When I've mis-aligned a group of objects my instinct is to hit Ctrl+Z and try again but the Object Alignment dialog doesn't appear to be passing keyboard commands back to Xara so I have to first click somewhere in the main window, undo and then re-select the Object Alignment dialog.
Not a huge deal but I've just started playing with Xara and thought I'd document quirks as I discover them, as part of my learning curve.
It involves right clicking on an object in Corel Draw X6. I had this same issue in X5 too.
My issue is that if I select an object and then right click on that object (I right click on the "X" in the middle of the selected object) it will select the object below the "X." In other words, I can only ever get the right click menu to appear on the object I select if there are no objects below it.
Having just installed AutoCadArchitecture 2013 last week, I've been fairly successful in fixing most of my "issues".
When I dbl. click on a line, polyline, etc, I have it set up to open the Properties Pallet, (not the quick properties box). Problem is, the first time I dbl.click on a no object it opens the Properties pallet no problem, but the second time i dbl click an object, the properties pallet completely disappears from the screen. When I dbl click the object a 3rd time, the pallet comes back. I have it set to auto-hide, but not disappear. How do I get to use the dbl. click feature to open the properties pallet every time?
is there a way to stop ribbon from changing all those icons whenever you clicking on an object? because my computer at work is a bit slow and each click like that on a large civil 3d profile has a slight delay which that time adds up to reduced productivities. and i am clicking 500 times a day since there are 500 vertices to modifiy on say this alignment.
everytime you click on an object the ribbon changes which takes up cpu time due to running a bunch of codes to populate the icons on the ribbon. tried closing ribbon doesn't work still have the delay when mouse click on an object to show the grips. oh well maybe it's showing the grip that's using the cpu. but how can you say for sure without turning one feature off at a time to test?

The problem is I can't click to transform just like him... how he does that ? All he did was select a corner and click outside the object.. the object will be transformed
how to transform by dragging the four corner,
When I double click an object in Xara Pro X sometimes it opens the object in a new file.
I say sometimes because it doesn't do it under all circumstances. I think it is just on some cloned objects. I normally use double click on an object as a shortcut to the shape tool (used to be called shape editor tool). Even though it only does it on some objects, when it decides to do this it is consistent for that object.
If there is a way to make Outline Same as Fill - is there a way to Transfer color values from object to another?
Select object you want to change THEN select object with color you want - hit button and it transfers?
I am having an issue transferring an object I have sculpted in Mudbox, and trying to import it correctly to Maya. In Mudbox, both of my objects show up just fine (don't worry about the UV issue on the face). When I choose to 'send objects to Maya,' the objects display in a new scene, but the hair doesn't show up at all. In the Outliner, Maya displays an empty transform node titled 'hair,' but I can't get it to show up as a solid mesh within the scene.
Am I going to have to remodel the hair in mudbox again and just pray that the model will import to Maya without issues?
I usually attach an xref to my drawing as a workflow, but I neverreally understand why its so difficult to locate it after importing. The xref almost always comes far away from theinsertion point. I tried to open thexref and set new ucs at the corner of the geometry but its all the same.
How can I coordinate xref ucs to my host drawing ucs?
Issue: Occasionally, and for mysterious reasons, VBA will not work. In fact, if I try to access VBA, Inventor will outright crash. The cause of this seems to stem from the Inventor32bitHost.exe not working correctly for some strange reason. Instead of the normal behavior of opening only one instance when VBA is started, it opens an instance for every part in an assembly or, from what I can tell, a different instance for any module found inside of a document inside of an assembly!
It prevents anything related to VBA from working at all, meaning that I no longer have access to the quick and dirty debugger, nor any macro that was built using it. In addition to that, instead of the normal behavior of the Inventor32bitHost.exe closing out when Inventor closes no longer happens, meaning that I’m left with hundreds of instances just sitting silently in the background. As you would imagine, after a few large assembly openings / closing, this starts to bog things down in a pretty awful way.
Have any of you had this problem before on your machine? If so, did you ever find out what was causing / caused it?
So far I have tried reinstalling / repairing / voodoo / thaumaturgy, all with little success. Yet, sometimes I can restart and it will work for the first few sessions of Inventor, and then all of a sudden relapse back into this behavior.
I have a number of layout tabs with varying layer controls applied in multiple viewports. This layout may be made up of a number of xrefs. I end up with a lot of layers in the host drawing from the xrefs, and even after I purge the xrefs to eliminate some of the xrefs, the layers remain in the host drawing, even though they no longer exist.
Is there any way to update the xref definitions to get rid of the layers without losing the layer setups I have? VISRETAIN is set to 1, and if I reset it to 0, I will lose all of the viewport controls I have put in place.
I have a drawing with Objects that have both Object Data and Linked data in an Access database. I need to get information from the linked table to a new linked table for each object.
I have thought that if I get the necessary information from the Linked table record to the object data for each object, I could then convert the Object data to a new link and am looking for a way to copy the data from a field in the Linked Table to the object data. There is at least one field common to both the OD and Linked Table record.
Is there any automated way to transfer this data?
In my company, they have just upgraded the old version of Autocad LT 2004 to the new 2013 and we have created menu to make our job easy. I have try to transfer the menu file .mnc to 2013 but it's not working or I don't do it the right way.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to connect a Map3D drawing to a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database hosted on a linux server on my network. In the past I have successfully connected to PostgreSQL/PostGIS when the server/db is running on the same Windows box where I am using AutoCAD. I've been able to do this with several combinations of Windows (XP/7/7x64)/PostgreSQL(8.4/9.1)/PostGIS (1.5/2.0) and AutoCAD Map (2013).
I have even been able to connect from one Windows PC running AutoCAD Map to a PostGIS database hosted on another Windows machine on the network, but not to a database hosted by a Linux server. When I try this from an XP workstation, the application (ACAD) immediately crashes without warning (this happens after I enter the connection information and try to "login"). On Windows 7, the application crash is almost as immediate, but it at least gives me an exit code error "FATAL ERROR: Unhandled e06d7363h Exception at..."
I've tried to view the postgres logs on the db server. I usually get one of these for each failure:
2013-05-31 10:53:42 EDT LOG: could not accept SSL connection: Connection reset by peer
I've tweaked the postgres file (pg_hba.conf) to allow non-ssl/ssl/etc to make sure that I don't have problems there. In fact, I have other GIS apps on the AutoCAD workstation that I use to test the PostGIS connectivity prior to trying AutoCAD. I've looked for other things like Antivirus/firewall that might be contributing, but I've come up empty. I've also tried using the newer "OGR FDO" providers from osgeo.org. I get the same behavior with those.
In short, how to be able to connect AutoCAD Map 3D 2013 to a non-Windows PostgreSQL/PostGIS host? How to get a successful connection.
I want to send a consultant our dwg file as a dwf so they can use it as an underlay. I cannot find any clear info in forums or on web to create it from model space (so 1:1 scale) for them to attach it in their model space. AND when I did try it (just not sure it is the best way), I insert in (as DWF underlay) and it comes in with all white lines & the line weights of everything are way too thick.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD LT 2013. When attempting to attach a PDF as an underlay, I go to the Insert tab, choose "Attach" from the Reference panel, pick the PDF I want, and then...nothing. No dialog boxes come up, I get no error messages, it just doesn't do anything at all. I just upgraded my RAM and I know the rest of my specs are up to par, and I did get this feature to work once, but now it doesn't do anything.

I've tried importing image underlays (PNG files), and they work fine. Also, the pdf file is pretty big (about 100 MB), so I didn't know if that affected its ability to display.how to get this to show up?
I haven't used PDF Underlays very much as we're always given CAD backgrounds. In this case, I used them to quickly put in since we won't get CAD files. However, they are scanned PDF's so they are essentially raster images. They have jagged lines, etc.
Is there a way to just lighten these when plotting so I can still use them as my background? or should I just bite the bullet and trace them to get actual ACAD lines to be able to control in plotting?
My girlfriend has a problem with AutoCad 2013 students version. After attaching pdf file in underlay option AutoCad crash. She's got macbook air with system version OS 10.9. She had not ever problems with pdr iunderlay before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI understand that a pdf underlay will slow down AutoCad and its functions. My company just switched from AutoCad 2010 to AutoCad LT 2010, while maintaining the same computer and it has become astronomically slower. Is this an issue I have to deal with or is there a way to improve its efficiency?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn AutoCAD Architecture 2012 we try to use the PDF Underlay to insert PDFs into our dwg files. We have problem to scale the pdfs correctly. We use metric units (mm) and when we insert our pdfs it scales to imperial units. For example, we have a pdf plotted from AutoCAD (or Revit) as an A1-sheet (841x594 mm) an insert it canceled to 1 the inserted pdf (image) get the size 33,11x23,39 which is the sheet size in inch. If the drawing is in 1:100 scale we would like to scale it up to 100 to get the correct scale in AutoCAD but it won't work.
I have tried insunits, insunitsdefsource, insunitsdeftarget but it has no effect.

I am attaching a PDF or DWF file to my drawing it shows in xref dialog but when i try to get it from
Database.GetHostDwgXrefGraph its not in the graph node list. can some body give code example, how i can update the underlay path. the following code crash Autocad.
using (Transaction trans = database.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) { UnderlayDefinition uDef = trans.GetObject(objId, OpenMode.ForWrite) as PdfDefinition; uDef.UpgradeOpen(); uDef.SourceFileName = newPath; trans.Commit(); }
After loading a single 24x36 road plan and profile PDF drawing as an underlay, Autocad is so slow and jerky I couldn't work with it. The PDF file size is about 1 MB. I need to load at least 10 more, so it is a hopeless endeavor to use the PDFs. I'll have to convert them another format such as to JPG to get the job done.
How to use this functionality, but if the performance isn't greatly improved it might as well not even be included in the product.
I'm working with ACAD 2013. I need some way of masking part of a PDF underlay. Basically I am attempting to call out something on architectural plans and create a listing on a table. The mask needs to be transparent, kinda fading the rest of the plans out, leaving my little callout box.
The ways I can think of doing this involve a little trickery. I think if you bring the PDF (2) times create a clip then create the opposite clip then turn the fade up on the outer one should work.
Client of mine has been experiencing slowness with AutoCAD LT 2013.
The program works fine when working on floor plans. However when they open up any PDFs to be using as an underlay, AutoCAD LT performance on scrolling up/down left/right moves as a snails pace.
PC Specs are: Intel Xeon W3505 @ 2.53Hz, 3Gb ram, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, nVidia Quadro FX 580
Currently about to suggest upgrading the video card to a Nvideo Quadro 2000 1Gb Video card. Would this solve the issue that my client is having the the slowness when scrolling when a PDF underlay is used.
Is there anyway to be able to edit a PDF document while the drawing it's referenced in is open?I would have thought that a PDF underlay would have worked in the same manner as an external reference does.
We use crystal reports to create reports from the drawing, export to PDF and insert back into the drawing. Then when items are released for ordering and received the PDF is stamped as such and the underlay reflects that progress in the drawing.
But if a user has the drawing open the PDF is locked for editing.
I have a PDF underlay that is giving me some issues. I locked the layer and moved the pdf underlay's x-position to -1 and sent the drawing to the back to make sure it stays underneath all my lines, but annoyingly, everytime I draw something, it ends up *under* the PDF and I have to zoom out very far and selected the pdf to "send to back" again.
