I tried many times to paste excel table into autocad using paste special/paste link/autocad entities/. The first problem is that the table is coming out with text all over the place, not properly formatted. When I click on the table it's covered by some kind of frame or hatch-like. I am using 2010 Office pro Excel. See attached.
View 6 RepliesI am using VB.net to generate a custom table in my .idw files to make a plot stamp. The table is showing up, however, the text is garbled. When you open the .idw, the table properties show the text correctly but the display is coming out messed up. I have attached a picture of what each looks like. I moved the table off the sheet for clarity.

I'm trying to paste in things like "N.G.", "Top of Bank", "Edge of Water" all at certain points to annotate the topography. I've tried the following:
text N.G 800,90
text Top of Bank 820,90
But I keep getting the prompt for annotation angle and it gets stuck there so I tried:
text N.G 800,90 90
text Top of Bank 820,90 90
But the same thing occurs. I need the text to be vertical. I've done some searching here, but haven't come up with much. I don't want to resort to creating blocks and importing the attributes as I'm sure it's much easier than that.
We have a whole bunch of spreadsheets that we use for calculations and parts of those spreadsheets are linked to a ton of CAD Drawings via data links.
We would like to be able to deliver the CAD drawings to the client without having to send our calculation books (just the output tables). In other words, is it possible to embed the table data and remove the excel link for the final delivery?
I have an issue with copying cells containing text from Microsoft Excel 2011 for Mac and pasting them into Illustrator CS5. I select the whole cell(s) from Excel, open a blank Ai document and, without anything selected so the format is preserved, I paste the cells.
The issue comes with the resulting copy of the cells in Ai. The type which was bold in Excel is bold in Ai... but not really. Ai pastes the bolded text as not bold, but then makes a copy of that same text, puts a stroke on it, then places that over the regular text, so it looks bold. But now I have two copies of the same word, one regular and one with a stroke on it right on top of one another.
This normally wouldn't be an issue but I have to edit this info in Ai later - and there's a second problem. When I paste the bold text from Excel in Ai, the resulting word is broken up into individual text blocks for each letter. Instead of preserving the whole word as one editable text block, I now have to click on each letter to change it.
There is a catch 22 to these problems: These cells that I am copying from include bolded and regular text, and the regular text pasted into Ai without any problems (even the text blocks are preserved). So it's the bold text that is causing the problems
I have a feeling this has to do with how the individual cells are formated in Excel, but I have to copy data from many different cells made by many different people, so I am at a loss of what to do.
I have include a screen shot of what's going on with cells after I paste them in Ai. I have moved the oulined "5" up so you can see the regular "5" below it.
is it possible to import a microsoft excel table to auto cad and have it be autocad lines and text? it is a rather large table and would save me alot of time if i didnt have to redraft it.

I have been able to update the tables in AutoCAD and print without any problems. However, when a second user opened the drawing, the table text was missing (the lines were present).
Note: We are saving our files in AutoCAD 2010 format for compatibility with some LT users.
I am new to VBA for Autocad and have basic knowledge of Autocad, but have experience with VBA with EXCEL. I am trying to search for text written on to a drawing that has been written as plain text. There is no table. I am writing code to open each drawing in the file as a for each next loop and then find text, then copy text to a table cell, in a table set up within the loop statement. Then I intend to transfer the data to Excel. When I copy the text into the cells of the table and transfer to Excel, the text does not transfer. Is there something I need to do to re-format the text copied straight from the drawing into the table cell. The drawngs have been produced by some external drafting service provider, most likely in India. The functionality of Autocad has not been used and therefore, there are no tables. The text titles, sub-titles etc... are just basically text with lines drawn around them, to simulate a table that looks like a table but are infact not.
My main problem is copying the plain text (titles, sub-titles, references etc...) into a table cell for export to Excel. Any knowledge of copying Autocad plain text to Autocad table cells
In the column Description from a I-assembly table I will place the text Test<200. Than I get a error message "Detected potentially damaging errors in the table. Unable to interpret cel: " ". It goes wrong with this symbol <. How do i get this symbol normal as a text in this column?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn our company, we put Excel tables in our drawings. The reason we've chosen for Excel-tables is that we can adjust the layout of the table quite easily. These tables consist of grouped cells in a particular company-specific layout. We select the range of the desired cells, copy and paste them in our AutoCAD drawing. This drawing is sent to our customers. The disadvantage of this method is, that when our customers (who use CAD-software of other brands) open the dwg, they don't see the table, but some kind of picture of the table.
Is there a way to 'explode' the excel-table, but keep the specific layout of the table? For attributes in blocks there's the 'Explode Attributes'-command in the Express-tools, but is there something similar for Excel-tables?

Everything works fine when you start a new drawing, however, when one tries to insert the template into an existing drawing or thru a new layout, the table that is our title block comes in mirrored with the rows and columns all out of whack.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been creating charts in Excel 2004 for Mac for years and copying them into Illustrator. They have always previously pasted into Illustrator as vectors illustrations. I've created hundreds of charts in Excel before and copied them to Illustrator to "dress them up" for reports with no problems. I just created a chart in Excel 2004 for Mac and copied it to Illustrator and it came in as a picture. This is the first time I have ever had this happen with an Excel chart.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from CS3 to CS5 and I'm running into a major issue. When I used to copy charts from Excel into Illustrator CS3 it would paste in as vector artwork, but now with CS5 it pastes in as a jpeg image.
I'd like the excel charts to paste in as they used to with CS3 as vector artwork with paths, strokes and text.
We are using Office 2013 and PS CS6. We have a problem where we copy and paste Thai text from an Excel doc into Photoshop CS6. The text copies over fine but there are small double stacked characters on some letters that merge when copied. Here's an example showing Excel on the bottom and PS CS6 on the top. Notice the red character in the Excel doc. The small double stack characters merge once copied into PS CS6:
How do I get these charactes to appear correctly?
I am using Corel Draw X5. When I paste an Excel graph into Corel the resolution looks terrible. I can paste this same graph into most other programs and it looks fine. No matter what I do and no matter which special paste command I use I am not happy with the resolution of the graph - you can actually see the pixels. When I convert to PDF you can still see the pixels.

After downloading some language packs the Excel file shows up correctly on my PC. I want to copy and paste the file into Corel. It works fine except some characters show up as a question mark. Most characters (80%) show up fine however.
I have Windows XP, Office 2003, Corel X5, and no understanding of the Chinese language.
I have a table imported into autocad from excel, however despite the table (excel) being formatted, border lines appropriately placed and hidden througout the sheet, all off the border lines of the cells appear when imported into autocad.
is there anything i can do to hide back some border lines for selected cells?
I have a number of tables which have all properties about the pipe network with the cooridnates and upstream/ downstream info. Can it import to C3D and automatically generate the pipe to 3D?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use an embedded excel file I a lot of my drawings. 90% of the time a double click opens excel for editing with no problem. But every so often I get a stubborn one that just will not open. It will select and the quick properties box will appear and then the properties box, but nor firing up of Excel. Usually if I am persistent I can get it to work, but I have one right now that is more stubborn than I am.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would copy the excel table that I need, go to AutoCAD 2010 and use PASTESPEC , then choose AutoCAD entities. After I resize it and whatnot, I would then print it.
For some reason, the first row wouldn't print correctly. Sometimes the words get cut off or it doesn't show at all. If I were to move my drawing up to that portion of the paper, the drawing appears fine.
So that rules out a printer alignment issue, is it the excel table itself? Fonts and font color are standard across the table, so I'm baffled by this little problem.
Any better way to copy an excel table into a CAD file? The method I use will end up having the table appearing as a small, miniscule table, I always have to drag it up to resize and change the font size etc. etc.I'm guessing I have to set a default annotation scale for it?
I inserted a table from excel to autocad with copy-edit/paste special/paste link / Microsoft excel worksheet(code) and everything seems to work nice until I closed the excel. After that no automatic updates to cad files.
PS: I checked the properties of the excel table and it is linked.

I don't want it as an OLE object (as I need to be able to edit it in AutoCad later if needed) and I don't want it as a datalink either, so what is the best way to do this?
I was trying to just copy the cells although kept getting all cells ending up in each row/column. I believe it is possible somehow as I am sure I have done it multiple times before although can't work out how to do it now.
Is there a correlation between the font size I use in an Excel spread sheet & the font size on the imported table on the drawing? My spread sheet font size is 8 point. I seem to recall that a point is 1/72" so my 8 point text should be 0.111" high on the drawing. When I import the table I get text that is 0.0556" high - looks like half the height of my spread sheet text. I tried doubling the spread sheet text to 16 point hoping it would end up half size on my drawing (0.111") but this time it is 0.125" high. The scaling of imported table text is inconsistent. I know I can change the properties of the drawing table to get what I want but it would be easier if there was a fixed relationship between Excel & AutoCAD table text height.
