AutoCad :: Flatshot Location Not At Model Location
May 1, 2013
I've been working on a drawing that requires me to take .dwg files of 3D equipment and place them into my one drawing for general arrangement purposes. I used it once before but now I'm having a slight issue when I use the flatshot command. I seem to remember Flatshot making my new 2d block at the same coordinates as the existing model and that it would be at zero in the Zed axis (x,y,0). My block now appears and various locations, even when i specify coordinates or basepoint it can be off by a good amount. Is there an option that I'm forgetting or something, so I dont have to manaully move my block back to the desired coordinates?
This isn't a major problem since I can manually match the block back up with the coordinates my model is at and then move it to x,y,0 but I feel like theres a way to ensure I dont have to worry about doing that at all.
I have text in a base dwg next to a c3d s.s. structure table. Looks fine in base dwg. In the plan/profile this is x-ref in the text is on top of c3d table text. visretain is 1, text is not annotative.
I want to plot 100+ drawings to PDF's and was wondering if there is a way to change the base file location it saves, to a location I can choose? I am currently using the PDF to DWG.pc3 file in a plotting script. Is there also a way to get rid of the PDF viewer when the script is running?
i want to write a command in C# that allow user to do 2 things:
1. choose a layer to work on 2. make a list/table of all objects in that layer, and their X Y coordinates.
for example - if a DWG file contain few layers, one of them has names (and only names). there are ~1500 objacts (text type) in that layer. every objact have a string (100,101,...,1350,1351...) and locating (X and Y). I want to be able to pick this layer, then bild a text file like this: (name X Y)
100 20456 40789 101 20344 40348 102 21034 40456
its dont has to be sorted. how do I do it? any lift to progress?
Perhaps I have changed a setting inadvertently, although lately the following has been occurring when using the built in AutoCad DWG to PDF plot:
- if I plot a single sheet, I can choose the save location and it is all good
- if I go file publish and print multiple layouts at once (into the pdf), I am not given the option of where it can be saved, instead it is saved in the location the last pdf was (annoying when that is different job folders etc)
What do I need to change to fix it so I can always choose the save location?
When I go to plot to pdf in cad (using pdf complete) everything seems fine (preview, settings etc). Then when I click print no box pops up with the option to save the file in a location with the result that there is no resulting pdf file?!
I have looked on the web and asked around the office and no one seems to be able to figure this one out. I have also tried the command FILEDIA with no success. The computer has no problem printing to a printer and this problem seems only to exist using pdf complete.
I don't know what I did, but some how when I use the mouse wheel to zoom now, it only zooms in from the center of the screen, not where the mouse pointer is.
I'm in the process of moving 100+ dwg files physically, but cannot figure out how to update the drawing locations w/o recreating a Pre-Existing fully populated (names, drawing numbers, etc.) SheetSet. Here's what I want to do:
Move dwg files from one location to another & update the new physical location (Expected/Found/Relative/Full/UNC Path) in a copy of an existing dst.
I've tried moving the files, then updating the Expected Path from within the SSM, but this works on a file to file basis, and takes a long time to perform on a 100+ drawing SheetSet. I've tried using SSMPropEditor, but for some reason, the changes do not stick. The only way that I've found to accomplish this is to use the Archive function (as a folder instead of a ZIP file) from within SSM, but there has to be an easier way to do this...
Where the Hatch files are located. A user in my group is having trouble with his HATCH command. It doesn't seem to be working and it keeps telling him that the format files do not support his hatch or something like that.
Methods of which I chose acToolbarDockFloating all nice but because floating hasn’t been saved in a workspace (yet) means that the toolbar is placed in the top left corner. To cut a series of tests and playing round with lisp and scripts and the likes I'm after a way of simply forcing the new toolbar in the dead centre of the screen using VBA.
I have googeld and the likes but cant find anything that resembles like
ObjToolbr.Dock acToolbarDockFloating 200, 200
(Presuming the location of the toolbar I want to force is 200 by 200)
How to transfer a sub-assembly location to another sub-assembly location (Same orientation and location)?
I'm doing with equipments(Pressure vessels and heat exchanger). I would like make all nozzle location to be in 0 degree and 90 degrees angle if horizontal equipment and 90 degrees and 270 degrees angle if vertical equipment.
How can I know the XYZ axis on corresponding locations without having a reference to another nozzle?(If no nozzle in 0 degree and 90 degree angle of the equipment, so on and so forth).
Is there any way to obtain the X and Y location of an iFeature that is placed on a center point? I cannot find a way to relate the iFeature to the point or vice versa with VBA. Holes are easy to relate but I am stuck on relating iFeatures.
My goal is to obtain the X and Y location of several iFeatures placed a piece of steel channel.

In Civil 2013 is there a way to lock where you drag the tool bars? I work on dual screen and drag my properties and layers manager over to the second screen. Randomly they will jump back from the right screen to the left screen on program restart.
Also when I open the grading toolbar and drag it over to the right screen some commands, such as breaking a feature line, will cause it to jump back into the middle of the left screen right then.
Is there anyway to lock the toolbars to where they were dragged last?
I've set the start and end locations to be at the structure inner wall and applied rules but the invert elevation is still as if the pipe ended at the center of the structure. Did I miss something or does this not do what I think it does?
Where the CUI custom files are so I can use them to update a new install of Acad 2010? My computer crashed, and I had to reinstall from scratch, so I just need to get the customization files off the old hard drive and put them somewhere to use for the new install.

I have a standard install of Inventor 2012 SP2, but for some reason it cant seem to find the images for IBL effects. See attached Screen shot, when I go to select an item there is nothing there.
I have found the files in the "c:userspublicautodeskenviroments" folder but why Inventor cant see them?I have looked in "App options" in the "file" tab and in the project file and I cant see any pathing options that relate to the enviroments?
The default images for textures and bumpmaps are all found OK just not the IBL files? How I can set the path to these enviroment images?
My lead wants a group of all the tool palettes that i have created for all users to use.I have exported all of the palettes to a location on the network. I also exported the group to the same location. I had the user redirect the tool palette path in the Options>Files. The problem that i am running into is that when the users are loading up the tool palettes, they have to import each tool palette seperately then add them to a group.
Is it possible to have the tool palettes in a location on the network and have each of the users import the group only?
I have a xref with sample locations that I am working with and importing into multiple different files. My problem: I will make changes in the xref and then go to the drawing where the xref is attached. After reloading the xref, i see that in model space the changes are fine. These changes are just moving the location of an object. But when I go to paper space, it still shows the object where it initially was before I ever made a change.
