URL....On first look it seems like a good way to improve the performance of AutoCAD, and hopefully reduce fatal error or at least recover from them quicker. I had recently suggested an upgrade to the machines by putting our autodesk software on SSD's but I'm hesitant to follow this up due to the read/write limitations SSD's currently suffer from.
We have just purchased the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection, but there appears to be no PDF Optimization Settings as per the following link when I save from Photoshop for example: https://createpdf.adobe.com/cgi-feeder.pl/help_cpdf?BP=&LOC=en_US
A previous place of work had these available and proved to be invaluable. Is there any way to enable these?
While trying to optimize images for my website [URL] .... I used a tool named 'RIOT', but I am not comfortable with that since I am a Photoshop user and likes utilize its potential to the fullest. I tried different preferences while saving processed images, but wasn't satisfied with the result. Some recommended settings that I can use to optimize images using photoshop CS5 ?
I need to batch optimize for the web a big amount of images contained in a two level folder structure.
By using Using Automate - Batch and running an action that exports the images using 'Save for Web & Devices', I can optimize all the images contained in my folder (including all sub folders). The problem is that they have to export into a single folder in my desktop (the path has to be indicated when creating the action and saving the image in 'Save for Web & Devices'.
solution would be to save the files in their original location, replacing the original file with the optimized one, keeping the original folder structure.
I've got myself in a bit of a muddle. I was messing around with the optimization settings the other day in Imageready. Now when I save my gifs they go all grainy. I've never had a problem before. I've tried putting it back to the default settings but it's still loosing alot of picture quality on saving. Is there a way to fix this?
optimizing images for my samsung d500 mobile phone, i am looking to save files as 16 or 18 bit JPEGs (the phone can display up to 18 bit images) but i have had trouble with this as my images always seem to be 24 bit when i save them (i have tried 8 bit, but 256 colours reduces the quality too much),
Every time I'm working in an Illustrator file with multiple layers and hundreds of objects on those layers that sometimes aren't grouped yet, I find it hard to select click on the objects in the layers panel on the right, selecting them via shift-click (you know, selecting all objects between the first and the last clicked object).
Is there a way I can select layer objects with the shift-option and afterwards have all of the items selected on the artboard? See the images for illustration.
When Lightroom tries to optimize my catalog (in Windows 7, 64 bit), I repeatedly get the following error message: "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit."
Windows 7, had everything working fine. Added SSD and installed system from scratch on SSD. Old drive is now my second drive.
Trying to put the scratch disk on the second (old) drive to reduce wear on the SSD. But every time I do, I get the disk error message and it erases all my settings (so annoying!)
I figure it's a permissions thing since I've had to deal with that already to some degree, but I don't know how to fix it since I don't know where adobe is trying to save the scratch file.
I am testing PSP X6 (I have all versions since V7) and now I get wrong files with the PNG Optimization. This functions used to write files with the extension png but now it writes png files with the extension pspimage. If you try to open such a file you will get error messages.
PSP seems to be back with version X6 with again destroyed old functions. It seems so as if will not buy the update this time. With each new version I get new bugs in old functions.
When the 'up' arrow appears in a thumbnail and comes up with the message:
The metadata for one or more of these photos has been changed by another application. Should Lightroom import settings from disk or overwrite disk settings with those from the catalog?
What exactly does that mean? This seems to happen every time I export an image to PS (CS5) and return to LR. What exactly has changed? What settings are being imported if I choose 'import settings from disk'.
This document has been damaged by a disk error. The most likely causes of this error are: a defective disk drive, a defective disk drive cable, or incorrect peripheral cable termination. Some of the pixels in this document may be invalid.
I'd like to format the memory stick that Inventor was shipped on. (Don't need it anymore) But when I tried to format the stick I got a error "The disk is write protected". Is it not possible to format the disk? I rather reuse it than throw it in the thrash..
I have created a round end cap with a flange for a tank. (Please see attached picture) We have a flanging machine that rolls the edges on round flat pieces of sheet metal. The issue is that no matter how I create this rolled flange in the model, I cannot get a flat pattern out of this.
We need to know the size of the blank before rolling the lip on it and I have tried using the contour flange and it doesn't work, I have tried revolving in sheet metal and it still will not create a round flat pattern. It seems that no matter what I do, it will not produce a round flat pattern. Is this something that can be done in inventor or am I just trying to do something that inventor is not yet capable of doing?
The AutoCAD LT 2012 crashes when I try to copy certain features to different locations. The size of the drawing file is about 3.2 MB. The error message reads as below
FATA ERROR: Cannot write to undo file (probably disk full).
Error: Unhandled Exception
There were some messages posted earlier in regard to this error. Most suggested cleaning temp directory, having more RAM, more graphics memory, etc. I have done everything but I could not overcome this problem. My system specifications are
16GB RAM, Windows 7 (64-bit), More than 100GB free disk space, NVIDIA GEforce GT-120 (512 MB).
I am using Civil 3D 2011, and the last 2 days I have been running into this issue. I tried google, and the most recent item google brought up was from May 2011, so I am coming here.
I am trying to import a tab from another drawing, and it does not matter which tab or what drawing, I am getting this issue.
Running PS CS6 on a Mac Pro, Mt. Lion 10.8.1, 10 GB RAM, 3.6 Tb on 4 internal drives. A new problem cropped up just today. Launching PS brings error msg Could not open because a dik was not aviable, and a 2nd msg Could not open a scratch file . . . . Removing Prefs file works, but there's a BUT: I can't change some prefs without the problem reoccurring.
I can reproduce the following: reinstall PS CS6, Change 1 preference, namely make another disk the scratch disk, move it to 1st place. Problem reappears. It appears I must leave the boot disk as the primary scratch disk. All my disks are OK, repaired & permissions verified by Disk Util.Even if I just clear prefs, verify releaunch is OK, and change this one preference, I get the prob.
FWIW here are the last few lines from the Console log:
I have recently bought an SSD (sandisk 120GB) which i have installed windows on. i have another 500gb internal drive which is empty and am wondering whether i should install photoshop on the 500gb drive and put the scratch disk on the SSD or the other way round.
how an SSD differs from a regular hard drive, there is no drop in performance when your stratch disk is assigned to the same SSD containing your Photoshop app.. I heard this setup is much faster than the conventional setup of having your app and scratch disk on separate hard drives.
I have just built my new rig (Asus p9x79 pro, 32GB 1600Mhz DDR3, Intel 3820, old GTX285 1GB, Win7 pro.....many hard drives ) as I am working on a very big project producing 440x240cm200ppi digital drawings to be installed as lightbox artworks at the same size.
My old system just could not cope with the demands I was putting on it as It only had 12gb RAM. I have two scratch disks set up x1 30gb SSD (dedicated) and x1 240gb SSD ( has other stuff on it with 75gb free ). I am also using Photoshop CS5 Extended (updated) with RAM usage set to 80% (23976).
While I realise PS will still make use of the scratch disk despite the amount of RAM I was shocked to see the first drive (30gb) was almost full with 5gb space left when I loaded the PSB file with x9 layers. Looking at the meta data in Bridge it tells me the file size is 6.90GB with pixel dimensions of 34646x18898@200ppi. Windows reports that I am only using 20GB of my 32GB..
Shouldn't PS be using more RAM before going to the slower reads on a SSD? Windows Task Manager tells me I have 8150 RAM cached, 12310 RAM Available and 4215 RAM Free. If Photoshop is not using the 12GB would it be wise to make a 9GB RAM DISK for an addition boost...not even sure if that would work, but, I hate the feeling of having all that RAM and 1/3 not being used.
I had to uninstall PS CS6. How can I re-install it without the disk (I have my serial number and receipt). I can't see where to download it on the Adobe website unless I want to purchase a new copy. It is for a Macbook Pro.
Using RAM Disk to speed up performance in Paintshop Pro? I like what I've seen so far except the program seems very slow. I have 32GB of RAM and have created a RAM Disk. I can manually copy images to the RAM disk, then work on them, then save them to the hard disk when done. Is there a way to make this automatic. I've set my temporary files to the RAM - trust this does not mess things up for Paintshop as those files disappear when I shut off the computer - but ain't that the intent of "temp" files. I'm going to try to set the Cache to this RAM as well.
Tried going to preferences and enabling the Scratch to my RAM disk (R:) but would not let me do that.
I have bought a new HD Camcorder. I understand that I need Blu-ray disk in order to burn my movie to HD format.
I am using the VS Pro x3 program. Before the burning process, in the "Create Video File" step, I have (among the others) the Blu-ray template, the AVCHD template and the HDV template. Which one of them I have to choice?
In the DMF 7se the output format of Blu-ray disk is BD.
