I want to create 2 visual styles for buildings in autocad 2011, I have the main building then a proposed extension to it! I want to show the original building in say x ray visual style n extension in realistic?
I could do something in paperspace using polygonal viewports, but unsure how to do this?
I'm now using a different computer. I have a drawing with an existing surface and contours. I have two buildings on site that I'd like to mask the contours that run through them. I used the mask feature for one of them, but that is the limit. How can I mask the contours so they aren't running through the other building.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a drawing of a jobsite. The jobsite has multiple buildings surrounded by water wells. Each well has a unique ID, ie MW-7. In model space everything is drawn at a 1:1 scale. The jobsite is quite large, and in layout view my scale is set to 1"=100'. Everything looks visually pleasing, text size, block sizes (symbol for the well location, etc.). However, I need to create a new layout that zooms into a particular portion of the site. I need my scale to be roughly 1"=50'.
My question is this: How can I set my drawing so that when I zoom into the area of interest, the block symbols and the well IDs stay the same size and don't crowd up the entire page? Otherwise my well IDs are huge! I think it might have something to do with annotative scaling, but I can't get it to work properly. This drawing is being done in AutoCAD 2012
when i add a visual style to a shape or object it asks for, Command: Specify opposite corner:
i cannot move the viewcube and i cannot edit this object.
The problem seems very simple. My 'conceptual' or any other visual style viewports plot pixelated, while the legacy wireframe plots perfect. It pixelates everything, linework, edges, fonts. Of course I could just use wireframe, but then what is the point of visual styles I can't use?
In the same drawing with more than one viewport, the viewport with any visual style other than wireframe will mess up while the other one is fine. I have tried every printer, pdf printer, and all the dpi settings I can get ahold of.
When you have an annotative object set for a number of different scales, is there a way to turn off the shadow when you mouse over it showing a shadow view of the different scales?

I found a code to change the colors, but only affects the current dimensions in the drawing and the styles do not change.
How do I change the font styles of multiple mtext's.
Select all the boxes, type mo for properties, then change the style in the properties window. To make this simpler in the future I put all the text boxes in their own layer so I can use qselect to select them all quickly.
Is ther a way to purge all civil 3d styles in a macro or lsp. -purgestyles does not seems to work. I have not worked with lsp for a while just getting back into it again.
I have seen this used for purge (vla-purgeall File) and (vla-AuditInfo File T) for audit can we somethging like this with purgestyles or some how echo off the dialog that comes up. seemslike purgng styles should be just as simple a an audit or purge, but is seem more complex.
Attached LISP will toggle the 'Display Plot Styles' for all layout tabs or the current layout tab. In 2010 it would not affect model space.
With 2012, AutoCAD added 'Display Plot Styles' as an option on the model space tab. This routine now affects that tab.
How to make it not change this setting for the model space tab?

View 2 Replies View Relatedwe use Civil 3D as a design tool, and sometimes in the finished (plotted) product. We use STB (named) plot styles and layer settings to control object display.
I have a situation where I have received a drawing that is populated with Civil 3D styles already. However, in the Display tab, all the object Plot Styles are set to ByBlock. That does not seem to work properly with .STB plot style management, because the individual objects (contours, points, etc.) pick up the plot styles of their parent objects. So instead of a contour on layer V-TOPO-MAJR plotting with the layer settings of V-TOPO-MAJR, it follows the layer settings of C-TOPO, which is the layer containing the parent surface.
Is there a way to programmatically step through styles for surfaces, profile views, etc. and change the "ByBlock" setting to "ByLayer" in all styles?

Why revit has two hidden line styles. The first being the system line style "<hidden>" and the other "hidden". You would think you would be able to delete or modify "hidden" to reduce the number of line style a user can select from but you can't.

Everything is wireframe or simple black and white lines and I can see all my devices and equipment for the entire length of the building when I only want to see the devices in the room or where the camera is. It seems when I switch to hidden only my devices change no the linked arch model nor do any of my devices on the other side of the wall go away. I am sure for some the answer is simple but it is escaping me entirely. where I can better control the visual styles in my views of not just my own stuff but the other disciplines as well. Do I have to do anything to the linked files? Going through the Visibility Graphics Links tab doesnt seem to work either.

Or do I actually need to manually select each button and apply the new style?
I make a graphic style with more than one stroke. I choose the brush tool. I click the graphic style. I draw a line. only one of the strokes is applied to the path. I have to select the path again, and then click the graphic style for it to apply."New art has basic appearance" is unchecked.It's time consuming and frustrating. And it takes the punch out of one of the better additions to the program.

I have this issue where I have to merge lots of layers in order to finish the job. Thing is that two of them have layer styles added to them. Each one has two different layers styles added to it. If I try to merge the layers, the effect won't stay the same and only one layer style will apply (and not even this one works correctly).

Know I can change the auto leading percentage, but that's rudimentary.
For example, how can I add leading incrementally to this column without a lot of tedious selecting and style editing?
I see numerous redundant copies of every font family style listed when I select a font family STYLE of any typeface, such as Helvetica or Arial, for example.
Throughout the day the list increases copies of each style exponentially by the hour. At the end of the day I am scrolling through 98 copies of Helvetica Bold to get to the next style, like Black. There should only be one Helv. Bold, one Black, one Condensed, and so on.
My fonts are cleaned and organized frequently with any corrupted fonts being removed immediately. I use FontExplorer X, Font Doctor and other type apps to manage fonts because FontBook is still retarded.

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding how Adobe Illustrator (CS6) manages character styles imported from different ai documents. If I create all character styles in a single .ai document and only use them in in that document, everything works as expected--colors, fonts, and typography settings are maintained in the character style, and newly added text can be quickly styled with the character style.
My trouble starts when i want to re-use those character styles in a new .ai document. From the character style menu I use the option to import the character styles from another document, and they import correctly--all of the styles work and style text as expected. But then i save & close the document and re-open it to find that the character style entries are there, but the fills and strokes are all messed up--fonts, sizes, typography settings are maintained, but styles with a blue fill are suddenly filed with black, or some other color.
This happens even if the swatches associated with the character styles are imported to the new document as well. I've read that all character styles are based off of the 'normal' character style.
Have a lisp or other addon to make pline segments perpendicular after digitizing buildings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do update the styles library to keep from getting the Styles Conflict error box. I have used the Standard.dwg file that loaded with Inventor 2012 but everytime I change styles and save the changes in a new template in reverts back to the library definitions.
I used to be able to select 'NO' in the LIbrary option of the Projects Folder but that optiion no longer exists.
We've created a new parts list style for a border.When the border tempalt file is on the c: drive...everything works hunky dory...parts list, revision tables, etc.But as soon as we copy and paste that border into the template library folder for new drgs...the parts list style is missing from the local styles?
So to make it appear on the new document...the style manager has to be set at all styles and the new parts list style has to be saved to the document?What aren't we doing to make it appear on the template?
Also note that because the drawing border template is in a template folder as part of the design projects...it is NOT editable...so it has to be edited outside the template folder.
I have a problem when designing one building in 3d. The thing is i want to create a 3d model made only out of 3d solids. So there is this complex ceiling, I made out of 3 meshes and above it, in the above floor, there's a non complex plate.

This meshes are made based on the actual dimensions of different sides of the floor, are unique and are good approximation of the actual building's ceiling. So, I want to make 3d solid that would have the same bottom shape and the same - even top as in the picture if the space between the objects would be filled out.
I need to be able to do simple floor plans for commercial and residential buildings, what version of autocad do I need?
Will autocad 2013 LT be good enough?
