AutoCad :: Random Veiwports Turn Off As Turn Others On
Apr 20, 2011
20110421veiwports turning off.jpg AutoCAD isnt being nice to me lately another hassle i have is the viewports randomly turn off ( they dont show anything) and when i turn those ones on, others turn off.
i dont know how to change the topic to "solved" however a collegue told me to enter MAXACTVP at the command line the value was 16, i was told to set it to 64 ( i had 21 viewports ) and they all came on.
I currently have an assignment that requires us to turn our 2D drawing into 3D. I am having difficulty with the walls and constructing them. Any recommendations on how to begin this process?
Recent upgrade (from 2006 to 200 8 and most things are how i like them, but i'm trying to turn off the pop-up box that appears when i turn a layer off "1 object changed to a frozen or off layer and removed from the selection set".
I have a 3D model, only poly-lines, i would like to turn it into a 2D isometric drawing (model space). Something similar to flatshot would do the trick. (flatshot works only on surfaces and solids...)
I know there is a command/button to turn all layers back on if most of them are off, and you want them back on. I use it all the time.
My question: is there a similar command to turn them all off? If not, why not? It makes just as much sense to me. Sometimes I want to turn all of them off, and then just turn one back on.
Is there a way to turn off blocks in an xref? Example.I would like to xref a lighting plan, however the "Exit Sign" blocks are to large and cover up the sprinklers, tees, and piping in my fire protection plan. Additionally the “Exit Sign” blocks have been inserted on the same layer as the "lighting" blocks which are very important in laying out sprinkler heads so I don’t place a sprinkler in a light.
I know of ways to fix this problem by editing the electrical drawing but it might cause more problems for the electrical draftsman. Any way to turn off these blocks?
I am trying to make a 3-D model from a 2-D sketch I made. I have only worked in 2-D so I'm not sure on how to do that. I have a sketch of heart with two names on the inside. I want to make the heart solid while leaving the inside of the letters open so you can see through the letters. Attached is the sketch I made.
I somehow managed to turn on the 'Metadata Viewer" window, and cannot figure out how to make it go away. I can close the window, but every time I switch drawings it re-appears in its previous location. How to turn it off permanently?
We are using section views in our drawings. However, we don’t want any hatching to show up. I’ve scoured the hatch libraries and hatch documentation and I have not been able to figure out how to turn hatching off, or alternatively to create a hatch style that is blank. My attempt at creating a blank hatching file is attached, but it didn’t work.
How can I turn off hatching or create a 'blank' .pat?
I initially told AutoCAD to stack all of the fractions but I think I have since changed my mind. Where is that setting that I can turn it off in my template file so all new files will not stack fractions? I assume that setting will disable it for text and dimensions?
I am trying to design a house on AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and I have a bunch of layers that I'm not using but I can't delete. The problem is when I turn off all the layers I am using and I leave the ones I'm not using on their is noting on my screen??? why they are their and why I can't get rid of them. I'm trying to keep everything neat and they're messing me up!!
If I want to trunoff/on some layers in different layouts, the best way is to use "vp freeze" column in layers properties manager. This way I can manipulate layers' visibility without altering them in MS or other layouts.
Left to "vp freeze" column there is "new vp freeze". I don't know what is this one?
When I work in modelspace, the lines on layer 0 turn white after I have done some text editing and then panned away. The only way to get them back to default colors is to switch to paperspace and then come back to modelspace. It is only changing the display color on the monitor. The colors are still set in the layer controls. I am using Architecture 2009.
The attached part has multiple holes in multiple locations...... I want to show in the .idw one set "row" around the circumference at a time.
So I want to show set one, how far in from the end of the tube, then how many and at what degrees around the 360*. to do this i can only suppress the other features right now.
so when I make another View those same parts are suppressed and i cant change it around otherwise it messes with the holes I want and don't want to show in the previous view.
I'm tired of repeatedly seeing messages like this with no option to "Click Here if you don't want to receive this notification in the future." How do turn this one off?
I have got a drawing that contains lots of text. The problem is that i need to turn them into UpperCase text and there are heaps of them. It'd be time consuming if i do it one by one. wonder if there're any easier way of doing this?
When I'm drawing in 3D and as I move the mouse across the drawing, the faces of my solids highlight automatically. I need to turn this off as needed but cannot find in my notes how that is done.
I would like to turn a line into a fenceline, but i dont have the linetype for fence.
How do i make my own linetype? I want the line to look something like this ___ll____ll____ (would like to have the vertical lines whit some degrees) Is this possible?
I have a single plan referenced in twice (one mirrored from the other) as this is a duplex. I need to turn a level on in one Plan that I do not wish to be on in the other Plan.
Somehow my top level assembly shows the UCS triads for hundreads of my parts (but not all of them). I know I didn't turn the visibility of all these UCS triads on manually. Now I cannot get them to turn off.
When I toggle the visibility status of a few and save the file they come back when the file is reopened.
Note, they are NOT visibile in their respective part files, just in my top level assembly.
I've "Binged" and "Googled" this for days, and have searched this forum internally with no luck.
I work primarily in GIS of a totally different platform than Auto Desk's offerings so my terminology may be tainted.
(I'm running AutoCad 2005 btw)
How can I tell AC to turn off any/all layers that are empty (i.e. have no objects, no block associations, no rasters etc).
I don't want to purge these empty layers as I will eventually need them.
Scenario:
All layers are turned on and visible, after I have purged empty layers that won't be needed, there are still empty layers left I will need to use later, I wish to turn off only these layers.
(There may be 20 or so layers so I was hoping for a programmatic way of doing this.)
