely complicates working with the image in other steps. Currently, our standard is to use .tif files, and .bmp files also seem to work. However, neither seems to allow the exportation of images in excess of 10,000 pixels long.
Is there a different way we could be creating these images in order to get the type of accuracy we are looking for? DXF files have to be successfully made into image files that maintain the proportions set out in AutoCAD and which also are longer than 10,000 pixels.
every time I export my cdr file to a jpg, all but a small portion of the picture disappear. I've tried saving it in other formats and a few other things, but none have been successful. I've included print screens of what the picture should look like, what it does look like, and the export setting I've been using.

I exported a graphic as a 600 dpi bitmap. However the saved image is 600.125 dpi. Why the non-whole number size? And how can I export to a whole number? I get either 600.xxx or 599.xxx.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow on earth do you export bitmaps cropped to the size of the canvas? This seems like the simplest functionality ever but i can't get it to work. For example, I am designing an advert for use online. It needs to be 600px wide x 150px high. I may want to use a background image or a photo that when placed goes beyond the edge of the canvas. Logic dictates i would only want to export the canvas with a web image (otherwise why would i have set an exact number of pixels.) However, Corel insists on exporting everything on the canvas and desktop. Surely it should allow us to choose the bounding area of the exported bitmap.
Just to clarify what I mean, i've included a screen shot showing and example original graphic and the export result. I'm sure there must be an easy way to do this. If it's one like this i can crop it easily, but sometimes a print customer will ask me to send them, for example, a 32pp booklet we have designed for them with each page as a JPG and to crop each one manually is a right pain.
I want to get a version of coreldraw, but can't afford x6, I need to be able to create high resolution pdfs and pngs and also to create stuff in CMYK. Can I do this in x3 or do I need to splash out on a newer version.

I have an image from a magazine that is 9" X 7.5" and want to scan it so that I can get the best resolution from it and be able to place it on a banner that will be 3ft X5ft.

If I export the artwork as JPEG, and check "Maintain Size", I'll get the artwork in correct dimension and resolution. However, if I export as TIFF, the resolution by default is 72dpi, and if I increase the resolution to 150dpi, the dimension reduces accordingly, ending up with a smaller bitmap exported.
what the resolution is on the screen in Pixels mode? Where Corel finds the value of resolution?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am producing an 10 x 5 foot trade show display for a client. Even though the image they chose is relatively large (18.7" x 12.5" at 300 dpi), when scaled up it will be about 64 dpi at final size.
I've read that such displays typically use 75-100 dpi images. Where do you find ultra high res stock images? The one we are using is from Istockphoto.
what I want to achieve is a jpg image, with one of my vector designs over the top of it, for use on a website.
This is how I have been doing things so far. Opening cdr file, containing the vector that i wish to use importing the image, then reducing its size positioning the vector over the top of the image adding perspective to the vector selecting both using the pick tool (dragging the selection square around both items) then selecting export for web.
This has worked for dozens of pictures so far. The problem is, my exported file is way too big, at 900kb. However, if I just export the image, it is 39kb. If i just export the vector, it is 25 kb. Yet when I export both it comes up at 900.
I have to design a billboard that needs to be 8ft by 20ft. What size layout should I design it in? I know I need to make sure my pictures are high resolution so it can be blown up to the proper size, correct?

Say for instance, I am trying to create an existing logo for a customer in which I have to pull the image off the internet. I am unable to find an image that is high resolution, so I pick one with a lower resolution, because after all, I am going to trace the logo to cut out on my cutter with a heat transfer application. It is a simple design, a heart for instance. So when I use Corel Trace, no matter how small beforehand I make said heart, when it traces it comes out jagged, like the pixelation you see on a low res image. Is there any way to smooth this out? Or do I just need to look harder for a higher res image?
We are using Coral Draw 11 and have to get a lot of our data from Excel. Currently we are copying and pasting the information in, but this is very time consuming. Is there a faster and simplier method?

Also, do any of the effects/actions (drop shadows, power clipping, grouping) that we use in Corel affect the ability of other users to at least open and manipulate the file? Even if it's not exactly the same in the converted file, what is the most convenient way to allow another artist to view & manipulate Ai or EPS exported from Corel Draw? I have artistic text on a simple schematic diagram that I am trying to export out as a .cgm file, but the lines convert from solid lines to dashes and the vertical text does not stay in place after the export.

However, my printer feedback saying that the PDF files contains CMYK color (C & Y).I've checked the color separation in Print Preview, only K, no CMY.

It does not even get as far as a dialog box its just crashes straight away. I it does this everytime on two comuters without fail.
Is there a way of viewing an error report? Or what would I have to do to file one?
I can export to other formats just fine, it only seems to be JPG....

When I export a png file in X4, I had the option to export at 1200 dpi.
How can I do this in X5?? settings? etc
When I try to convert any object to a bitmap, the resolution is highlighted but doesn't workif I want to change the existing resolution. I have to RESELECT the numbers to export to another resolution as if the resoltion WASN'T highlighted.

Otherwise I would have to set all different pc's individually and I rather spend my time otherwise.
