how is the import scale for a raster image determined?
I've different scanned sketches of floor plans drawn by hand to specific scales, the resize tool is not quite accurate enough for my use. Does the view scale have anything to do with it?
I have some issues with Raster Image lately when I wanted a scanned jpeg of 210 x 297 mm (a4 dimension) that I want to fit into a 180x220 mm rectangular box in Autocad. I have used Photoshop CS 3 to change the image size to 180x220.
However when I insert the Raster Image files, some files are automatically set to 180x220 (as expected) and others are scaled down and I have to re-scale them (reset the scale value to 1, change the x-value and the y-value is automatically changed, but on the overall it is 180x220, sometimes x is more than y or sometimes y is more than x, but within 1-3 mm)
I want to know :
1. What is the best principle or techniques of knowing/changing image dimension (mm)
2. How to be able to scale raster image in x-axis and y-axis independently of one another?
3. Remove white background to neutral background?
So we've been sent a DWG file for a large site, that includes a massive aerial (TIF) image.
At this point it's too large to even work with so I'd like to scale it down (proportionally, so it will still maintain the same aspect ratio).
For simplicity sake, lets say the image is 15,000 x 15,000 and I want to scale it down to 5,000 x 5,000.
The problem is that AutoCAD seems to use that pixel size to determine the actual scale, so when I updated the new (smaller) image, it was also 3x smaller in the world.
How do I scale down the image independently of the size so it will still maintain the same scale in the CAD world? (I'm a 3D guy so this is akin to scaling down a texture, yet having the plane its projected on maintain its original scale.)
I am using imported Raster images in Revit Architecture 2010 to trace and I need to make them unselectable. I know that I can 'Pin' them so I cannot move them, but I need to keep from actually selecting them. I thought I could use Design Options, but Raster images cannot be moved from the Main Model and thus remain selectable.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI do not see a way to control visiblilty of a raster image (jpeg) in a family (titleblock) that is in a project. I want the ability to turn off a stamp before plotting. R-2012. Raster images in model categories did not work. Adding a parameter in the titleblock family under 'Lock Proportions' did not work. (Other elements that use these same parameters to turn on/off visibilty were available there.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm redoing some old projects in Revit, and I'm using a background image to vastly facilitate the process as the projects are almost perfectly drawn, I'd like however, to use a background image as reference and keep the underlay (e.g.: show the bg image for level 2 and over it show the level 1 underlay) but I couldn't find a way to do that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find out how the drafting pattern origin is determined in Revit 2013. A model pattern is very easy to adjust, but this is not true of a drafting patterns. How the drafting patterns even determine what their origin is. Is it centered on a project extents - therefore changing as the model expands, or is it set by a 0,0,0 origin similar to AutoCAD (but hidden). In an event it does not seem that this origin is adjustable (unless someone out there knows some Revit magic) so perhaps it does not matter, but I would like to know.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a floor plan with a very long footprint in a "View" drawn at a convenient scale.
The long building had to be broken to be put on several different "Sheets", and each of the floor plans on each of the sheet has a scale.
When I change the scale of the partial plan on one "Sheet", all the other sheets also change to the same scale and also the original view changes to the new scale.
Is there a way to assign the desired scale of the plan on one sheet without affecting the scale on the other sheets and on the original drawing view?
I'm having issues with print quality on certain drawings, which is a shame as print quality generally exceeds that of AutoCAD Architecture.
The issue I have is with a SHADED and shadowed elevation drawing. When I go to print to PDF it insists line removal is done using raster rather than vector processing. This leads to a poor quality PDF both on screen and printed.
I accept that automatically generated shadows may make this necessary but with then turned off, I don't.
If I print a coloured plan, say a room or area drawing with automatically generated colours, it's quite happy to plot it using vector processing. I DO NOT see any difference between this and a shaded elevation without shadows! Any way of improving the look of raster processed output?
I use a raster image (JPG) on my title block for the Company Logo. This all worked fine in Revit 2009. Since I installed 2010 the logo no longer prints. I have tried other images and even converted it to a TIF.
It does not seem to be linked to any one printer. I have tried plotting on a HP Plotter, HP Laser Jet, Sharp Printer/ Copier, and even to a PDF. All have the same result. No Logo.
I created a wall detail in a scale of 3/4"=1' and when I change the scale to 3"=1' the hatching becomes smaller. I want the hatching to get larger without having to redraw it.

Similar messages appear when trying other commands located within the Raster Tools tab.
well i have a problem on solving an autoCAD homework . i have a pdf with the contours of the altitude of an area and i have to rasterize it as an image in AutoCAD 2006 (i put it on windows paint , then i save it as an img (jpg) ) and then i inserted it in AutoCAD. If I try to plot it as PDF, using "Adobe PDF" or "PDF-Creator" as printer, I see green areas in my PDF. Here the result:

For the creating of PDF files I can use the AutoCAD printer, that is no problem, but I have the same Problem if i try to plot a drawing with aerial images on a Plotter (HP 1050C) or any other printer in our office.
I'm having an issue where the more I zoom into a drawing that has a raster image (a 1mb jpg) in it, regenerating times become increasingly long until the whole program just freezes. When I zoom back out, it's fine.
I've tried changing the file type, saving it with a different program, lowering the quality to Draft, zooming in on an area that the raster image wasn't in, lowering the DPI of the image, nothing works. I've spent the last two hours searching Google for a fix, found nothing. The only thing that seems to work is if I put the image on a layer and freeze it. The problem there is, I'm tracing over the image, so it being invisible makes it rather difficult to work with.
I'm still learning some of the basics in the AutoCAD Map features. Most of my work has been using a map that is connected to data. My raster image is connected to a Sid file which covers more area than I usually need to work with.
What is the best way to work with a small area at a time? I cannot seem to imageclip the connected raster image.
How would I copy a gradient from another image. I mean I have a logo I need to extend, the background in the image is a gradient. Now i cant get the gradient for the extended background to match this one. The logo is already a flat image, I dont have the layered PSD.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small raster image (png) xrefed to an Autocad 2012 dwg. The image is on its own layer and the transparency of the layer is set to 60%.
When I select TPY the image displays correctly on the screen (i.e. semi-transparent). When I tick Plot transparency in the Plot dialog box and send the plot to our HP Designjet 800 the raster image prints exactly as I want (semi-transparent).
However when I use the Autodesk pdf writer (Dwg to pdf) the resulting pdf does not have the semi transparent appearance and the raster image appears in all its brilliant color even though it displays correctly (i.e. semi-transparent) in Print Preview. And, yes, I have ticked the Plot transparency box before seeing it to the pdf writer. Other autocad entities such as plines which are semi transparent are fine, its only the raster image that seems to lose its semi-transparent quality.
Is there anyway to bind a raster image to a drawing?
Everytime I bind/insert my title block the images dont bind in and also the file paths get deleted. Asked most of the drafters I know and everyone says it cant be done, which is what i think.
Normally I would use a CAD version of the Logos (for the client/architect,etc.) but sometime there isnt one available so have to use raster images.
Running AutoCAD 2004, XP Pro...I have inserted our company logo into the title block as a Raster image. The logo is png, and I have tried retaining the path and not retaining the path with the same result. After saving this as a template, I reopen as new sheet to start a drawing and the logo is now the path name.
