If I don't want to VP Freeze everything on that layer, is there a way to individually VP Freeze certain objects on one layer? (without having to make new layers?)
The sitch: Making a ceiling plan, some dims are needed in all the other plans, but some are not needed in the ceiling plan. How can I simply turn "off" in the VP the few separate Dims I don't need? And that they can still turn up like normal in all the other VPs?
I'm new at Xara Xtreme and I just bought a vector image from iStock. It says that the image can easily be edited. Here is the image [URL]....
I want to split things up and move each individual globe and put arrange them to my specifications. I can't figure out how to move or edit the individual objects, it's all one layer. Can this be done? For example can the globe with the numbers around it be moved to the left of the screen and the other four globes be removed? I know this can be done with technical skills, but can this be done by a beginer?
how to edit revit objects in 3dsMax. How do I separate objects to make them individual objects? In other words, when I try to select the roof, I get ALL objects that are "dimensional lumber" i.e. I joists, roof, fascia, etc.
I tried selecting a roof polygon and making a copy and editing it but still when I apply materials to this polygon they apply to all of the dimensional lumber. Probably because I made a copy as a clone but it didn't give me the "copy" option.
I have a drawing file with lots of layouts, some of which have multiple viewports. I want to create a new layer and use it in just a few viewports. Is there a way to set the default vpfreeze setting to frozen for new layers? That way I can just thaw it in a few viewports instead of trying to vpfreeze it in a lot.
I have Note label Style objects and Marker Style Objects that have layers assigned to them. When I bring a Note label or Marker Style into the drawing, it comes in on the zero layer. I know that the object layers of the drawing settings are controlling this. Is it possible to have the Note labels and/or Markers come in on the assigned layers of their Styles?
I have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I need to scale up about 300 circles (manholes) but i need to hold the center point of each manhole. is there a command for this so i don't have to scale each individual circle?
I have been given a set of plans by a client to design a system on. The plans have a lot of layers and information on them that I don't need/want to merge to a base layer. If I click on anything on the plans everything gets select and is layer 0. I originally thought these were just poorly made plans but if I go through the layers in the toolbar and turn them off individually it works.
Its like somehow all the layers have been linked to layer 0 but are actually individual layers .
In model space I've created a house plan with layers for Mechanical, Plumbing, Electric, furniture, etc. I've also created in numerous Layouts (paper space) created my view ports of the base plan. I want to turn on/off individual layers in each of those Layouts. How is that done?
I have numerous text objects I want to rotate 180 while retaining each text objects insertion point. There's got to be an easy way to do this.
Long explanation: I created an annotation template to label pipe diameters on an imported shapefile. Everythings good, labels are parallel with lines, except for the fact that some labels are upside down. Is there an expression that would eliminate this? In my annotation template, my rotation expression equals the "angle" field of the object. My "quick and dirty" fix was to burst the annoation labels, and manually rotate necessary text, which wasn't a huge headache since I'm dealing with a relatively small number of labels, but in the future I might have hundreds of upside down labels.
Is there a way (script possibly) to break multiple splines to individual spline objects? More specifically i want to find a quick way, when i have many splines (attached together) to make each spline (spline element) a separate spline (such as selecting it and detaching it). Unfortunately the "explode" command breaks each segment and not spline to an individual object, while selecting and detaching each one is not an option since i have to deal with hundreds or thousands of splines (produces by hair & fur).
I have a complex vector group of objects (logo) that uses text, paths, etc... I am duplicating this grouped object, and trying to design a press wall with the logo repeated multiple times. I duplicate the logo multiple times and place them on the page, but when I try to use the "distribute objects" tool, it breaks up my logo(s) into their consituent objects and distibutes the pieces on the page, which is very annoying... how do I keep my logo together AND be able to distribute it evenly across my banner?
This is probably just me not being up to speed yet, but once I combine a set of polygons, is there an easy way to still change the attributes of the original individual objects?
Prior to combining them, each object appears in the Outliner individually and I can select it there and change its attributes...color, etc. But I need to lock them together to keep their relative positions, and combining them does that perfectly. But afterward, the individual list in the Outliner doesn't seem to work anymore...the 'polysurface1' that was created has all the attributes crammed together, and having to scroll through all the tabs is a pain in the neck. Isn't there some way to combine objects and still readily change the colors or other attributes of the separate parts? Or, as I originally wondered about, is there an easier way to hold them in position without combining them?
I have several .dwg files that I use as templates. I run find and replace VBA routines on the template .dwg files, ie find $Flavor$ and replace it with "Grape", and then I save the .dwg to another directory with a new name.
These VBA routines work well for acdbText and acdbMText objects, but I have a bunch of AcdbAttributeDefinition objects in the .dwg templates as well.
After much research about the AutoCAD object model (I'm mostly a Microsoft Access VBA programmer), I have come to understand that these AcdbAttributeDefinition objects are actually "remnants" of a block that no longer exists in the drawing.
Anyway, I'd like to convert all of these orphaned AcdbAttributeDefinition objects to acdbText objects in the templates and then delete the AcdbAttributeDefinition objects. I have some code that does just that.
However, the issue that I am having with the code is that the newly created acdbText objects are not on the same layer that the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects were on. I don't know the syntax to identify what layer the AcdbAttributeDefinition object is on or how to specify what layer on which the acdbText object is created.
how to keep the acdbText objects on the same layers as the original AcdbAttributeDefinition objects during the conversion and deletion process?
Here is the code I am using currently:
Sub AttConvert(dwg as string)Dim oDocument as AcadDocumentDim ent as AcadEntityDim aa as objectset oDocument = Documents.open(dwg) For Each ent In oDocument.ModelSpace If ent.ObjectName = "AcDbAttributeDefinition" Then' DO SOMETHING TO IDENTIFY WHAT LAYER THE ACDBATTRIBUTEDEFINITION OBJECT IS ON ' DO SOMETHING TO SPECIFY THAT THAT IS THE LAYER TO CREATE THE ACDBTEXT OBJECT ON Set aa = ThisDrawing.ModelSpace.AddText(ent.TagString, ent.InsertionPoint, ent.Height) End If Next ent For Each ent In ThisDrawing.ModelSpace If ent.ObjectName = "AcDbAttributeDefinition" Then ent.Delete End If Next ent End Sub
I'm just testing out the new CS6 extended version and am on the trial period using a mac.
My problem is in editing the 3d objects I have imported. These were imported in 3ds format and contain numerous different elements (over 50) within the same file. All are neatly to scale and positioned correctly in relation to one another.
I need to be able to edit these individual elements within photoshop and assign different materials. I can't seem to separate these individual objects onto different layers in order to work with them further. In addition, although I can scale or move the elements, I cannot delete them without deleting the whole layer.
I have tried looking at merge 3D layers but as I only have one layer it doesn't work. How can I assign these objects to different layers without importing each element separately into photoshop (and therefore losing their scale and position)?
I have a bunch of objects on a particular layer, and they're all different colors and linetypes and lineweights, and i want them to all take on the color / linetype / lineweight that i chose for that layer.. how do i do this?
I have been doing some work recently with stencils, which involves me using illustrator to do a cutout-type effect using the "live trace" function. It works very well for making stencils that I can enlarge many times. The problem I have encountered is with working with more than 3 layers- it is very hard to distinguish colors from each other, especially in more complex stencils, after they have been cut out.
I have been searching for an option (or seperate program) that would allow me to automatically separate the colors (there are never more than 15) onto individual layers, one color per layer.
Say I have 2 items, one is on layer "M-Duct" and the other on "M-Pipe" (they are in the same drawing). Any lisp routine that would create the layers "M-Duct-New" and "M-Pipe-New" (based on the same color and LT as the original layers) and then move those objects to the newly created layers?
I am using ACAD 2005 and am trying to copy&paste several objects from a layer I created in one .dxf file to one of the 2 standard layers (0 or Defpoints) in a new blank .dxf file.
My problem though is that if I copy and paste all of the objects (or even one of them) and them move to the new file and paste, it pastes the objects, but also "imports" into the new file the original file's layer that these objects were on.
For clarity, the new file only has the 2 standard layers and then after copy/pasting an object, the file manager shows the 3rd layer from the original file.
All the items are on one layer and i need to seperate them, i had to xref the drawing but i opened the original to double check and even there the objects are all on the same layer.
I have a drawing created where the lineweights for each object have not been associated by layer. I would like them to be so. Is there an easy way to capture all of the objects on a given layer and associate all their lineweights by layer?
Currently, when I'm converting architectural drawings into backgrounds for my use, one of the first things I do is select certain objects based on their layer and delete them en mass.
I'm using the QSelect dialog box at the moment, but that's really difficult. I would try writing a LISP or something, but I don't know of a command line version of the QS command to make it work.
Is there a way that I can select one object, and make it select all the other objects in the drawing that are on the same layer? The QS command is handy, but very tedious.
I am using Autocad 11. I am working on some 12 year old drawings for a railroad museum. They are a mess. They look like they were done be an old pencil guy. Lots of views all over the drawing space rather than using layers to his advantage.
I am watching all the tutorials that i can find. There are Blocks on wrong layers.
I want to move a group of lines (part of the stuff on one layer) onto a new layer that i have created. Is it as simple as cut and paste? How do I prevent them moving during the process?
I tried making their layer current, then selecting the items, then cutting the items. Then i made the new layer that I wanted them on Current, then pasted them. I has to very carefully line them back up, and they are still on the original layer.
I have a drawing with objects on multiple layers, however when I select an object, they all show as whtever layer is showing. If I open the drawing on antoher machine, everything works properly with multiple layers.
