I think there should be a 'edit cfx' menu when we right -click the clip in timeline. This is very handy to get fast access to the cfx. Yes i can click the small cfx icon/button and RMB - edit cfx , or i can double click the cfx button itself, but this only work when the cfx button is visible. Also there should be a hotkey for this.
View 3 RepliesI'm doing far too many inadvertent moves/deletes/copies, simply by clicking pen for menu to appear, only for it to commit to whatever the pen position was at. This happening in the library area is no fun at all....not sure what the answer is really! but it's not ideal....

Is there a way to access the timeline within CFX ( much like in Flame ) ? I see the timing button but this doesn't seem to have the same control as a timeline for a specific clip.
Also, is there a way other then "explode one" or "explode all" to go within a CFX within a CFX ( pre comp ) ? i.e. a setup that is then put within the BG of action.
As soon as i try to open the default canon folder containing 5d footage, software crashes (spinning wheel, then app exited abnormally message).
I try re-starting wiretap gateway, wiretap server, and stone+wire thru Service Monitor then restarting smoke but that sometimes solves the issue and sometimes it doesnt. And sometimes i see checkerboards.
I tried solving the problem by running smoke with airport on or off but with similar results.I did some search here and gathered that it could be due to a number of reasons (IP address, local host etc) but I dont quite fully understand everything.
I don't have my mac pro networked via any Ethernet cable or anything and don't want to have to keep airport on unless i need to be online.
I’ve just stumbled across a way to acess the old desktop tools and as an old Smoke on Linux user hope that Autodesk keeps it there.
This is what I did.... Loaded a project, went to keyboard shortcuts and set a short cut for repeat (used to duplicate frames). Now hit the shortcut and you should see all the old desktop tools.
As an aside, why is Change Timecode/Keycode, convert rate in the retired tab?
I'm sure before there was a way of "creating CFX (R Click on pen) when in CFX, rendering it and then dragging the render directly into the library in Smoke 2013. I cant get it to work.

Only alternative is to press ctrl and click, but well, what are my pen buttons good for and i´m lazy, especially when i have to access option menus.
it is a long click (click and press) or is a double click, or is a double long click..I suggest having a RENAME option on right click as well as using normal double click for renaming (one click select clip in viewport, double edit the name). If the library is wide open (details), double click can have the present behavior (open timeline and select the clip)

Currently it is displayed at the bottom put of the UI only and it is not possible to do anything on such a small view of the editor....

When I shift and double-click on the numeric field in "Channel hierarchy" (on the left of the Animation curve window) a CALCULATOR pops up.
I'm receiving this error will trying to export a clip from Smoke on Mac.

A weird thing is that I don't always get the error message. Sometimes the export works. But, more often it's not.
I am an experienced Smoke user and use a Wacom. No I have adjusted to using a mouse with Smoke, and for that matter my MacbookPro touchpad, but the swipe menu on the right for Player views I have never liked.
it shows up if I get close to the edge of the screen, covering up what I was trying to get to, and it just does't seem to fit the overall design.
With PR4 the right click contextual menu for the timeline seems to have been re-arranged to accomodate new features.
As a result, when you right-click a timeline element to remove all effects you have to move your pointer up through a list of about 15 items to reach the "Remove Effect" command.
There also appears not to be an assignable keyboard shortcut to remove all effects from a selected timeline element. (apart from Option+Clicking on the effect in the effect bar which just removes a single item).
Would it not make sense to have this remove effect command at the bottom so that it appears right near your pointer when you activate the menu?A keyboard shortcut binding would be ideal as I realise the contextual menus are probably in a state of constant change at the moment.
when dragging CFX to copy it to other clip, CFX doubles everything within in cfx when copied from fx menue (all actions and clips) but fen copy from clip to clip behave normal.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to do a freelance gig on 2013, so kicking and screaming I drag myself to the SMac and get into cfx.
My first bugbear is when saving or loading an action setup in cfx. The node load/save buttons are on the other side of the screen from the cfx load/save button, yet in the modular keyer, when you want to save a colour correction, the node load/save button simply replaces the mk load/save button. I find this much faster. Can we move the cfx node load/save buttons to keep inline with action and the mk?
The colorwarper is unusable in cfx. I know you know. So ?
And what's with the hotkey for gmask in action Modular Keyer. I can't get it working?
BTW, I downloaded the trial yesterday, so it is the most recent version Smoke 2013 SP2
Is there a definitive list of functions, arguments, parameters etc?
I'm specifically trying to access image width and height and the number of items in the action node.

See attached. It now take 4 pen actions to get the safe titles overlay on and off. And before it was one pen movement. So before it was aptly named quick off. Now you should rename it. Slow off. Or "waste of time" something that matches function.
I vote for reinstating the quick off operation from 2012. And I checked, there is no quick off in the hotkey editor, so I can't streamline the usage with a user key.

1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?

In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?
