Feb 29, 2012I have some objects in AutoCAD Architecture that I need to convert from polymesh to solid. How to do this? I also have Revit Architecture if I can do it in there..
The objects are 3D light fixtures on a 2D floorplan. Can I export the whole drawing as one to convert it?

I would like to turn these into 2D orthographic views, without the polymesh, is this possible.
File formats downloaded are .fbx .lwo .max .obj .xsi
the polymesh converter in autocad did not work.

Feb 2, 2014I have got 3D drawing with a lot of groups (block inserted on lines) created by lisp functions. If I use FLATTEN command to put everything to 2D, my groups are lost (everything is separated). Is there any way to put entire drawing to 2D without losing groups?

Aug 8, 2012I found out that if you have a dimension that is keyed you cannot use the custom property format in the fx. so how do I get ilogic to convert to fractions rounded to a 32nd.
When I put this (see below) in my code it changes my custom iproperty to a yes-no
fractionString = RoundToFraction(Dim_F, 1/32, RoundingMethod.Round)
Here is my code that drives my table in a drawing but the dimensions come as decimal and I need fractions.

I have a attached a screenshot to show what I mean. Face 1 needs to be merged with face 2. This is so if I constrain anything to that face it will constrain to the entire face and not either the circular face OR the flat face.

Also I can no longer Cover to Bitmap a photo then open with bitmap editor to create rectangles or ovals with clear faded edges. These are items I use all the time. How do I achieve this now. Also x6 will not save in x5 version. It will warn me of potencial problems then fail.

Nov 11, 2011I have created a model, by lofting a shape along a curved spline path. The model properties is currently '3d Solid' what I want to do is generate a 3d Face off of this model.
I have exploded the 3d model and that gives me a surface, bu the dilemma is that I do not know how to 'trace' or turn this surface into a 3d face format. What I was thinking is that if the surface could be exploded into individual elements I would be able to draw over the surface with the 3d face tools and then have my model, but a issue with this is that I cant explode the surface into elementary elements AND the 3dface tool cant generate curves.
In short how to turn a 3D model into a 3D Face or a Surface into a 3d Face?
The program I am exporting the model into accepts the following:
DXF Entity SAP2000 Objects
1 POINT Point
2 LINE Frame/NLink
3 3DFACE Area
4 3DPOLYLINE Solid
5 CIRCLE Line(s)
6 ARC Line(s)
Note: To be able to import the dxf entities as solids in SAP2000, you must draw them in AutoCAD as meshed polygons or meshed solids. I could also export the model as a solid but again do not know how to get a meshed polygon or meshed solid from my 3d solid, when I do mesh smooth, the model basically turns into a rectangle and looses its detail.
As you can see it is number 3 I am working on. I have managed to create simple 3d faces and get them into the program but the 3dface tool is very primitive and I cant see how I would create the curves that my model has, I cant seem to form a grid system either to use the 3dface - everything seems to draw in space.

I place the pickbox on the front side of the cube, press down Ctrl which highlights the front face, then while still pressing down Ctrl, I press space bar to make the highlight jump to the back face. But when I click it with the mouse, the front face gets selected!

Feb 28, 2013I am trying to CAD a model rocket I just made so I can test the aerodynamics of it. I have all of the individual parts made in inventor, but I am having trouble getting the fins on the rocket.
How can I constrain the fins (which have a flat face) to the outside of the cylindrical rocket tube? The photo shows the fin and the face (the narrow and long face) that I am trying to constrain to the tube.

Sep 19, 2013I'm trying to model plug welds in IV2014. I've read all the posts here that say that I need to split the hole faces. Problem is, the split face command doesn't seem to appear in weldments. I want to make the holes to be plugged as a weld preparation. Am I just missing something here, or is IV so backward that a common weld can only be achieved when not working with a weldment?
