this to be able to add the "global width" property to the objects.

Jan 2, 2014As the above mentioned, I have a drawing drawn using polylines with width from someone. The width of the line are suppose to represent area,
To put things into prospective, here is an example:
The polyline is 10 unit long and with a width of 2 unit wide. If i explode that polyline, it will become a single polyline without width. The line are suppose to represent 10 unit long and 2 unit wide; representing an area.
My question is is there a way to change the line above directly from polyline with width to a close polyline (4 x polylines) of 10 unit long and 2 unit wide.

I have a dwg of contour information, the contours are 3d polylines, because they are contours the z value is constant all along the line, so there no question what the elevation of the polyline would need to be.
I need to do this as I then need to import the dwg into a GIS programme called MapInfo whch doesn't read 3d polylines.
I have access to AutoCAD 2004 or 2005LT.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Converting Arcs To Polylines?
May 10, 2012I have some polylines that mark the edge of roadway and around the curves there are arcs in the linework. How do I turn the polyline with arcs in it into a polyline with vertices, say, every .5' or so along the curve and turn the curve into a polyline? I tried the pedit and using decurve but it doesn't work well.

Sep 11, 2012I've been sent a series of CAD drawings in which the author has used global width to define the appearance of features. I need to import this into our GIS, which for reasons too complex to bother with won't import any attributes such as width. I don't want to lose the information recorded so was wondering if it's possible to create a closed polygon to represent the shape of the line. I guess something might be possible using buffering, but I can't figure out how to use the existing line width.

Dec 12, 2011I need to be able to convert "polylines" (as opposed to "2d polylines") to 3d polylines. Here is the issue: the polylines that I want to convert have object data attached to them and they are at the proper Z elevation. When I use the "Convert 2d to 3d polyline" function, the conversion does take place, but all of my object data is removed from the object. And since one of my attributes reflects the overall elevation of the object (which all of the verticies will be the same elevation - even though it will be a 3d polyline), there are too many objects to individually update the attribute information when I am pressed for time.I am working in Civil 3d 2010. Any way to do this using Civil 3d?

I know that I can take the 3d polylines and explode them to 3d lines. Then I can use map clean to delete the duplicate lines. Then I can create a C3D surface using the 3d lines. Then I can extract 3d faces from the surface.

Oct 18, 2011Joining lines into polylines in autocad 2007. Basically, I got stuck when joining several lines together using PEDIT and then Join. At the start, it was very smooth process with no drama. Then, I came across two polylines and wanted to join them together, it just did not work. It works most of the time. Why I can't join certain lines together or two polylines together. This is a 2D drawing CAD.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Exploding Feature Lines To 3D Polylines
Oct 30, 2013I have several featurelines that I wish to explode to be 3D Polylines (bad, I know, but it's a test for a way to get data across from our design group to our survey group).
Last week, in this drawing, I exploded a large selection of featurelines and they all became 3D polylines, preserving their elevation data. This week, I drew an additional set of featurelines in the same drawing. When I explode them once, they lose all elevation data, becoming lpolylines at z=0. Additionally, the Prospector shows me several errors: "breaklines not added to surface" or something similar. Which is an odd result for the explode command.
Why did this work once but not a second time?

AutoCad 2D :: Can't Get Polylines To Plot At Same Weight As Standard Lines

Despite numerous different efforts, I can't get my polylines to plot at the same weight as my standard lines.
I'm not sure whether my issue is specific to lineweight, thickness or global width..
I've tried the latter two via qselect for all polylines within my selection; this didn't work.
I've put all selected lines (std and poly) into one layer with a layer default lweight. This didn't work either.
My workaround was to xplode all polylines within the selection and then they all plotted as required.

Brilliant idea to draw raceways quickly: instead of making handmade double lines, connect, enter the hatches all by hand, you could quickly draw the polyline with width identical to the size of the duct, and then the lisp transform it into a duct more aesthetically pleasing if compared to the full polyline!

Oct 18, 2011I've been trying to figure out how to do this. I have a file with 41 drawings, and 7650 objects. and i want all the lines, arcs and circles to be turned into polylines. Now the Mpedit command doesnt really do it for me.
Command: MPEdit
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 4632 found, 10 groups
Select objects:
divide by zero
This is what happens when i write MPEdit, mark everything in my drawing and press enter. Now i also tried marking a line, using select similar, and fixing it that way. but i get the "divide by zero" error aswell.

Jan 19, 2012I'm currently working with some vectorial cartoonish drawings, and while it's mostly quite easy, I'm having problems with disconnected lines. At the end of a disconnected line it needs to gradually get thinner and end in a small, rounded off point. It needs to to become thinner much slower than the normal rounded-off point, kind of a sharpenned edge effect.
So far the only method I could manage is making a shape instead of a line, but it's much harder to work whenever I want to change something, since I have to rework node by node. So I was wondering if there was a way to convert a line into a shape, so I can modify it all I want as a line, and then turn it into a shape and add the sharpened end.

Oct 7, 2011I've imported a logo to Corel Draw. The logo has several simple polylines. I'd like to convert them into artistic media in order to simulate calligraphic or hand made looking strokes. I pick the polyline, then I select Artistic Media from Effects menu. Then CD shows me the Default Strokes in a side docker window. I select any stroke.
The polyline changes, but I can't modify the stroke width spinner. Is there another method to convert lines to artistic media without redraw them over.

Sep 5, 2013I converted a PDF-file (PDF/X-1a) into a Photoshop file using Photoshop CC and got fine lines over the picture.
Using Photoshop CS5, those lines will not appear.
