AutoCad :: Getting 3D Text In Gothic G Font?

Sep 19, 2011

I am having problems producing 3D text in "Gothic G" font. I can produce 3D text with the “Tahoma” font as is seen in the picture. However, when I go through the same procedure with the Gothic G font I get the following error message after trying to extrude the text in the “Model” window:

“Could not build this extrusion Self- intersecting loop found in this profile. Remove the intersection by adding a sketch point at the curve intersections or by changing non-profile geometry to constructive geometry"

I have also noticed that other fonts upon trying to be extruded produce the same falure message.

What is the procedure to produce 3D text in Gothic G and the other fonts that produce the same error message?

Photoshop :: Kozuka Gothic Font

Apr 10, 2009

Recently installed Photoshop CS4 on WIndows Xp. By default, the Kozuka Gothic fonts are installed. I don't necessarily need them and in an effort to maintain a clean fonts folder, I removed them along with the rest of the extra fonts that are loaded. I now get an error when I open certain PS files. Error is as follows: This file uses one or more fonts which are unavailable on this machine. Open anyway?  I'm opening Illustrator-generated EPS files with all fonts converted to path. Does anyone know if the Kozuka fonts are necessary for Photoshop to open blank or existing documents? Maybe it's a required font for the program to run. Similar to MARLETT.TTF in Windows which holds fonts necessary for scroll bars and things like that.

Illustrator :: Century Gothic Incorrect Display

Apr 21, 2013

Not sure if this is an Illustrator or Acrobat question!? I created a document in Illustrator CS6 using the font Century Gothic. I converted the text to outlines then saved the document as a PDF. When the document is viewed in Acrobat Pro or Reader, the lowercase letter "L" does not display properly. It's as if the pixel depth is not granular enough, so it increases the width of the letter. If I zoom in past 200% the letter seems to display properly, but anything below that it displays oddly. I sent the exact same file to my DropBox account, downloaded it onto my iPad (retina) and the letters look just fine; same with my iPhone.

Screenshot: [URL]

Note: This happens whether I create/view on my Mac or my PC. Additionally, if I do not convert to outlines, the font displays just fine. Regardless of the display, the document always prints correctly. I've experienced this since CS3, but never cared too much since most of my documents were for print only. Now many of my docs will be viewed rather than printed, therefor proper display rendering is a much bigger issue.

Photoshop :: Text Box/font :: Only See A Tiny Black Line In Text Box

GIMP :: How To Extract Text And Font From Text Layer

Aug 8, 2011

Gimp 2.6.8 on Linux openSUSE 11.3

I need to extract text and font from a text layer. No problem, I thought, with gimp-text-layer-get-text and gimp-text-layer-get-font.

But I find that the original text layer was cropped withplug-in-autocrop-layer. Nevertheless Gimp lets me edit the text with the text edit tool - after a confirmation dialog.

But I can't get the text with script-fu. Is there a way to manage it? There are many files involved.

AutoCAD LT :: Manage Text Styles Under Font Name

Jan 4, 2012

I just upgraded from AutoCAD LT 2005 to AutoCAD LT 2012.  I commonly used a font that, on the 2005 version, was called a1.shx.  It has been replaced, on the 2012 version, with archstyl.shx.  When I go to "Manage Text Styles", under the "Font Name" there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it before the font name "archstyl.shx".  I am assuming this means that the font is not currently available on my system because it is replaced with the simplex.shx (which I read was the default alternate font under "substitute fonts" in the users guide).  There is not a font style on my current system that suffices as a replacement to the font I used on the 2005 version of AutoCAD LT. Is there anyway to import the old font to AutoCAD 2012? Is there a way to put new fonts on my system so that I can find an adequate replacement?

AutoCad :: Change Global Text Font

Dec 6, 2006

Basically, we get documents from other people and we convert those to our formats to do our work. We use a font called Simplex, but sometimes their document is filled with, like, Comic Sans or something stupid.

The match properties command doesn't seem to change font, just size and alignment. When I use the font properties dialog box, I can set simplex as the font, but when I make new text, it still matches their comic sans.

So two questions: How do I change the default font for the document so that all new text is the way I want it?

And is there a LISP routine which will find all text and change the font property and stuff the way I want it? For multi-line and single line text.

Also note, I've tried selecting all the text and editing properties, but font is not one of the properties I can change. To change font, I have to edit every piece of text one by one. And then ONLY multiline text has the properties to change font. I don't even know how to change the font of a single line text object.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Extrude Text With Specific Font Type

Aug 21, 2012

I'm trying to extrude some text with the font type "CommercialScript BT". In Inventor 2011 this was not a problem. In Inventor 2012 and 2013 I get the error:

Create extruded feature failed
Part4: Errors occurred during update
Extrusion3: Could not build this Extrusion

Self-intersecting loop found in this profile.  Remove the intersection by adding a sketch point at curve intersections or by changing non-profile geometry to construction geometry.

Is there a way to solve this? I have tried to extrude other fonts without any problem. I can also extrude one single letter with the font "CommercialScript BT" without any problem but as soon as I writes a word I get the error.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Unable To Emboss Stretched Text With Custom Font?

Sep 6, 2013

I am engraving a company logo on to the outside of a round tube with a custom font.  There are two boxes of text that I am engraving.  The first box works just fine with the "Emboss" tool.  The second line works fine when the "% Stretch" parameter in the text edit window is left at 100%.  When I change the "% Stretch" to 85%, I get the "Self-intersecting loop found in this profile" error message.  I get this error message when I try stretching it to 115% as well.  I changed the font to a standard font and I was able to emboss the text no matter the "% Stretch" value.

The bottom line is Inventor will not emboss text that has a custom font and a modified stretch percentage. This line of text must be stretched to match the company logo.
