View 1 RepliesWe would like to make the transparency of glass-materials visible in views and section-views by using the "realistic style". During a 3d-view our glass-material looks like transparent. Isn't it possible for REVIT to display the transparency of materials in views ?
The workaround to hide "glass" by using "overriding visibility" is not possible for us because some of our families and project families are using glass-materials inside (Showcases f.e.).

Is it possible to make a 3D drawing from 3 2D-views? I have 3 views, the left side view, top view and front view.
Drawing file is included to make it easier to see.
I am trying to make section views from the parent view. I need to make several section view, but there is not enough room on one sheet for all of them. Is there a way to move or copy the section views to different sheets and keep the connection for when chages are made all views will update?
Using AutoCAD 2013
I have a 2d drawing of the front view of a house. I would like to make it into a watercolor presentation using autocad. I have tried making polyline boundries and filling in different colors with solid hatch, but it is to opaque and covers up all the architectural details. Is there a way to change the color to transparent? Is there a "watercolor" hatch available. I have tried using a dot hatch pattern, but not quote what I'm looking for.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a second base view (using Layout/Create View/Base from model space). The problem is, I need it to be rotated from the original base view. However, when I rotate the part in model space, ALL of my views change.
So I guess my question is, how do I create multiple views of the same part that are seperate from the other base views?
i have views lets say 3 views on a sheet but in the list of views theres mores that appears maybe i inserted the extra views that are showing but i deleted them to put them on another sheet
the problem is they show up in the list of both sheet and i can't delete them from the list of the sheet that they were before
why i cannot change the color of the background when rendering? It is always black, and i cannot attached or make new material, if need to attach jpeg or new texture on my drawing, cannot create new material. what should i do? im currently using autocad for mac 2012.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince the end of Aug. 2012 I've been making families for a manufacturer. I left Friday evening with good families. This morning I am finding all the families I checked with a problem.
When I move the cursor across the various views it doubles the views. Rolling the mouse wheel one click either way to zoom in or out cleans the view but on the next time the cursor goes across the view it doubles it again. Now there are 4 views overlapping each other. The next time it is possibly 8, and so on. It is difficult to count them because they are overlapping but it looks like they are doubling each time.
The software is Revit Architecture 2011 and the computer is a Dell Precision T3500.Are the families corrupted or is it the computer? Is there a toggle I hit that I shouldn't have?
How could I get the idw views to name themselves? Instead of ” view 1”, “view2” why not have it name itself the file name, the same goes for a parts-list added to idw sheets? When slow clicking them to rename they already have the file name referencing the view or parts list. I have multiple views and multiple parts list on many sheets. Re-naming them is starting to get old!
I took a quick look at “ILOGIC” because that’s my “ILOGIC” speed and nothing jumped out at me.
I'm pretty new to AutoCAD,.Now I've managed to "design" a bridge and add textures etc.. Nothing as fancy as what most of you might be able to create but still learning.
Now, what i was looking to do, was print off 2D elevation and plan views of the bridge, but unfortunately the result is awful.
Is there a way to change the way the dimensions text shows up at arbitrary angles and make them all uniform?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am really struggling with this and I am not sure why. I simpy want to place a camera or create a view of a 3d drawing and plot a 2d elevation. I want to be able to clip the view to only show that object.
Example: 3d duct drawing, duct risers, I want to pick on riser and arnage it on a viewport. I can get a camera placed but each time it defaults to a perspective view and when I change it to non-perspective the camera disapears.
So I setup a view but no matter what i do I cannot get the clipping to work correctly.
tutorial on createing 2d views of 3d drawings.
I don't want to use sectionplan or a live section the duct program I am using doesn't create actual cad style solids so that won't work.
I really can't beleive I cannot just select two points to determine the view direction and the apply it to the viewport. I have to be missing something.
Is there a way of dimensioning the distance between the views on a .idw?
I have a series of drawings to make, that consist of two view each. I need to make them as consistant as possible, as far as the distance from view to view, accross the drawings.
So I am trying to create section views that detail the correct assembly of two parts.
These parts are welded on top of each other so its important to have clear understanding of how they fit together.
So imagine a pipe bent in the shape of a circle, in the horizontal plane, then holes drilled into the top (vertically) and then another pipe fitting in the holes and being welded together. This is what is happening.
So I am trying to create a section view of one of the holes with the welding information.
When I go to create the section view, I draw a line that would pass through the center of the large horizontal circle (but doesnt) and the center of the hole I am trying to detail and through to the outside of the horizontal pipe.
Now with this line I should get a view of the assembly exactly perpendicular to the line from that point. This is what is called "Aligned" in Inventor and what I was taught as a "Section View". However, this is not the case at all. I get what is called a projected section view.
find a way to get an "Aligned" view of this without sectioning the entire assembly. I just want the small bit necessary to show the relevant information.
I am trying to create section views to track beach erosion. I have created an alignment and sample lines successfully. The shorter sections look as they should. The longer sections are a mirror of themselves (ex: a section that should be 529' in length is drawn as 1058'). Is this a matter of needing to create a corridor and going the other processes that normally have to be done for a road or is there something else I am missing here?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working with civil 3d 2012,I'm trying to find a solution for the following problem,in Civil I have an alignment of 2kilometer and they want a section view every 5 meters,
automatically I can create over 500 section views, no problem there, but then I want to plot these 500 section views to a png file, and to do that I need to get all of them in separated layouts, for which there also is an automated function but its stops at 255 layouts,I've done 4 km in split up drawings..I've got 40km left no option splitting it up in 1 km sections.
Is there a way that once i have setup all my ucs & views, that i can easily export this information to another dwg without having to manually setup all of the different views again?
View 3 Replies View RelatedLet's say I have a flat pattern view of my part and the bended top view of the same part on the same drawing and I want both of the left side of each to be in line. (The right side shortends after the bends occur but the left side is not changed at all)
Work around:
1. Export to autocad and line them up with the osnaps, etc
I know how to sketch per view and project geometry but thats still on each view and when I try to line them up I am using my eye. Is there a better way to line both up even though their on different views?
I am currently deciding whether to invest money in buying Revit LT. I think that I need to do 3D views of interiors as my clients are being asked to provide them for presentation purposes. I would like to know if it is possible to produce decent 3D views in Architecture and render (even in a basic format) them too. If I can do this then I don't need to spend money on Revit LT or similar but maybe just some money on training.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to orbit and pan beneath a surface to see the relationship of pipes and structures to the surface. Its as though you were looking up at the ceiling in a room. Using orbit is limited because it flips the surface over (upside down), when trying to view the underside of a surface.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor those with some autodesk 360 experience - have you had any luck saving VIEWS with your models (either through AutoCAD or Inventor). Is there a particular way to do so (i.e. software you need to use, format you need to save, etc.)?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a model with many items, each needs to be plotted from several views. One option is to create a layout per view, which means a lot of layouts to manage.
Is there another way? Where I can create a layout with several views so that plotting it will create multiple pages?
I use Cad for Mac 2011. I am looking for a way for switching views quickly when drawing 3d. For the moment I use VIEW and then TOP, SE or whatever. It´s a bit slow. Also I couldn´t find out how the actual view is indicated.

On a semi-related note.. Does viewbase based sheet layouts make Autocad more unstable?
I'm hoping to be able to create 3D PDF to share with my clients. I want to be able to have them see 2D renderings and the 3D model at the same time with different views. Is this even possible?

I'm using Autocad 2004.
I have modeled object from top and from profile. How can I merge these two views into one 3d model? I tried sweep and extrude but that didn't give any results . These are the top and profile view.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using AutoCAD 2011 for several months, and I'm familiar with most properties such as layers, etc.
I have 2 separate issues, which I'll explain separately.
Issue 1. I have 6-7 named views (same drawing) that I use consistently. However, only 2 of them will cause them to show up. Example: I click View #3 from Views #4,#5,or #6. Nothing happens or changes.OR I can click View #1 or #2 (which will regen/show View #1 or #2), then quickly click View #3 during #1's regeneration, and View #3 regenerates clearly. What can I do to make the others show up independently (just one click required)?
Issue 2.In 2 views in the drawing mentioned above, a couple of blocks don't show up with the rest of the views. If I enter the Regen command, and then they'll show up. If I hadn't tried it the first time, I would have probably missed the blocks entirely and re-created them. What can I do to make them regenerate correctly the first time?
