when I start up AutoCAD I gat an error message:"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.Invalid URI: THe format of the URI could not be determined."
I click continue and AutoCAD runs fine. Is there something that I can or shold do to prevent the error message?
I am evaluating volumes of concrete removed from a surface and the volumes of concrete poured to replace the demolished concrete.I have created surfaces for each stage of the process in individual drawings.
I have created a drawing for the section views and successfully created cross-sections showing all the surfaces. When I compute materials, determining cut material between 2 of the surfaces, the end area is not always determined at every station.
I have previously noticed end area "shapes" with breaks in them. Each time, this was because there was a void in the surface triangulation. Is there any way that I can interrogate a surface to check whether the triangulation is incomplete, with voids in it?
I posted last week and included the attached screen print showing incomplete triangulation which I only noticed by turning on the "Shades of Gray" visual style. There must be some way to check surfaces without having to use the memory gobbling visual style.
I am trying to draw an alignment for a road. I want the alignment to represent the outside of the curve as the road climbs up and around a mound. Is there not way to do this in Civil 3D?

and now I am thinking I will have to do this manually, extract contours, and trim/extend my way to victory...I really would like to have this in a dynamic situation so I can make adjustments. Also, it would be adventageous to have the line actually follow the grade so I dont have to add curves in etc later...
I bought Video Studio X5 about 6 months ago,Installed it, tried the feature I was interested (Video capture) and it failed. As I really didn't have the time to look deeper into that, I just put it on the side for later. I knew I would need it at a later timeNow, I need it.Of course, it didn't repair itself and failed again (When I launch vid capture it give me the now classic "prepare record failed #15" message and will not record).
Checked the website, there is one update, a service Pack 1. It fails to install "The version of the installation could not be determined"
I am trying to find out how the drafting pattern origin is determined in Revit 2013. A model pattern is very easy to adjust, but this is not true of a drafting patterns. How the drafting patterns even determine what their origin is. Is it centered on a project extents - therefore changing as the model expands, or is it set by a 0,0,0 origin similar to AutoCAD (but hidden). In an event it does not seem that this origin is adjustable (unless someone out there knows some Revit magic) so perhaps it does not matter, but I would like to know.
how is the import scale for a raster image determined?
I've different scanned sketches of floor plans drawn by hand to specific scales, the resize tool is not quite accurate enough for my use. Does the view scale have anything to do with it?
In most vector based programs I am used to using a function which allows you to paste a copied item to a specific location determined by a point-click. I find this endlessly more useful than pasting to the centre of the screen, or even paste in place, as both are rarely anywhere near where I would like an object to be. I find the function of point-click paste does away with endless dragging of objects across the screen.
What is the best export/import format for sending 3D files. I need some neutral format files, possibly Solidworks but I am not sure. Also any export settings to make sure I get decent quality files.
Nothing like getting a surface model when you want solid model.

We have a computer that using AutoCAD Architecture 2013 and Acrobat 9 Standard. When printing a large sheet (30"x42") with images in it to a PDF the images do not appear in the newly created PDF. However, if the same file is printed to fit an 11x17 the images display correctly. Any thoughts as to why the large sheet size is not printing properly?
I am working on a 3' x 10' banner with 300dpi in Photoshop and it takes all of my time to do the extra tools to do, and it takes 10 minutes to save it or more. I have powerbook and CS6 on me. I put the highest memory in Photoshop preference. So I am bearing to work with it for hours for one small assignment, but why does it takes so long? is there a better way to do to save time and speed to make the poster banner to look greater than life? even in 200 dpi?
My Boss wants me to plot a map of the US on our company plotter. I know how to do this, except I do not have a file of a map.The one that is in the "Samples" folder does not open, and shows a message of invalid file. I downloaded a file and it does the same thing.
I am using version 2006 (and content with it) on Windows XP (also content with it).
I'm trying to "transform" an autocad drawing into an image format file, but I only can get the image that is in the main window, never the whole drawing. How to get the whole drawing and convert it to an image format file.
I am trying to get from dwg to wmf format in 2011 autocad architecture. There is no WMF extension to choose from.
My main goal is to give this to my marketing department.
When they convert from DWG to illustrator on my DWG detail which has color, the color goes crazy. The software is incompatible. (They have a MAC) What format works best??? We have tried EPS, JPEG, DXF
I have created a map using some DTED files and now I need to use it in 3ds max, so I must export it in .fbx format but I'm not able to do this, because Autocad says to me that I must convert the map in 3D object. What I have to do to export the map in .fbx format??
I want to implement the following Key SAN10L....I have tried many codes to accomplish this: SAN*L, SAN##L, SAN?L. The 10 in the code represents a number from 1-99. The "L" is alphabetic. I want to use the survey database to create linework. I have everything setup, but cant get the code to work to generate the linework.
Looking for a pdf to dwg converter that works very well. I am recreating some old drawings with Inventor that are currently in pdf format and would like to convert them to dwg's simply so I check the missing dimensions using AutoCAD. I've seen several converters out there and have tried one. However, the converter I tried resulted with the dwg being created with short polyline segments.
I've created the attached table (used as legend in drawing, to point out revisions).
Cells in second column from the left are set as data dd/MM/yyyy, so when I change revision I write current data and it give correct format.
The problem is that every time I change layout and come back (or every time I open the drawing), data in empty cells were set to 01/01/1970...but I want them empty.
Over the years I have had to occassionally save (export) an Inventor idw into an AutoCAD dwg file. Now, at IV version 2013, does it still not happen correctly. Why doesn't the process export the title block, border, notes, etc. into AutoCAD's paper space and export the model and dimensions into model space all in one step. It's either all paper space or all model space. Then I have to spend time to correct the AutoCAD drawing. Is there a better method to do this that results in a correct AutoCAD drawing in one export step? Maybe a third party software?
I have found some great LiDAR information but it is in a compressed LAS file so the extension is LAZ. How to decompress these files so they can be used. The point cloud will only accept the las format.
I'm using Autocad LT 2012 on Windows 7 Professional. I'm also using Microsoft Office Professional 2010. My question is how to change the colour of all cells in a table at once. For example, I copy a section of an Excel spreadsheet, then use "Paste Special", "Autocad LT entities", to paste it into AutoCad. I would like all the text to be coloured "by layer". If I select all the text and go to "properties", the text colour is set to "by block". I can change this to "by layer", but nothing changes. The only way I can seem to get it to change is by selecting the text in an individual cell, highlighting it, and then changing the colour in the text formatting toolbar. I have to then do this for each individual cell. Is there a way to change them all at once?
Yesterday, I sent a drawing that I scaled as 1/2" = 1'-0" in an Adobe PDF, and was told by the receiver that the drawing scale was off by 3-4% when they measured it. Hoping that is was the printer's problem, I sent a drawing from another file to FEDEX, and went and scaled that one myself. Sure enough, it's off. It doesn't matter whether it is windowed or brought in a paper space viewport.
How can I know that the AGS file is complied the AGS 3.1. or 4? I have a AGS file that it can't to be imported to Civil 3D 2014 - Geotechnical Modules. Is there any tool for doing clarification?
The error is "Pick list item 'FILL' under header GEOL_LEG does not exist in the ABBR table" ...etc...
