In printing a top view of a stacked assembly. How can you set it up so the top part is opaque to the part underneath it.
Example: I have a cylinder actuator on actuator layer on top of that I have mounted a switch box on switch box layer. When I print I want to see the top of the switch box and only see the areas of the actuator that are not covered by the switch box.

I would like to be able to shade certain rooms on a floor plan but still be able to read the text underneath.
Just a pale pastel shade on say the bathroom would be grand.
In our drawing office we use Inventor in a mining materials handling environment. Our output is mainly structural drawings where we require a bill of materials as part of creating a drawing. Whenever I insert a BOM in the drawing environment I get this table which is labeled in a foreign language (it looks like an Eastern European language) and the format is not as per the standard Autodesk installation setup.
How do I either revert back to the standard setup or do a BOM setup from scratch?
We use IV 2013 Professional on Windows 7 64 bit.
We still do all of our AutoCAD drafting in 2-D.So we don't need the ViewCube.It gets in the way and won't let us select objects underneath the ViewCube.
It is easy to turn it off by going to User Interface.BUT, is there a way to turn it off as the default.The drawing I'm in right now has the ViewCube in half of the Viewports.
In my map book template 8.5 x 11 Elegant file when I inset it in a mapbook the adjacent arrows are underneath the block I have to go to the template right click go to draw order and pick send to front. I went to the template file went to block editor to make these same changes there and had no effect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat I'm aiming to do is make my blocks (the components in pink) opaque, so that the DIN rail (yellow) which the components are mounted on cannot be seen. Preferably without using the hatch tool because it gets a bit messy and makes the computer run slowly, unless there's a sneaky feature of it I'm not aware of.
What I've been doing so far is just trimming the DIN rail to the right length, but because I very often have to alter the position, add or remove components I have to replace the DIN rail each time.

I'm trying to draw a helical staircase with a bottom plate underneath the steps. Drawing it isn't a problem. I used a sweep with helical curve. Then I converted this part to a sheet metal. But then inventor doesn't want to unfold it. how I have to make a flat pattern from this one with the necessary bending lines?

I have an opportunity to make a good impression at a new job, but ive never had the initiative to learn how to write a lisp routine. at my work we make walk-in coolers and freezers. these coolers are modular with a standard wall piece measuring a certain length. these wall sections have to be numbered sequentially. is there any way to automate this? sometimes we get change order from the client and it means going back and manually changing multiple texts (sometimes in the hundreds), but i thought if there was a way these wall sections could be scheduled somehow that when a new wall panel is inserted in the beginning of the sequence it would update everything after it automatically.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThat opaque tool bar thing keeps disappearing. The one over on the right of the screen. Has the PAN command and a few other things. It just disappears at random. I'm sure there's a reason but I never notice any correlation as I'm busy when it happens.
I can switch to another drawing then switch back and it comes back. How do I easily turn it back on?

I inserted a scanned PDF xref and now I can't get it to plot in a viewport. Is there a way to make the inserted PDF opaque so that objects behind it don't show.
I have two PDFs slightly overlapped, and for some reason all of the areas that are transparent in the PDF print with grey outlines in a PDF, but not when sent to a hard copy printer.

How do you make things appear under a human skin? No X-ray effect, no cutting-the-skin-away-and-see-what's-underneath-it kind of thing, but just so that you see the skin formed around the thing which is underneath it. Not just like pregnancies, but that the skin in pretty tight around it, for instance with (broken) bones, big veins, some horror effect where a face appears on someone's back, etc. Also different 'deepness'es at different parts, yet still in 2D.
Obviously, the object I want to have appear underneath the skin comes from another layer as the picture of the person, the 'skin owner', who is the chosen (and probably very unlucky) one.
Is there a way to make the box, and thus the ext within the box block out anything behind it on the drawing. Making the boxed text opaque?
This would be real handy in a complicated drawing if the lines, etc. behind a text box on a multileader did not show through the text box.
I'd assumed it would be "Press Shortcut Key and tap mouse" or something like that... but it's not.
It seems the Command Key changes the mode of the selection tool, whilst partially, sometimes, enabling selecting underneath. But it's terribly inconsistent, and means that the selection mode is changed if I do manage to select the desired object. Is this how it works?
I need to place an image underneath skin and I was wondering how to do this effectively rather than just placing the image above the picture and blending the layers. The image is off a cartoon eye that will glow different colours and I am trying to blend it into an open palm. Kind of a mix between David Blaines eye tattoo, and the clocks from the film In Time

In addition to this, the opacity seems to be rather strange, sometimes changing the area above the new paint stroke to a completely new color while other times it is just as if it were at 100% opacity. Is this a certain setting so that the paint layers on normally?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason, when I try to create a transparent object with a low opacity material, the object underneath it seems blurred out as if the texture res of the inside object is very low. once I hide the transparent object it returns to normal.
Unfortunately it also looks like that when saving an image.
I tried playing around with the material and with the preferences of Mudbox but couldn't find a solution.
I have an image I am trying to edit in Photoshop Elements. It's a PDF file in which there is text, and images placed on top of the text. I need to lift up the images to see the text thats underneath.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat i do is use the direct selection tool and click an anchor and then click the eyedropper tool on that anchor point What is happening is the the outline color is being selected. So i found out Illustrator CS6 you have to hold shift while clicking the eyedropper. I tried that and still can't get the color of the underneath layer, the fill color stays white? Here is pic:
As you can see in the navigator window, the shade of red is that of the outline and not the apple underneath the outline. I tried shift+eyedropper and white is the only color that get's sampled.
1. Is there a "show quick mask" feature for showing masks?
I know Gimp has a "*Show quick mask*" feature which shows what you have(and haven't) selected by displaying a red overlay over your image,allowing you to add to or subtract from a selection by using the paintbrush, but I haven't found a similar feature for showing masks.
Photoshop has this feature (it's called 'reveal mask' I think) and it basically just shows a red overlay of your mask on your image so that,similar to the quick mask feature in Gimp, you can see where you have and haven't masked through.
(I don't own Photoshop so I'm not sure if the red overlay shows the opacity with which you've masked through or whether or not you can edit the mask when it's being shown as a red overlay.)
2. Is there a command for showing the layer underneath the current layer I'm working on?
This is another feature that I've seen Photoshop has that is useful for blending multiple exposures (and lots of things, really).
Basically it's just a keyboard shortcut for showing the layer underneath your current when you hold down a certain keyboard command (it's not something you toggle since it's meant for quickly viewing what's on the layer underneath your current one).
I know I can press space bar to show or hide the layer I'm currently working on, but I can't do that unless I focus into the layers dialogue first. It'd be nice if I could activate that functionality from anywhere,regardless of whether I'm focused on the layers dialogue.
Do either of these features exist in Gimp?
I would like to image a 3d printed material made of metal. It is a few millimeters wide and deep. It is composed of metal arms that connect to each other to form intersections. I want to measure the pore size of this material. Obviously, I have to tilt the sample and collect images taken from different perspectives and then combine them to form a 3-d image. Can photoshop do this? I know it can stitch images together but can it account for differences in sample tilt?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 8.1 on a Surface Pro 2. I've got up to date Wacom Feel drivers.
The issue is, when I've got the "Tip Feel" set to medium in the Wacom Pen Tablet settings in the Control Panel, I cannot get a fully opaque stroke. No matter how hard I press, it takes at least two strokes of the same color (I used full black in my picture) to get a fully opaque stroke.
In the image, I changed the settings in the Wacom Pen Tablet settings to softer, eventually getting to the softest. While in the softest setting, I could get the pen to produce a fully opaque stroke, but then I lose the full range of Shape Dynamics pressure sensitivity. I know I can just turn the opacity control off to get fully opaque strokes, but I'd prefer not to, as that'd be a fairly big interruption to my workflow.
I have some grapes where i have to draw circles upon. In these circles i have to enter some text. Note - here is an example, where you can see how the whole task is meant!?

I've a problem with Gimp that comes from the fact that, when resizing a layer it becomes opaque, as if it were the foreground.
And the problem is that i wish to resize it to square it with another layer (that i don't see when resizing).
Come across the problem whereby when all documents are closed down in Photoshop CS6 on Mac, there is still an opaque rectangle filling the screen and preventing the user from simply clicking through to the application underneath?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm creating a large poster. it consists of about 20 layers. Not doing anything fancy, just adding a new photo to each layer or some text. I want the bottom layer (background) to be 30% opaque. I know how to choose the layer and move the slider. My poster looks great as a .pdn file. However when I do a Save As .TIF, .PNG it reverts back to a solid photo of a soccer field instead of being more translucent.
Does this have something to do with blending mode?
I did this for CS6 but am at a loss for how to do it in CC.
I'm on a Mac and want my workspace to have a solid background instead of being able to see through it onto my desktop; similar to what you would see when first openning Illustrator on a Windows PC. Doing this also adds the minimize, close, etc. buttons to the header.
I made a document with two layers, one with lineart, and another below it with some background elements I tried to put a new layer over the two of them by clicking the Create New Layer button, and after placing an object in the layer, tried to set the layer to Multiply by clicking the sleection circle, then "Multiply" in the Transparency drop-down menu. Nothing happened.
I then tried to set the transparency of the objects themselves to Multiply by selecting them and changing their transparency. Nothing happened.
I am able to copy the lineart and background layer and paste them into a new document, and have subsequently created layers appear properly when I set them to Multiply, but I have been trying to figure out what I apparently "broke" so that the layers would not display correctly.
I want to create a top down view image of a pile of autumn leaves. Something like the attached image.
So how to have an isolated image of a single leaf, create a brush from it, set the brush dynamics to create a random scatter and size of leaves and paint this on a few separate layers to create the impression the leaves are on top of each other.
The problem is since the singe leaf is color and not a simple 100% black silhouette, the resulting brush is transparent. So this is no good for what I need.
Is there a way to create a brush (or some other technique) so I can simply move the mouse across the screen and it will paste full color / 100% opaque copies of the isolated leaf with brush dynamics to create random sized / angled copies of the leaf?
Or is the only way to achieve what I need going to involve making manual copies of the leaf which would take a long time?
