Mar 14, 2013In a machine shop environment, the current practice is for an admin person to review the drawing, then take down all dimensions and enter them manually into Excel. Is there an easier way to export data to Excel so that I can have the dimension reports rather than doing them manually. The second question is on the ability to save the document as a .pdf, although I think this is possible.

The first problem is that the table is coming out with text all over the place, not properly formatted. When I click on the table it's covered by some kind of frame or hatch-like. Mar 22, 2011A coworker and I are having the same problem with dimensions. For example, we have a polyline that has been dimensioned and then we will either need to trim or break a small portion out. When we trim or break the line the dimensions on that line fly all over the place so we end up needed to re-dimension everything. We have had this problem in AutoCAD 2008, 2010, and 2011. Maybe we need to change a variable? The polylines have a zero Z-axis and it does not happen everytime we trim or break but enough to become annoying. Our CAD Manager had as try to disassociate the dimension, break the line, and then reassociate it but that didn't work; the dimensions were still shifted around.

Mar 26, 2011I am designing a RCC Dam and the shape of the dam is constant and will not change, but the dimensions of this shape are very likely to change depending upon hydraulic analysis.
I have written a program (irrelevant, but I am using MathCad 14) that performs a stability analysis of a RCC Dam (based on elevations from the hydraulic analysis) and then exports the dam dimensions and coordinates to Excel.
I am attempting to then take those coordinates (or dimensions) from Excel to create a 2-D dimensioned drawing of the Dam in AutoCAD.
I have successfully linked the Excel spreadsheet containing these coordinates and dimensions to AutoCad tables in my drawing, but I am having trouble getting AutoCAD to update my drawing as these tables update with different coordinates and dimensions.
I would like to have a drawing that is fully dimensioned (as the shape of the dam will not change), but that will update coordinates and dimensions as I pump out different dam dimensions from my stability analysis.

In that one is the standard company file and I want to build a sepearte workbook for my purposes (making specific paper spaces etc...) but I want to use their model space for the model space of my workbook. Also if possible to export would this exported model space make changes when changes were made on the original copy?

Revit :: Cannot Place Radial Dimensions In Sections Derived
Feb 23, 2011We have an issue here where a user has N/S/E/W elevations of a building or radial type layout. Then there are sections derived from these elevations. If you open up the section pointing north and south you can place radial dimensions on the view needed. If you go into the section pointing east/west you cannot. It starts the command, just doesn't allow you to pick anything. I will post a sample file in a sec.

That is everything that is updated from the drawing register is upper case when we want lower case.

Apr 18, 2012I've made a big calculation in a Pipe Stress Analysis program and the program has auto created 10 autocad drawings that is used to find points in the system.The problem is that the program has random numbered (with no intelligence) and now I have a big report which for example points at a number some where in the 10 drawings, which is hopeless to find.
Can I somehow:
1. Find all numbers in this drawing.
2. Put them into Excel.
3. Sort them after size.
4. Add an extra column which tells which drawing I can find the number.
5. Last put all the numbers from all the drawing into one Excel sheet and sort them after size, now I have a number index, so I can find which number is in which drawing.
Can Autocad find all numbers in a drawing and let me copy them to Excel for editing?

Oct 28, 2010I want to link an excel sheet with a drawing, so changing the excel changes the drawing.
I used this awesome site to learn about going to Edit->Paste Special->Paste Link->AutoCAD Entities...but I don't have that choice. Just the one that makes the OLE image. While that will work, that is less than ideal. It appears in just normal paste, but not under paste link.

PS: I checked the properties of the excel table and it is linked.

So for example, i have line that is currently dimensioned. The dimension call out is using the text override feature and it's currently labeled "Fs = 4in". In my excel spreadsheet, cell A1 has the value 8, how do i make the text in the autocad now say "Fs = 8in"?

Dec 4, 2012Everytime I open up a new drawing an error pops up that there is (2) Xref that cant load. It seems to be the same (2) Excel files I have to go to the Datalink Manager and delete them. Is there any way to get in the Datalink Manager without opening a drawing to unlink these?
