AutoCad 3D :: Turning Off Visual Model Lines
Jan 31, 2014I've added the monochrome visual style to a solid part but the model lines can still be seen. I can't remember how to make the lines not visible.

wondering if its possible to turn off lines inside of nested blocks.
When we tried to do this inside a heavily layered and blocked drawing, it seemed to make the file unresopnsive, unloadable, and general "autocad freezing" issues. We Reconsitituted the entire file from the ground up and found that by NOT turning off these lines inside of nested blocks (ceteris parabis) the file works fine.
We like to turn these lines off becuase different teams are working on different parts of the drawing and we like to focus on one section by turning the other off. Is this possible? Is there a better way to do this?
I dont like to have Layouts Tab (Model, Layout1, Layout2,...) on bottom left side of AutoCad and I prefer to hide it.
Is there any system variable for that purpose? I just hide it via lisp only:
(vlax-put-property (vlax-get-property (vlax-get-property (vlax-get-acad-object) 'Preferences) 'Display) 'DisplayLayoutTabs 0)
Re: 2D circle jagged lines, 3D model hidden jagged lines. How do i get smooth lines?
How do i get rid of jagged lines?
Circles and diagonal lines look rubbish when i am in hidden view which i use for simple 3d black / white (i think this is the best way?).
I have tried:
- viewres (1000, 5000, 10000, 20000 sightly better)
- regen
See examples.

Is it possible to turn off the UCS icon in model space as well as in each layout? I'd like to set this up in the acaddoc.lsp files so that they're turned off in all opened drawings.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm busy making a map during which I've been working with creating a line around the shape of the island and then converting it to a editable mesh. On 55 lines it worked, then on 4 it didn't. Turning them into an editable mesh gave me nothing. I don't believe I did anything different with them, though I might have set 1 point or so differently.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWith all of you fine teachers, I have the know-how to get the start and end values of a line.
Do you think there is a way to get a point returned that represents the true intersection of the two lines, without having to involke a user defined "getpoint" function using "intersect" osnap?
I want to construct lines between every two line ending point by multi selectio window instead of drawing it manually between lines ending point ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy sister has some drawings that she want to scan and send to me. They use very thin pen ink. She then wants the pen strokes to be colorized and turned into water color strokes. As an experiment I tried using the "Artistic-Watercolor" filter on some thin lines and the results were lame.
All of the watercolor brushes I have seen online seem for comparatively wide stokes. Is there a filter or action that could turn very thin ink stokes into realistic looking watercolor strokes?
a while back i had this problem where pictures wher looking funny when blurred but never realy had an answer this is what i am talking about [URL}...

All lines in model space appear thicker when I zoom in.
how to change this behaviour so they show the same weight thin in the computer window?
I have a map which I devided to
3 layouts (scale 1:1 = 1)
+
1 layout where general map is shown (scale is 1:5 = 0.2)
On scale 1:1 I want line to be shown as dashed (same as in Model). But in scale 1:5 I want line to be shown as continuous.
how can I show dashed line as continuous in single layout. Which settings for layout must be changed?
I am using Autocad 2000. When I view a 3D object from, say, a top view, I would like lines that would normally be hidden to appear as a dashed lines rather than simply disappearing. Otherwise, it's not possible to use a 3D model to produce a standard shop drawing. Without hidden lines appearing properly (not as solid but as dashed!) there is too much detail that cannot be seen. I have tried playing with many different settings and variables to no avail.

I already tried MSLTSCALE = 1 in model space and PSLTSCALE = 1 and LTSCALE = 1 in paperspace.
it did not work.
I'm using AC 2011LT on a PC Every time I print to PDF or printer a line appears which is not visible on the model or paper space. It is even not visible when I preview the print before printing (again from model or paper). And on different layouts the line moves and sometimes doubles.
I have done all the regular things - all layers on, all unfrozen, all visible, etc, I've purged, regened, made a save as file, gone to another persons computer but still the same problem.
I am trying to do some minor animation with a shaded solid model. I have tried mslide and a script... this make s very jerky, flashing animation.
I tried a lisp routine to move the object in small increments, again the motion is very flashy and slow, as it appears to struggle perhaps with the shading.
I noticed doing a move command, and moving the same object manually, dragging the object around the screen with a mouse makes for pretty smooth motion. Way better than what I was doing.... Is there a way to do this programatically?
Is there a lisp for automatically draw a pline in model space of the projection of all existing paper space viewports, without need to select one by one? It will be also interesting if the lisp automatically create a specific layer like "ProjectViewport" to draw this plines. I am working with autocad 2009.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHere is the lisp I am attempting to use:
(defun c:ada ()(setvar "cmdecho" 0)(command "-layer" "t" "*" "on" "*" "s" "0" "f" "*" "t" "*ex_*" "t" "*all_*" "t" "rev*all*" "t" "*prop_*" "f" "*geo_*" "f" "*util_*" "t" "*grd_*" "t" "rev*grd*" "f" "*z_*" "f" "alt*" "f" "*grd_elev*" "")(command "_vplayer" "f" "*grd_elev*" "c" "t" "*grd_ada_*" "c" "" "") (setvar "cmdecho" 1))
The purpose is to show the proposed grading plan at a smaller scale so that we can give detailed grading plans to meet City Regulations per ADA codes. I understand that this can be accomplished by blocks and attributes, but when you have hundreds of spot elevations that can become cumbersome and less customizable than mtext. The large scale drawings can not have all of the spots shown or it would be too cluttered. But I want to be able to see all of my elevations when I am working in model space to ensure that all of my leaders and spots move together.
I have drawn a site plan in model space at 1to1 scale. I try to draw hidden lines to show demolition. In paper space the scale is set to 1"=50" to fit on paper. But all the hidden lines plot solid. I had changed LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE, to 1. This problem keeps happening in most every thing I draw.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAny code that will select all xrefs in modelspace and bind (insert) them?
the -xref bind command requires explicit names and if I use * it will also bind my titleblock xref in paperspace which I want to avoid.
I have code that will set and sae a current UCS to the front of an entity, of course, depending on the viewpoint. This is so, because we need all draft lines in front of 3D solids, such as dimensions, leaders for labels, text entities and so on (the reason for not putting these entities in paper space is another discussion ).
But I'll have on of two problems on numerous occasions:
1. The user forgets all together to run the command.
2. The user will pick the wrong entity that is in the foremost position in that view.
The code I have utilizes the following:
(setq ent (car (entsel)))
(vl-load-com)
(setq obj (vlax-ename->vla-object ent))
(vla-getboundingbox obj 'LowerCorner 'UpperCorner)
(setq LowerC (vlax-safearray->list LowerCorner))
(setq UpperC (vlax-safearray->list UpperCorner))
Then I'll analyze the X, Y and Z of both the lower and upper corners, and set my UCS to whatever is proper.
Is there a "LowerCorner" and an "UpperCorner" for all entities. I can't see "VSMIN" and VSMAX" working because the elevation of the returned coordinates is always "0,0"
Any routine for changing color of AutoCAD background in model space. As for changing background color we have to follow four steps namely as follows:-
1. Execute OP
2. Go to display tab
3. Go to color tab
4. Change color
A tool that directly calls the model color shall be highly beneficial.
Is there a way by which I can link a paper space block attribute to model space block attribute
In other words
Paper space as a block Title and attribute "QTY"
Model space has a block X and attribute "QTY_MODEL"
Is it possible to edit "QTY" and as a result get automatic update on "QTY_MODEL"

Is there a quick way to simultaneously delete all objects in a layer if these objects are found across several layout tabs and model space?
At the moment, I'm getting the objects using: (setq a (ssget "X" '((8 . "Revision"))))
This finds all objects in the drawing, but if I just use: (command "_.erase" a "")
to delete them, only the the objects in the current layout or space are getting deleted...
Is there a way to get model space to "display plot styles" through a lisp routine or a script?
i'm currently setting up a whole bunch of custom tool palettes for the company I work for and instead of the icons displaying in their actual colour (at the moment they're green, which doesn't show up very well on the light grey background), I'd rather they show in the plotstyle assigned to the individual dwg's.
call up the page setup manager (while in model space) and click modify, you can then check the radio button to "display plot styles" in the top-right corner. But when you have around 100 - 200 blocks to change, that process can be rather time consuming and cumbersome!
I have just started working with Architecture 2011, so perhaps there is some strange issue at work here, but I haven't come across it previous releases. Whenever I switch from model tab (in 2D wireframe) to a layout tab and then back to model space, the visual style automatically switches itself to "Wireframe" or "3D Parallel Project", instead staying 2D Wireframe. It is highly annoying as I have to hit the 2D Wireframe button on the Visual Style Menu everytime a switch. This also occurs everytime a hit the Save button. It won't stay put in the visual style that it should.
