AutoCad 2D :: Update Existing Mleaders To Follow New UCS?

Oct 24, 2011

I have an old project where the mleaders were all created in WCS and aligned to it for a preliminary plan set. Now that the plan has progressed to CDs (over a year later) they have rotated the views to a new alignment for the final plans. I'd love to not have to re-do all my mleaders in the new UCS to match the new alignment. Any way to update existing mleaders to follow a new UCS?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Subassembly Composer - Update Existing Custom SAs

Nov 27, 2012

What's the easiest way to update an existing custom SA once it's in the drawing.

For example i have some coding that I'd like to change and this particular SA is in use 10 times in my file in different ways. I used the Subassembly Composer to create the original custom SA.

It's not as easy as saving the file over top of the existing .pkt file, if it was I wouldn't be here. It seems to be behaving like a block would. I need to redefine the Subassembly in order for it to update in the drawing. How is best to do this and is there any tricks to the process. When do i need to open and close Civil in order to apply the new changes.

Do I need to update the SA in my tool palette as well?

AutoCAD .NET :: How To Get All MLeaders Even In Blocks Nested Ones

Aug 13, 2013

I need to EnableFrameText to all MLeaders in a drawing, I also want to get the MLeaders who are nested in Blocks automatically...

I started this way but It just works fine with the Mleaders in Modelspace or if I open the Blockeditor to edit Mleaders nested in a Block...

I know I'm not going to "deep", maybe I need an other Transaction, or thirst open each Block to edit... not right sure...

my example:

//Ändert leider nur die MLeader die nicht in einem Block sind....
[CommandMethod("MLeaderIterator")]

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Calling Mleaders With Mtext

Oct 17, 2007

I'm finding Mleaders with Mtext don't seem to play well with command calls. All works fine until one tries to enter the mleader text. Before testing this, be sure your mleader style is set to use mtext. I recommend starting the leader with the arrow first.

Compare this mleader's text entry behavior in this basic lisp command call:(command "_.acad_dim.mleader") with the following routine that relies on an open ended command prompt (useful if you want to add more commands after calling the mleader command):

(defun c:mlx (/ cc_echo)
(prompt "
Example showing mleader mtext misbehaving")
(setq cc_echo (getvar "cmdecho"))
(setvar "cmdecho" 1)
(command "_.acad_dim.mleader")
[code]...

With qleaders, the leader and text are separate entities.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create All New Existing Surface Over Existing Ground

Sep 28, 2012

I'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.

It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Material Favorites Does Not Update When Update Materials

Dec 9, 2013

I made a change to my materials library.  I changed the color (from dark grey to light grey) of one material.  I then saved this back to my library.

Now, when I start a new part, I get a warning that the material does not match the library.  So, rather than using the material in the part, I opened the template and updated the material to match the library. (Manage >Update Styles).

This is where the problems come into play. In the update styles dialog, if I compare materials against my custom materials and then compare it to my Favorites, it just a continuious circle.  It is like the favorites are stored inside the part and do not get updated to match the custom materials library. (I thought the whole idea behind using a library was to get the information out of the parts).

Here is a short video showing what it does. [URL] .....

The only way I can get the favorites to match is to delete the favorite material, update the style and the add the favorite back in.  That is a bunch of work.  The problem I got with this is that there are thousands of parts that have been created that has this favorite in it.  The only way to update these is to open each part (if I knew which one), delete the favorite, update the materials and then add the favorite back in.

I see the same thing in 2013 and 2014.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Composite Surface Of Existing Surveyed Contours As TIN Pasted Into Existing Aerial Contours

Nov 15, 2012

Some background: We have a composite surface of existing surveyed contours as a TIN pasted into existing aerial contours that we received from a client.  We used polylines to generate our proposed contours, and then generated a proposed surface from that.  We've made a blank surface, pasted in the existing surface, and are trying to paste in our proposed surface...  only the existing contours outside of the proposed suface no longer line up correctly once we do.

We've tried applying the method laid out here: [URL] ........ (and the link referenced in the bottom) but are still having trouble getting the surface to work.  We've tried offsetting as little as 0.25' and as much as 5' with the feature line draped over the existing surface, but it seemed that the greater the offset, the greater the discrepancy.

Just to make sure we even tried that correctly - should the breaklines that we add be standard or non-destructive?  (I've tried it both ways with little success either way, so I don't know if it matters much in this instance, but perhaps for future reference it would work.)

I've attached a screen shot of our surfaces.  The pink and green lines are the proposed contours, the white dashed are the existing.  The outer red line is offset 0.25'.  As I've mentioned, we've tried offsetting various amounts with decreasing success.

AutoCad 2D :: How Can Hatch Follow Path

Mar 22, 2011

I was trying to draw the enlacements of a wire rope by applying the hatch command but when I facing curves, the hatch needs to rotate somehow. Is it that possible?

I manage to do it by using "measure" command and then with a use of a block, align it to path and then enter the segment length. (Attached image)

But I was wondering if there is a way to do it with hatch command or any other method.

The first pic is the profile I'm using and the second zoomed in to one of the arcs.

AutoCAD 2010 :: UCS Doesn't Seem To Follow Viewcube?

Oct 16, 2012

I just got a newer computer and loaded autocad2012.  If I use the viewcube to rotate to a front view and try to draw or dimension it only will draw on the "top" or XY coordinates while the screen is showing the xz.  If I use the view tool bar and switch to the front view I can draw at will on the "front" and the ucs is showing I am drawing on the xy.  How do I get the ucs to follow the view with the view cube like it does with the tool bar?

Now, I have checked the ucs settings ucsortho (1) ucsvp (1) ucsfollow (1)  What else am I missing?

If I change view with the viewcube, then type ucs v.  It will change the ucs to match the view.  Why isn't it doing it automatically?

AutoCad 2D :: How To Get Hatch To Follow The Drawn Line

Sep 12, 2011

I have existing drawings that I copy and manipulate into new ones. I have a drawing of a conveyor line that has some segments "highlighted" with a yellow hatch that appears to follow a single line. The conveyor layout has been changed. So I need to update the drawing for the new layout. I'm wondering how this was drawn. I cannot explode the hatch to copy parts of it. I'm thinking there was probably a simple way to get the hatch to follow the drawn line. Putting boundaries around the drawn line to hatch in would be rather time consuming. Is there a simple function I don't know about?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Bolted Connections Follow Pattern 2013

Nov 5, 2012

I have an assembly comprised of 2 identical parts that have holes in a radial pattern.  The holes were created at the part level, & the holes are obviously in both parts (they are not created by the bolted connection).

I've made a bolted connection using the "By hole" option & I've checked "Follow pattern."  The bolted connection is made without any problems, & the "Follow pattern" populates all the holes as would normally be expected.

However, here's the problem:  the only bolt/nut/washer assembly that appears to be fully constrained is the one on the base hole (by "base hole" I mean the hole that I initially selected).  The other bolts/nuts/washers are not constrained to the holes.  So, I can drag the entire pattern & it spins radially about the axis of the base hole.

I've never seen this ridiculous behavior before IV 2013.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Fails To Follow All Assembly Updates At IDW Of Mid To Big Files

May 19, 2013

I use IDW file as “fine” checker of my assemblies design. Sometimes it is much easier to see general picture in variety of spots and set dimensions to check the designed assembly using IDW file.

Working within mid to big assemblies Inventor mostly fails to follow the opened assembly IDW file with actual assembly. When switch from assembly to IDW Inventor may indicate the update sign at IDW but finally did not update all changes. After the “Update” sign has been used there is no any chance to force Inventor to make one more update. I mean there is no any manual update tool or way to force one more update. The only one way is to close the IDW and open it again. It quite time consuming process.

The second problem opened IDW file is automatically updates somewhere in background and in most cases makes troubles of changing parameters in assembly or subassemblies since it somehow can catch up changes first when it opened but not active. User cannot prolong working without either updating IDW or closing it. Either way it takes too much time.

some ways to manually force IDW update and to postpone IDW files from automatically update in background?
