Whether it is possible to convert text into lines.
I need the text to be part of the surface for when being fabricated.
I am working with files in which I have to apply a layer that a subsequent program then will use for "HOTSPOTTING" on a web based purchase platform.
The files I am working with is .dwg files and .pdf But the objects I want to hotspot is not recognized as text. Is there a way where I can force illustrator to accept the marked area as text?
i was wondering if there is a way to convert multiple lines (non collinear) into polylines?
this to be able to add the "global width" property to the objects.
So, I am trying to output a solid 3D model of the attached drawing. I traced it and converted it into a dxf, from there I cleaned it up, but cannot pedit. I assume it has to do with the arcs. Cannot find anything on google, so I thought I would turn to you good folks.

How to convert a 3'-6" radius 4" OD single line 90 deg turn int a solid cylinder (90 deg elbow pipe fitting).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure out how to do this. I have a file with 41 drawings, and 7650 objects. and i want all the lines, arcs and circles to be turned into polylines. Now the Mpedit command doesnt really do it for me.
Command: MPEdit
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 4632 found, 10 groups
Select objects:
divide by zero
This is what happens when i write MPEdit, mark everything in my drawing and press enter. Now i also tried marking a line, using select similar, and fixing it that way. but i get the "divide by zero" error aswell.
I'm currently working with some vectorial cartoonish drawings, and while it's mostly quite easy, I'm having problems with disconnected lines. At the end of a disconnected line it needs to gradually get thinner and end in a small, rounded off point. It needs to to become thinner much slower than the normal rounded-off point, kind of a sharpenned edge effect.
So far the only method I could manage is making a shape instead of a line, but it's much harder to work whenever I want to change something, since I have to rework node by node. So I was wondering if there was a way to convert a line into a shape, so I can modify it all I want as a line, and then turn it into a shape and add the sharpened end.
I've placed about a dozen guide lines on a blank document but now need to actually "see" those guidelines in the actual print for cutting purposes. is there a way to "convert" them from invisible to visible?

The Word file is pristine with the Gimp images (saved as jpeg. Only the cartoon appears. When I upload it onto Kindle these vertical and sometimes horizontal black lines appear on the image's edge? What can be causing this and how do I remove them.
I've imported a logo to Corel Draw. The logo has several simple polylines. I'd like to convert them into artistic media in order to simulate calligraphic or hand made looking strokes. I pick the polyline, then I select Artistic Media from Effects menu. Then CD shows me the Default Strokes in a side docker window. I select any stroke.
The polyline changes, but I can't modify the stroke width spinner. Is there another method to convert lines to artistic media without redraw them over.
I converted a PDF-file (PDF/X-1a) into a Photoshop file using Photoshop CC and got fine lines over the picture.
Using Photoshop CS5, those lines will not appear.

This isn't something I am in need of because in the future with this graphic I would just convert the background. Just wondering why it made those odd lines coming off of the words and the black bar (I don't know how the heck you guys can post large things, things with motion, etc. I have to make things miniature to put them on here)
I assume it has something to do with how the original, that came from MillerCoors, has those layers of lines in it. I just don't get why lines would then be visible when I changed it since nothing like that has happened before. Oh, and if you are wondering why I converted it, it's because I knew my rip server wouldn't like all that stuff going on in the original
I scanned my signature into my computer as a TIFF file. I then edited and cleaned it up in Photoshop. Then I placed it into Illustrator and turned it into a Vector file. The problem with this though is that there are vector paths around the perimeter of the signature and not down the middle of the letter strokes as would be if I had made it in Illustrator. Is there a way that I can still make this happen?
I just converted it back to a tiff file becuas the vector lines were turning into double lines in places. I just enlarged them enough that it hid any gaps and then converted it into a tiff file to have another try at it. Would much rather work with one line though.
I work for a very large Electrical company in Toronto and we are having problems with one of our major clients (happens to be one of the biggest design construction companies in Toronto).
They designed the job with Microstation and the contractor and sub trades on site all use Autocad. However we have to edit all the original drawings from the designer with Autocad to do the as built drawings and then transfer them back into DGN for the submittals.
However despite all our efforts every time we transfer them in Autocad the text alignment is off. including the dimensions which for what ever reason show up upside down?
Now we are talking about thousands of drawings here so any easy way to convert files from dgn to dwg and have it work out perfectly.
In a drawing, i have several text strings, 's', that i would like to change to a known block... is this able to be done? there are over 3000 's' in the drawing, hoping to change them all to the same block. let me know if this can be done.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am doing some tooling drawings for my company. I am using AutoCad LT 2008. When I email my drawings, I have to convert them to Autocad 2004 so the tooling company can open the drawings. They then convert it to Mega Cad 4.8 to import it into their system. My problem is that any text in my drawings does not show up for them in either programs. I have tried several different fonts, but nothing works. This is causing time consuming problems for both of us.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I use the Trace option to convert, the result is an image filled with closed objects. Because I use vector images with a laser machine, and because the laser cuts everything it reads, the "double" lines (shared lines of the objects) get cut as many times as they appear. So I have to go in and break apart and delete segments & this goes on for days. I've tried welding, but welding makes one of the objects disappear completely. I've tried changing from cdr to svg, exporting & importing, hoping it would simplify, but that doesn't work either. Is there a way to have the bitmap converted to simple lines instead of overlapping objects?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI created a legend in the Block Editor which obviously requires text. I inputted the block into paper space because it's easier to input it into paper space for location purposes on the drawing.
Everything was fine, but when I went to plot it (by converting it from .dwg to .pdf), the pdf showed the text plotting vertically (down to up) instead of horizontally (left to right). I've checked the properties of the text, nothing is glaringly wrong, and since it only appears after being plotted to .pdf, I'm not really sure what the problem is.
Are there restrictions to adding blocks to paper space that I'm unaware of?
3rd party tool which didn't match our scaling needs the file is a fas so I have tried to reverse engineer the whole function using trial and error. The following code works perfect except we need multiple (x amount) lines of text I have at current the M txt function which mimics and is effective for today however we need all lines to be individual.

I am often using text within AutoCAD 2012. Here is what I do, look at the attachments:
1. Create the text using the mtext tool
2. Explode the text using the txtexp tool
But, when I explode the text, lines appear inside the text like in the image. I then have to explode the whole thing and delete these lines manually. Any tool or add-on to get around this annoyance every time I insert text.
I've tried what seems to be every version of EXPORT (as .ai and .eps) and EXPORT TO ILLUSTRATOR PATHS and then taking PS text and CONVERTING TO OUTLINE and then EXPORTING PATHS, but I just can't get the text from PS to Flash. I do have Illustrator CS if it needs to roundtrip there.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI wrote this little piece of code (attached) that explode all the blocks in the current drawing. This is magical, compared with what we had to do in VBA.
This works perfectly but now I want to go deeper and managed blockreferences with attributes.Based on my code, I can determine if oBTR.HasAttributeDefinitions is true or false.
If the blockreference has attributes, I suppose I will have to use Explode instead of ExplodeToOwnerSpace.
My first question is, using explode, I need before to know in which space the blockreference is inserted (Model or any layout) so to insert the exploded entities correctly. So, is it possible from a blockreference to get its own SpaceId?
An another idea I had is to edit the blockreference (not the block definition) to replace attributes with text...
I lost my dimension text on all my drawings when I converted with Windows 7. I did reload the 2010 software from scratch. I am thinking it is some type of .dll file issue or font issue.

I have been given the task of figuring out a way to have etching placed on our parts to show the part number of the part. The end goal is to get the parts laser cut but have the part number etched into the part.Is there a way to convert text (i.e. 12345) to a sketched symbol that the punch feature would recognize and then add it to the library? Right now we are using 2012 but will be upgraded to 2014 within the next 6 months.
