I have only just started using AutoCad and all of a sudden my program will not open and save files anymore without, without me typing in the whole filename string. Is there a way of resetting this as it has never done this before?
View 4 RepliesI've been trying to figure out a way to open all of my old .pdn files in another program. It doesn't matter if it's a .psd or image file or anything, I just need to convert it into something I can actually use.
opening paint.net to convert the file. Well, great, but the files are leftover from when I had a PC--I have a mac now and couldn't download the program if I tried. Is there anything I can do?
Since upgrading to Mavericks anytime i try to open files by going to file,open it says "Could not complete your request because of a program error".. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and also tried using the cleanup tool but still getting that error. I am using an iMac 27".. Also tried resetting preferences, still no luck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have PSCS4 and trial PSCS6. All my RAW and PSD files open by CS6 by default now. I want PS CS4 open PSD and RAW by default, as it used to, since CS6 is only trial.
I have Mac Pro, OS X 10.7.4. (Lion) I tried to change it this way:
File - Get info- Open with- change to CS4 - change all (use this application to open all documents like this one). It won't allow me, falls back to PS CS6.
I can open files by right clicking and chose PSCS4, (indicated as Adobe Photoshop CS4.app (11.0.2(11.0.2x20100519 [20100519.r.592 2010/05/19: 02:00:00:00 cutoff; r branch])) That arm long name for CS4 appeared after I installed CS6.
Is there any way to do this on Mac? I cannot find anyplace file and program associations.
I just installed PSE12 and want it to be the default program to open my jpg files. I know how to set defaults on a PC but the program does not even come up on the list of defaults. I've tried right-click on image and "open with" but no PSE12. If I use Browse and follow the path Program Files (x86)/Adobe/PSE12/PSE Editor.exe, there is no exe file, only the application. If I select PSE Editor, it does not make it the default.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.
This is what appears in my output window:

Since we upgraded to Inventor 2012 SP1 on W7 x64 most machines cannot open or save out step or iges files. The translator shows as 'On demand' and when i save copy as the 'options' button is inactive. We just get the standard error 'Problems encountered while saving the document'.
I see lots of old posts but nothing relating specifically to stp files.

So, Photoshop CC was working perfectly for me, up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago, when it randomly stopped letting me open up PNG files. I've been converting them in CS6 as a workaround (CS6 still functions properly), but it's getting pretty annoying...
I've also noticed that PS CC will only let me save in something like 12 or 13 different file formats; CS6 gives me close to double the file format options. CC is missing BMP, IFF, JPEG 2000, PCS, TARGA, and several other formats (not that I work with most of those, mind you, but it is a little strange that they've all just vanished...).
What's the scoop? why it would have just randomly stopped working? Maybe broken by a CC update...?
I'm running both CC and CS6 on OSX 10.7.5. CS6 has the Magic Bullet Photolooks 3rd party plugin installed, but CC doesn't have any 3rd party plugins.
I started a project in CS5, saved it, left it open, then opened the same file in CS6. Then I started steadily working on the file in CS6 for about 20 minutes. I saved frequently while working in CS6. Then Photoshop crashed, I believe because I had several smart objects open at once. However, when I checked the file I had been saving, it was still in an identical state to when I stopped working on it in CS5. Not only that, but the "recovered file" was about 10 minutes behind in CS6.

I have also found this [URL]....which is an open source version of this progame which might hold some clues into make the TPF file openable in paint.net.
If it is possible, make a plug-in for Paint.NET to open this file format. I do not know how to code so I can't do anything about it. If not then it doesn't matter as I will try find some other way around it.
I would like to be able to save all open Illustrator files at once.
For example: I am working on a series or collection of designs. Each design has multiple artboards in it that make the files rather large. I am making minute changes to each one that require grunt work. I would like to be able to open 10-20 files at a time, copy and paste the chagnes i need, hit Save All and walk away. So is there a way: a command, a script, something that does this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently my photoshop CS5 has been playing up and often when I try to save files it will freeze at the point of clicking ok and crash. Today also it crashed when I tried to open a photoshop file.This is incredibly frustrating as I'm a graphic designer and trying to complete some urgent work but I'm getting nowhere because nothing I'm doing is saving and I have to keep starting over. It's literally crashed about 40 times the past day and I'm wasting so many hours that I just don't have.
My version as mentioned is CS5 and I updated it yesterday with no avail.

I don't think I've done anything for this to start happening it just came out of nowhere..I usually only do the same few things with the program and also havn't altered files or even the computer.
My 8 core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro has 10 GB RAM and a blank 100 GB scratch disk. Photoshop is always quick. Has been for years. Suddenly today, Photoshop is slow like molasses to open & save files. Lots of progress bars and wait cursors. Everything else on the Mac is fine. It boots quickly & normally, and other apps are happy. My boot drive, a clean installed Mountain Lion system, says S.M.A.R.T. Status: Verified. In Activity Monitor, a process with ID # 0, Kernel Task, was using 700 to 800 MB RAM, while another process, mds, with ID # 44, is using 350 MB RAM.
I should add that I booted from a backup system and its copy of Photoshop was also doing the same thing. In addition, a high level troubleshooter on Apple Discussions informed me that my present level of 500 MB RAM for Kernel Task is normal. So all I know is Photoshop is suddenly slow.
I just replaced the hard drive in my laptop. I have installed Coreldraw 12 again and it opens and works fine.
Problem is when I create and save a file. The file appears on the desktop ( if that is where I save it ) but it has an odd icon with a red A on the bottom corner. If I click on it, I get a "not a valid win32 application" message.
However if I open Corel12 and import the file, it appears to be fine.
I have ps 7 with image ready. Whenever I try to open a file in image ready I get the following error message.
"Could not complete this operation becuase an assertion has failed."
If I open the file in PS first and then switch to Image ready it will work but then I egt the same error message when trying to save it.
I have re-installed ps but still no luck.
After using for a few weeks, I have had a few crashes, but this morning, I could not save a photo "Due to program Error" (no codes etc). Closing out that file and losing the edits, but now I cannot open any new file? Again "due to program Error". Working on Christmas cards and gifts. Running Macbook Pro with ample disk space and hard drive availibitly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work in a print shop that prints biggish stuff. I will frequently have files that postscript to close to a GB or more. Working on simple vector art with a few images in CC is not too much of a problem, but I still notice CC is slower than CS 6. The big problem is when I get a few 200mb PDF's, or files with layers of transparent PSD files in them etc, big busy files, then AI CC really bogs down, or frequently crashes altogether. CS 6 is MUCH better. I don't have the font issues, AI CC works fine with simple files. Saving & opening these big files is such a problem, I just save them back to CS 6, but that causes problems too, I do not want to, nor should I have to have 2 versions open at the same time.
I always try to optimize the files as best possible, but it is tough sometimes as they R supplied by the customer, and the time it takes. We save to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box over gigabit network, which I know is not best practice, but no choice with the sheer volume of files. Would B insane to try to keep track & copy them back & forth, and it was never a big issue with CS 6. I am the first victim in our office, but the other 3 Mac Pro's will B switching over to CC this week, and I know the operators will B crying.

I have recently installed Corel X6 and have found it to be painfully slow when opening files. At first I had thought it might be a network issue so I copied the file to a local drive and experienced the same problem.
The file is only 819Kb but it takes about 3 minutes to open the file. When I first select the file in the File Open dialogue window Corel just hangs for about 1 minute. It finally responds then takes a further 2 minutes to process and open the file.
I have turned off my antivirus software as I thought this might be a file scanning issue but still the same result.
I use CorelDRAW on a daily basis and recently the program takes a lot of time to open/close/save my files, or sometimes it'll simply freeze.

It can take over a minute just to get the Open dialog box up to browse for a file. Eventually, the dialog boxes open, but during the time that it's trying to open, the program is unresponsive. It is happening with all of my CS6 programs. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no fix. The programs are updated.

I work on multiple projects across a complex network and I have to manually navigate through all the folders each time, and I can't copy & paste a location like I could if I was browsing through Windows normally. I have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.

Since we got that out of the way let's get to it.
A week ago I was told that a lot of times the PC's freeze when you try to "Save", "Save as" or "Open" a file (we open/save on a network drive). If that happens we have to restart the PC and hope it doesn't happen again, but since this happens quite a lot (over the course of four days about 27 times on 7 PC's) I tried to fix this.
I installed the patch, updated the drivers for the graphic card and reinstalled NET Framework 4. The problem didn't occur as often but it still happened sometimes.
I have working code for opening a cad drawing from an external program. That is perfect.
how can I force a drawing that is NOT readonly to open as readonly from outside cad.
