I have managed to create a 2 storey house complete with roof (i.e ground floor, 1st floor and roof).
I have got them all setup in the project navigator under constructs. I can view all three of these layers in 3D by changing the popdown in the view/popdown option but i can't see the 'full' house. i.e. as if i was looking down on the full house from above at an angle and can see the ground floor, 1st floor and roof all at once. I've seen examples in the main page under 'pctures of the week' so i know it can be done.
how to create a rear elevation or side view type drawing (how to do it so i can show someone, so i don't have a full grasp of the names of architectural plans).
I can't figure out how to adjust the size of the program screen when in Full Edit Mode. I can see portions of the Quick Fix menu and none of the Guided Fix menu. There seems to be no way to resize the window.
When looking at architect CAD drawings in magazines I notice that they use figures, trees, cars, etc. to add scale to the building. I'd like to be able to do the same.
Is it possible to import similar images into AutoCad 2014?
One other question: if I'm drawing a house plan and I have specified the wall thickness by drawing 2 lines to represent the outer and inner boundary, how do I 'fill' the thickness of the wall; as opposed to just leaving it white/empty?
I am trying to bild a ramp in 3d but i've been trying with no success, the ramp have a non common shape. pls look at the acad file to take a loot at the shape.
I need to have the top part at 5531mm and the bottom part at 0 and there is another part which is at 5035mm you can see that in the drrong and the ramp must 100mm thick or something similar. also i need to do it as a solid becouse i need to export it on a different software which only ecrpts solids.
i am part way through a C&G cad course and am struggling breaking away from drawing in a traditional pencil and paper style by using layout lines to position and centre things. the exercise i am working on is a basic building front with a doorway centrally positioned, this is all drawn using plines. you can hopefully see where i have put layout lines to position the roof apex and the doorway but i am sure there is an easier way of drawing it? The dimensions i have are 60 wide between the inner walls, 20 from the floor to the roof base fillet and 19 from the roof base fillet to the apex, the outer walls are just offset 1.5 from the inner. the doorway is 12*12*12.
I need to export a Corel building plan into AutoCad. I export the drawing as a DWG but when imported into Cad, all the line weights and various fills and colours have been lost. Is there a way to prevent this loss of line styles?
I'm having problems with Autocad Civil 3d 2012. I'm building a corridor of a curb gutter and sidewalk with a daylight of 2:1 on top of an EG surface. The corridor works for about 3/4 of the length but the last section won't connect the daylight to the existing ground surface. There are multiple sections of the corridor with different assemblies.
Here is a more detailed error report:
Type: Error Date: 11/5/2012 Time: 9:15:06 AM Source: Roadway User: engintern4 Description: 6+80.00': Failed Point Outside Surface.
I get about 33 of these errors each time the corridor rebuilds. I'm not sure whats going on, the corridor has targets set for the surface and still won't connect to it.
I am attempting to x-ref a building model that was drawn in 2013 MEP in a Civil3D drawing that contains the site surface. When I x-ref my building model into the site drawing and attempt to align and scale the building some of my walls become broken and missing. I have a feeling this is a scaling issue because on my site my north wall should be 24' long. The wall is 24' long in MEP, but that same 24' from Civil3D is only a 2' line segment in MEP. How to remedy this? I have tried scale the building model down in MEP first and it causes all kinds of problems with the door and window objects. I tried adjusting the x-ref scale prior to adding the x-ref and it does the same thing.
Ok I was able to build a title of my needs but what I'm not able to do is when I insert it to a new drawing i can't put in new text to the title block like (title, scale, job no., date, approved, check, job and so on) but i'm able to put in add text to the templates on auto desk so how do i get my title block like that.
I'm in the process of dimensioning a building with multiple layers but my Dim Ticks aren't working properly. On the first floor layer state the ticks show up for the first floor layer dimensions but also for every other floor but when i switch to dimension a 2nd floor the ticks are gone. I've looked through all of Dim Style settings and there seems to be no explanation for why this is happening .
I want to lay electrical conduits in my model but have problem when the conduit changes plane. how can i quickly lay conduits may be by using bends etc as blocks.. if possible... and then just extend conduits using extend command or just giving the distance....
bend.JPG
I have heard that Autocad MEP is great for laying electrical conduits etc. I tried using it but could not get desired results because of probably wrong settings. the biggest problem is the bend radius. also i would like to know how to use custom switch boxes and junction boxes as per my country standards.
Is there any way to resize (scale) building 150% but keep size of symbols and text.
If I do "scale" x1.5 then building and symbol and text changes size, but I do not want symbols and text to change size.
When building is resized I want all symbols/text to follow the resize change so they follow the building change at same places but keep their size.(so I do not need to replace all symbols/text)
Building and symbols are in different Layers.I think symbols are "block"
I've been given a floor plan of a building which I need to populate with smoke detectors. The smoke detectors are larger than the entire building. I've used the same smoke detectors on other floor plans and they've always been scaled properly.
I have made a building and would like to do some cam shots while doing a "walk" from room to room. Is this possible with a the cam on point of view angle? have tried it out with showcase but the keyframe animasjon only give me overview shots.
should i go for 3dmax or can i do it with inventor studio/showcase /publisher...
I've got a tool palette that I use which has about 5 or so tabs with about 10 to 50 standard blocks, tables, etc in each tab that is organized by text headers and dividers. It's such a productivity booster I exported the palette to a place on our server that everyone can import them from. My problem is that when they import the tool palettes, the icon images dont come in. We're left with manually updating all the images which is a problem when certain people "don't like change" and don't want to take the time to deal with the technical problems. Maybe I'm missing something, but shouldnt the images come in when you import the palettes? Andrew Ingram

I have created a building pad on my site and need to extract fill quantity. I set the elevations on my building and created a 5:1 grading object. to the existing ground.Autodesk Instructions are, for the actual building footprint, that I need to create a grading object at 1:1. for the area covered by the actual concrete pad. Need screen shot of the style settings of this grading criteria. because the area is flat it is impossible to determine if the floor area has been built. When I run sections and create volume reports the only fill quantity is from the grading objects that slope out from the pad. I must be overlooking a setting in the style for 1:1.
I seems that SolidWorks Live Building is better than Revit, so I'm going to wait until Autodesk buys it and tell us to forget Revit, as they did with AutoArchitect S8 and more recently with ADT:
I am building an assembly for a shoulder widening. the sholder is 5' paved plus 5' stabalized tying to existing grade at a 4:1 slope. The two shoulder sections are showing up in the cross section but the tie-down is not. I have checked the target and it is set properly to the existing ground.
I have been building a 3D DWG library of robots and other automation objects. What do I need to be doing to save the objects so that when one object is inserted into a new drawing with other objects to build a automation cell the objects are actually where I think I am placing them rather than off in space at the edge of reality?
I have been sent a client's construction drawing for a care home where i need to design the sprinkler installation. The majority of the rooms have got the same head positions within them, but they have all got a slightly different angle as the building is shaped like a banana. Unfortunately its not a uniform radius that i can tell as the one side is larger than the other.
So my question is this. Normally, on a square building, I drop in construction lines along the bedrooms so that i know my sprinkler heads are all the same distance off a wall, and I only need to line up one side. However, with this building being a curve, and the wall angle being slightly different on each room, how do I place an angled construction line or polyline to act as my set out line for my heads.
Any example of a demolitions drawing for an average sized building, showing interior partitions strip out, not sure if I have got it right and I am not sure how many other ways there are to show it,
I am mainly looking for different linetypes and legend with symbols
You know how you have a line/thread of Dims going across all the walls of a building?
Well, sometimes I need to adjust the placement of the line, and then I need to go back and select every-single-little-dimension in that line. Isn't there a way to bind them all together, so that they can move as one continuous line of Dims?
(When I make them, I make the first Dim with the Linear Dim tool and then do Continue to make the rest of the thread).
I've not used AutoCad for probably 15 years. I used it in my government job, but have forgotten many commands. I have inserted a building survey into a new DWG, and remember that I can find a dimension on that survey, and use it to begin a scale for the drawing, so that I may make additions to the building drawing.
I have an existing ground surface with all different z co-ords and im trying to add three proposed buildings to my exisiting ground with all the builidngs having a level of 32.5 as a minimum, however at some points the ground is higher than 32.5 and I only want to raise my existing ground to 32.5 within the proposed buidling layout if it is below 32.5 as im doing a flood calculation. What do i need to for this?
