Photoshop :: Kozuka Gothic Font
Apr 10, 2009Recently installed Photoshop CS4 on WIndows Xp. By default, the Kozuka Gothic fonts are installed. I don't necessarily need them and in an effort to maintain a clean fonts folder, I removed them along with the rest of the extra fonts that are loaded. I now get an error when I open certain PS files. Error is as follows: This file uses one or more fonts which are unavailable on this machine. Open anyway? I'm opening Illustrator-generated EPS files with all fonts converted to path. Does anyone know if the Kozuka fonts are necessary for Photoshop to open blank or existing documents? Maybe it's a required font for the program to run. Similar to MARLETT.TTF in Windows which holds fonts necessary for scroll bars and things like that.

Sep 19, 2011I am having problems producing 3D text in "Gothic G" font. I can produce 3D text with the “Tahoma” font as is seen in the picture. However, when I go through the same procedure with the Gothic G font I get the following error message after trying to extrude the text in the “Model” window:
“Could not build this extrusion Self- intersecting loop found in this profile. Remove the intersection by adding a sketch point at the curve intersections or by changing non-profile geometry to constructive geometry"
I have also noticed that other fonts upon trying to be extruded produce the same falure message.
What is the procedure to produce 3D text in Gothic G and the other fonts that produce the same error message?
Illustrator :: Century Gothic Incorrect Display
Apr 21, 2013Not sure if this is an Illustrator or Acrobat question!? I created a document in Illustrator CS6 using the font Century Gothic. I converted the text to outlines then saved the document as a PDF. When the document is viewed in Acrobat Pro or Reader, the lowercase letter "L" does not display properly. It's as if the pixel depth is not granular enough, so it increases the width of the letter. If I zoom in past 200% the letter seems to display properly, but anything below that it displays oddly. I sent the exact same file to my DropBox account, downloaded it onto my iPad (retina) and the letters look just fine; same with my iPhone.

Note: This happens whether I create/view on my Mac or my PC. Additionally, if I do not convert to outlines, the font displays just fine. Regardless of the display, the document always prints correctly. I've experienced this since CS3, but never cared too much since most of my documents were for print only. Now many of my docs will be viewed rather than printed, therefor proper display rendering is a much bigger issue.
Photoshop :: Upgrading From Bamboo To Intuous 5 Touch Medium / Setting To Flip Upside Down
Nov 19, 2012I'm thinking of upgrading from the Bamboo to the Intuous 5 touch Medium. However, I'd like to know if there is a setting or preference to flip it upside down and use it. I am a lefty and want to be able to rest my palm on the left side of the tablet. As is, looks like this one has some buttons on the left, and I am concerned that they would be sensitive enough to pick up on the weight of my palm at times and cause problems.
Can it be flipped upside down (re-oriented) and used so built in buttons on the right-hand side? Looks like this one is wireless, so it might be a possibility?

I bought a new wide screen monitor (Led) resolution setup as 1920 x 1080. When I try to adjust (*) buttons size in Draw in order to see icons a bit bigger, I can not get "Medium Size" for Command Bars/Standard.
"Small" and "Large" works ok, but "Medium" nothing change (see pics. below).

Though better, the Font is still way smaller than I would like. Maybe it's just tougher for seniors? Can they not make the font adjustable? May 6, 2013It used to be that I very rarely used fonts within CS5 but recently I have. I realized that all of the fonts supposedly included with CS5 are not available via my drop down menu.
I then found these fonts in Windows/fonts so I copied all of those fonts into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts. These unavailble fonts are now listed in that folder but are still not available via the dropdown menu in PS CS5.
I've recently read that the fonts don't really even NEED to be in the Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts folder and that PS should actually make all of the fonts in Windows/Fonts available via the dropdown menu. Yes, I have restarted PS after copying the files and also tried rebooting my PC after copying the files. The fonts are still not available via the drop down text menu within PS even though all of them are now in both locations.

I think you should read the original mail again. Hint: "system fonts not shown" is not the problem, but the desired outcome.I have accidentally read a "not" into the original mail, thus it became "to get Gimp to *not* only show fonts from the user/fonts file"
The configuration to check is the fonconfig settings then, for example the the global, system-wide fonts.conf file. It may contain references to the global font directories, for example /usr/share/fonts/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. URL....
If you comment those out, then you can (and have to) add all font directories in GIMP's settings, for example.

Jul 9, 2008If I'm creating a Photoshop PDF in order to keep the type in vector format, will the font then be embedded in the PDF? I'm not rasterizing the type since I want it to stay vector, but then I'm worried that if I share the file someone else will have trouble with it. I made a Photoshop PDF yesterday that I needed to share -- I just sent the font along with it. I knew it would probably ask for the font if they attempted to edit it in Photoshop -- but if they just printed it from the PDF maybe it would be embedded? Acrobat is listing it as an embedded subset, but I don't see how it can be embedded if the editing capabilities are still there.
