CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 :: How To Get Position Of Entire Selection
Sep 8, 2011
I'm trying to write a script to put printing ticks around the selection. I can get the height and width of the selection, but I cant find anything like "position" or "location" in the methods to get the selections X and Y on the document.
Entire Corel suite freezes on start up - I cannot do anything. Reinstalling also does not work - suddenly buttons on the installer dissapeared - there is no text on them and when I click them nothing happens.
A week ago I have installed service pack 3 and everything worked fine. It has all gone wrong again. And installation of the latest patches does not work anymore.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit and I've got a feeling that is must have something to do with system updates.
I have a 900 x 500 px image in Adobe Illustrator, which overlaps a bit the canvas on the left side.
When I open this file with Corel, it adjusts my graphics so that it's centered on the screen. The AI file is centered on another point. Also, the canvas Corel creates is A4 sized. I always have to resize the canvas and then manually adjust the position of my graphics.
Question: How can I save an AI file so that when I open it at Corel, the position and size of the canvas will be exactly the same?
Platform specifics: Windows Vista 64bit, Corel graphics Suite X4
Recently (for a month ?), when I open Corel Photo Paint (by any method), the window opens not in a maximized size, but almost, with the upper border just off screen and the right border barely visible on the far right side of the monitor screen. To relocate the PP window I have to place the cursor on the right window border, click (the cursor changes to the left/right cursor), and slide the window to the left . When I do this, the entire PP window "snaps"downward just enough for me to "grab" the upper right corner (the cursor changes to the diagonal arrows). This doesn't occur with the Draw program.
I have tried opening/closing, resizing with new files, no files, old files, from the Taskbar, from the "exe" program, Start menu, the Open with option, etc. Nothing I do will force the opening window to open in the size/location it was lastly closed in (as I remember it doing). Even using the Ctrl key/Exit, as suggested elsewhere here for another's problem.
I am having trouble with the xy axis. They register 0 instead of the actual position of an object. Rulers are showing correctly, and guides show correctly. Recently re-installed X5 and Patches 1-3.
On my tool barin transformation bar i had position - absolute (coordinates) and size of a selected object.
i changed something and now i have position like 0.00 x 0.00 (i think its relative position) and when i write something in position it moves relative to previous.
when i press alt+f7 i can change position relative and absolute but toolbar don't change. How to set toolbar to show me always absolute position?
i am redrawing an image and used guidelines to insure straight lines. the problem i am having is when i try to put a node on the intersecting lines, it jumps away from where i have placed it. i do not have any of the snap items turned on and am not using a grid in the background. Why will the nodes not go where they are being place? i have been using corel for years and have not had this problem before.
Is there a way to be able to set the position of fountain fill to more than 100? Wasn't this possible in previous versions of Corel Draw?Anyways, I want to achieve the result as shown below. The logical way would be to set position to more than 100, and than to adjust the gradient colors manually to get the look with less curved arch as in gradient on the left side. I think it is obvious why this is very important. I know that there are multiple other ways to achieve this, as you can see that I did (converting to bitmap and crop in this situation in this case), but these are all limited workarounds, and the only "clean" way to do this is as I described.is possible to adjust the gradient in toolbar to more than 100 by mouse dragging it, but it doesn't apply to the object.
I have a document i am designing that has a front and a back to it, its not a business card.
How do i align/position the two sides so i get specific elements where i want them on the back side,
the problem is not with the front and i only need to position the back and specifically, i have checked out the print preview imposition tool and only seems to just print duplicate copies however many times need, unless i used it incorrectly,
I mean i could manually try to set them up and waste a lot of ink and paper positioning the two sides but i believe there is a faster/smarter method to accomplish this.
In Corel Draw x6 recently I am facing a problem. After writing few sentence when I wan to change the font style... and click on the font then the system hangs for a minute or responding very slowly. If I scroll the mouse to go downwards or upwards fonts... even then the system works very slowly. Why its happening? Any problem due to the number of fonts loaded? About 600 fonts loaded in my machine.
Is it possible to turn off the selection marks which appear after each drawing stroke when drawing in a freehand style with a wacom pen?
I find it very off-putting to my drawing. In Illustrator and Inkscape it is possible to draw freely without constant selection marks appearing after every stroke of the pen.
Why when I make a path for example and make a selection from it every time the selection is 1 pixel wider then the path. I'm used to it with Photoshop and it's very precise even you use the lasso tool and paths. But here I can't understand the logic in that 1 pixel more. Every time I make a selection I have to reduce the size of the selection with 1 pixel and that is very uncomfortable.
Is there a way to remove or make more transperent the grey highlight selection on text? When I adjust kerning to text in order to match spacing, the cursor highlight for the text covers up any image or artwork allowing you to only see the text selected. This also appears this way in wireframe?
See the examples below. I have a table with 24 different colors. When I determine to create a custom palette with 24 shades of this table, all colors are added to my custom palette (pic. 1).
Now, assuming I double them to 48 tones, which the criterion adopted by CorelDRAW to create the midtones? Note that Green color, in the second row (pic.2), has not an intermediary tone, while for White (last color) were created three options.
I have several customers that I do only laser engraving work for, is there a way to somehow open their files and have the printer default to the laser instead of my printer? I have tried everything I could find in settings and defaults, but they seem to be program centric instead of file centric.
New to Corel, I find selecting items kinda frustrating with the black handles, which can be difficult to distinguish with objects close in size or proximity. Is there a way of making a selection change color when selected as Cad programs do ?
I have just upgraded from X3 to X5. In X3 when I would type some text I would then scroll through the different fonts and see which one I wanted to use. This was really quick. I simply cursored down through the list. X5 is very slow in changing from one font to the next. I'm having to match and select fonts in X3 and then paste them into X5 and continue my artwork.
I saw a macro that does this a while ago, but I could very well be wrong. If it doesn't already exist, I am not even sure if it is possible, so I thought I'd ask the Macro Masters here!
Lets say I have a page fill of objects/shapes/text with all sorts of different colors.
I select the black color (or whatever color) but would actually like to select ALL colors other than the black color that I have selected.
So, if I have a page with Black, Red, Green & Blue shapes, I select an object colored black, the macro would then select ALL objects/text on the page that are NOT black.
Recently I've been having problems with X5 and Xerox Print drivers. After the installation the Color Option in the print properties get's grayout and I can't make any selection. If the customer has the print driver in default for Black and White for him to change to Color I had to install a second print driver. This only happens with Corel X5 and Windows 7.
While making selection by drawing a selection window, the objects often get seelected and get dragged. These objects lie on the starting vertex of the selection window. Therefore I have to find the desired bjects to be selected in object manager lying in haphazard order. Is there a way , the objects don’t get dragged while making a selection window from left to right. That means, the objects get selected which are present in the selection window only.

I have just upgraded from X4 to X6 and found that when using the paint tool, the cursor disappears at the end of the action, and appears again when the cursor is moved again. This happens when the user interface setting is set to 'Shape cursor for brush tools".
More of a concern for me is when the Eyedropper tool is set to 'Select sample', (the one I always use), no rubber rectangle is drawn to show the area that is being sampled. That is, it is supposed to draw a dynamic rectangle in a similar way that the rectangular mask tool selects an area with a rectangle changing size with movement of the cursor. The eyedropper samples the correct pixels, but does not draw the enclosing rectangle.I have tried running it in all comparability modes except for 256 color and 640 x 480 resolution, which aren't options for me.
X4 didn't exhibit these problems so I can't understand how it can't be a bug, especially since the rectangular mask tool draws the rubber-banding rectangle without a problem. At this point would be preferring to be using X4.
