how to print two separate A2 drawings side-by-side in A1 paper space on an HP plotter? I'm assuming that this would be handled by a third party print management software or something along these line. I'm looking for any solution to save on paper!
View 1 RepliesIf I import an Arcview shape file into Autocad Map, why can't i plot it out from Paper Space??? I can plot out shape file data in Model Space but not Paper Space. The data is mapped to a layer, and it can be viewed in "Print Preview" but nothing comes out when i plot from paper space.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI made an attempt at drawing out what I'm trying to say in MSPaint. At my office we use an HP Designjet 800ps to plot our drawings, most everyone uses AutoCAD 2010-2011 and I use AutoCAD LT 2010. All of our drawings are ANSI C size (17"x22") and we use paper rolls that are 24" wide x 150' long. For some reason our plotter always prints our drawings sideways causing us (read 'me, the assistant') to have to trim the excess off of every single print. Not only is this time consuming but it is a huge waste of paper! If I can get it to rotate we will get 19 MORE plots out of every roll of paper!!!
I was wondering if there is some way to change settings somewhere so that our drawings are printed the correct way, saving me lots of time and saving our company lots of paper? Is it normal to plot this way?
Is it possible to assign viewports in paper space to a separate layer?
Explanation: I have a paper space with one singular viewport. On the same paper space I added three other viewports that I scaled in but only need for one thing. Can I assign these viewports to a layer and apply them when I need them or do I have to make a seperate paper space for each task.
How do I set my paper space to print A3 am using autocad 2007 and have spend days trying to figure it out. How to I get a title block/template to fit A3.

Any plotter driver that works for this situation? Every one I have tried has generated a plt file, but the Kip would not convert it or open it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNormally I plot in paper space and everything works well. when I plot in paper space all the lines ae much, much lighter and almost invisible, whereas if I plot the same drawing in model space the plot comes out perfectly, though not in scale. I must have pushed a wrong button somewhere but wnat button is beyond me.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a layout with a border that is alligned very well in the layout view (see attachement 1) but the whole thing somehow moves to the left when I preview the plot (attachement 2). I thought the dashed lines were supposed to indicate my printer's plot area. Is there a way to fix this anomanly? I have tried to play with page setup options, application options, but nothing works.

Even if I create 3 new viewports and erase the old ones, still can only print preview one viewport and only one viewport will print.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn the process of releasing 2013 to the office. We have about 60 machines being loaded, varying from 64-bit Win 7, 32-bit Win 7 and 32-bit Win XP. I have gone through and created new PC3 files for our two KIP printers (3000 & 7000 series). I added one custom page size to each to create a PMP that goes along with them. These files have been placed onto a network folder for all users to access. This is where my confusion begins.
When other users go to utilize these files it is giving an error stating that "the plotter configuration cannot be found, driver cannot be found, device cannot be found, yada yada. The none has been substituted."
So we began to look at the PC3 files and see what the issues are. When the same file on the Server is copied down to a local machine it changes back to a KIP10 driver down from a KIP11 driver on the network. Make Sense?
In order to fix I began running the "Add-A-Plotter Wizard" on the local machine. Created a new PC3 wiih a different name and went back into the program. Now the PC3's that did not work before WORK.
In short, since the 2013 version has a new file format do we have to run the "Add-A-Plotter Wizard" on all local machines before the standard PC3 file will work effectively? Or does having 2011 version still on the machines have an effect on these files?

Have a dwg with two layouts sheets that print to pdf in paper space - one layout works just fine the other NOT.
Both include one view port and a few small details as pdf underlays(@ 150 kb each) in the PAPER space layout.
The problem sheet - ran a very slow plot preview but it did complete a full view of the layout, then when selected to do the plot it never completes the pdf.
I tried a pdf plot of the same area in MODEL space and it previews just fine and plots to a pdf just fine.
I'm using AC 2011LT on a PC Every time I print to PDF or printer a line appears which is not visible on the model or paper space. It is even not visible when I preview the print before printing (again from model or paper). And on different layouts the line moves and sometimes doubles.
I have done all the regular things - all layers on, all unfrozen, all visible, etc, I've purged, regened, made a save as file, gone to another persons computer but still the same problem.
I've run into a small problem while trying to export a drawing from paper space as a PDF. The drawing is of an electrical panel for a product. The panel is rather large, but the drawing includes some smaller details, such as a vendor logo on a component or a few extra lines on the border of a display screen. We have a large, multi page PDF file that uses A4 paper size that I need to insert this drawing into, so the export must be at this size. When exporting, I have CAD set to use monochrome and ignore the line weights, which solved my initial problem that the parts would show up as solid black splotches.
Now that the back story is over, here's the problem. When I export the pdf, everything looks great except these small details around the components. For some reason, the lines in the components will shift to one side or the other, causing breaks between features. Most of these breaks occur between an arc endpoint and a line endpoint. The export also excludes some smaller bits of geometry.
When printing a paper space viewport in Conceptual Visual Style mode, text objects are visible in the print preview but not in the printout on paper. Why are they not hidden in the preview if they are not going to be printed?

Is there a tutorial that goes in depth with this? just froze one file at work, lucked out and opened at home. Each cut list is an individual worksheet, which may be the problem.

I can log into another user's computer and open the file fine. But when i use my computer or a brand new computer fitting all Auto CAD specs, it locks up. When I plot I have to reset my settings to the PTE standards every time.
I now get CAD errors when CAD is not even open. Also VTPSUHM barely works. I generally have to restart my computer several times to get it to work.
Lisp that would permit Toggling from Paper Space into the same zoomed area within Model Space and vice versa.

I have noticed twice now from two different civil firms that some of the civil symbols (dynamic blocks) are having visibility issues in paper space. No the viewport layers are not turned off or frozen. No the views weren't placed using the sheet set manager. Yes the blocks are created on layer zero and yes the associated layer is not off or frozen. I don't believe these blocks are annotative blocks. They appear, as expected, perfectly clear in model space. I just toggel over to paper space and "poof" they've disappeared.

However I wan't to be able to capture the coordinate from the model space, through the viewport, and pass it onto the block in Paper Space. Is this possible?
Or is it a case of having to use a more LISP based approach?

I have a solid hatch that is in model space (actually in an xref in model space). When I use multileaders (in paper space) and point into the hatched area, that part of the multileader becomes hidden. As if it was a layering or object arrangement issue.
is there a way to COPY objects from model space to paper space? CHSPACE only "cuts" geometry. I need the same geometry stacked in both model space and paper space.

Second problem is that I've created wipeout in model space when i go to layout (paper space) ti looks just how i want it.
When I go to preview or plot it doesn't recognise any wipeouts?
I need to have users plot to DWF from paper space so they can retain their customized layers colors etc, on that specific paper space tab, as well as the view via viewport that they like most.
I then am mixing this with FDO data generated out of Model space. Unfortunately, when using the EXPORTLAYOUT command, the data is coped into Model space but seems to retain it's paper space coordinates. I had hoped this function would behave like CHSPACE and copy everything from paper to model space in the same scale.

ACAD 2010 text doesn't view the same in MSpace and PSpace! Model space is the acad default text: txt Paper Space it appears as it should as Romans. The drawings print as txt and not as it should Romans! When I change the text in model space to Romans, save the drawing, enter PSpace and the return to MSpace, it seems to 'reset' back to text!
This is specific to my workstation BTW, when I open the dwg file on a colleagues PC it opens Romans in both Model and Paper space.
I just started a new job and am struggling to set everything up the way my old company had AutoCad configured. My old company actually had people that were involved in writing the code for AutoCad on the payroll, so hopefully what I'm looking for isn't some intense computer programming issue.
In short, I am trying to be able to create a generic title block in model space, and reference that title block into paper space of a new drawing without having to create a new tab or anything first. A new paper space tab is automatically created upon attaching the new title block. My old company had its own custom menu bar with lots of custom commands, so the work flow would go something like this: "Old company name" in menu bar -> "Insert" -> "Title Blocks" -> "24x36 title block" (or whatever size we wanted to use obv). Once the desired title block size was selected, a new tab would be created in paper space with the title block as an xref, and a copy of the generic title block was saved to the main folder containing drawings of the project, and could be edited with the specific project info from there.
Is there a semi-easy way to do this, or is this a coding issue that a non-programmer such as myself might have some difficulty doing?
What is the command to take a paper space object and send it through the viewport into model space (without copy and paste)?
