Photoshop :: Converting Guides To Lines
May 12, 2007
I've placed about a dozen guide lines on a blank document but now need to actually "see" those guidelines in the actual print for cutting purposes. is there a way to "convert" them from invisible to visible?

How do I add cut lines/guides to a CD inlay card? I'm doing artwork which will be sent to a printing company. They will cut the cards, and have asked for guide lines. Also, I've been told to have 'bleeding', ie my design needs to be 3mm larger so that when the printers cut the card there will be clean edges with no white. How do I achieve this?

I have a number of vertical and horizontal guides to be placed, at different points. Is there a better way of placement rather than zooming up on the ruler area, watching the Nav coordinates and dragging and dropping? I'm really looking for a method which will I can key in the actual placement coordinates in some way, and the guide will jump to this point?

What I mean:
Draw an ellipse. Skew it with mouse.
Draw a rectangle to allign with ellipse's outer dimension by Alignment Guides (not by Align and Distribute command).
Now the aligned side of the Rectangle must be tangent to the ellipse BUT it's not! To verify, try to search an intersection point. Draw a Guideline and snap it to the rectangle's aligned side. It must be intersection point between Guideline and Ellipse but there isn't...

Using Photoshop CS5, those lines will not appear.

I'm currently working with some vectorial cartoonish drawings, and while it's mostly quite easy, I'm having problems with disconnected lines. At the end of a disconnected line it needs to gradually get thinner and end in a small, rounded off point. It needs to to become thinner much slower than the normal rounded-off point, kind of a sharpenned edge effect.
So far the only method I could manage is making a shape instead of a line, but it's much harder to work whenever I want to change something, since I have to rework node by node. So I was wondering if there was a way to convert a line into a shape, so I can modify it all I want as a line, and then turn it into a shape and add the sharpened end.

i was wondering if there is a way to convert multiple lines (non collinear) into polylines?
this to be able to add the "global width" property to the objects.

So, I am trying to output a solid 3D model of the attached drawing. I traced it and converted it into a dxf, from there I cleaned it up, but cannot pedit. I assume it has to do with the arcs. Cannot find anything on google, so I thought I would turn to you good folks.

How to remove vertical lines appearing on a Word File with Gimp-cropped cartoons (saved as jpeg and attached to the Word file) when it is uploaded to Kindle?
The Word file is pristine with the Gimp images (saved as jpeg. Only the cartoon appears. When I upload it onto Kindle these vertical and sometimes horizontal black lines appear on the image's edge? What can be causing this and how do I remove them.

I've imported a logo to Corel Draw. The logo has several simple polylines. I'd like to convert them into artistic media in order to simulate calligraphic or hand made looking strokes. I pick the polyline, then I select Artistic Media from Effects menu. Then CD shows me the Default Strokes in a side docker window. I select any stroke.
The polyline changes, but I can't modify the stroke width spinner. Is there another method to convert lines to artistic media without redraw them over.

I am working with files in which I have to apply a layer that a subsequent program then will use for "HOTSPOTTING" on a web based purchase platform.
The files I am working with is .dwg files and .pdf But the objects I want to hotspot is not recognized as text. Is there a way where I can force illustrator to accept the marked area as text?

MGD 64 lemonade to forum.cdr
This isn't something I am in need of because in the future with this graphic I would just convert the background. Just wondering why it made those odd lines coming off of the words and the black bar (I don't know how the heck you guys can post large things, things with motion, etc. I have to make things miniature to put them on here)
I assume it has something to do with how the original, that came from MillerCoors, has those layers of lines in it. I just don't get why lines would then be visible when I changed it since nothing like that has happened before. Oh, and if you are wondering why I converted it, it's because I knew my rip server wouldn't like all that stuff going on in the original

I've been trying to figure out how to do this. I have a file with 41 drawings, and 7650 objects. and i want all the lines, arcs and circles to be turned into polylines. Now the Mpedit command doesnt really do it for me.
Command: MPEdit
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 4632 found, 10 groups
Select objects:
divide by zero
This is what happens when i write MPEdit, mark everything in my drawing and press enter. Now i also tried marking a line, using select similar, and fixing it that way. but i get the "divide by zero" error aswell.

I scanned my signature into my computer as a TIFF file. I then edited and cleaned it up in Photoshop. Then I placed it into Illustrator and turned it into a Vector file. The problem with this though is that there are vector paths around the perimeter of the signature and not down the middle of the letter strokes as would be if I had made it in Illustrator. Is there a way that I can still make this happen?
I just converted it back to a tiff file becuas the vector lines were turning into double lines in places. I just enlarged them enough that it hid any gaps and then converted it into a tiff file to have another try at it. Would much rather work with one line though.

Whenever I use the Trace option to convert, the result is an image filled with closed objects. Because I use vector images with a laser machine, and because the laser cuts everything it reads, the "double" lines (shared lines of the objects) get cut as many times as they appear. So I have to go in and break apart and delete segments & this goes on for days. I've tried welding, but welding makes one of the objects disappear completely. I've tried changing from cdr to svg, exporting & importing, hoping it would simplify, but that doesn't work either. Is there a way to have the bitmap converted to simple lines instead of overlapping objects?

Is there any way to paste guides, or, putting it another way, can I take an image, add guides, erase the image, keep the guides and paste in another image? Everytime I paste in another image I lose the guides. I want to know where I am in the second.

is there any way to create multiple guides in an image by giving the space in pixels or inches as I have to put hundreds of guides in some images and I dont want to do the standard drag and drop procedure of making guides because its more time consuming and also I have the exact pixels location where I need to put those guides in different images ( I dont want to record actions either because images are different),

i have recently switched to ps 7 and i find myself wanting to go back to my 5.5
what is wrong with the guides in there? when using the snap to guide, and i select something within the guides, the stupid selection sometimes falls short or too big by 1 pixel. this renders the whole purpose of the guides useless.
i also find that its much harder to set the guides to match up. i set them, sometimes even zoomed in at 200-300% and when i zoom in more 1600% i find the guide not quite where its supose to be.
i didnt have any of these problems with my previous version. i looked around in the options and couldnt figure anything to make it better.

The one with the glasses and lank hair, sitting at the back with no mates!
Now have CS3, and cant get the selection to snap!
When using the MARQUEE it positions the selection 2 pixels up and 1 pixel to the left of the guide (on the outside).
The guides will snap to the selection, however.
Sometimes when GUIDES are LOCKED the selection will snap to a guide, but not always.
Also, in the old days the curser would turn red when on a guide when lined up corrctly. This doesn't seem to happen now.
And in the mists of time do I remember correctly that there was a setting in which you could choose the snap distance?

I did a mockup in Photoshop for a design that needs to go to press in a couple of days. It's complete with guide marks...
Now, I realize that it needs to be slightly smaller than I originally laid it out to be.
I can free-transform it down to the right size... but, my guides don't come with it. They stay the same. Is there a way to get the guides to shrink along with everything else?
