Having drawn this spacer for the tutorial I am following, I decided to add the dimensions. The dimension shown here is 200mm but you wouldn't know that.

How do I set the dimensions so I can see the arrowheads and read the text?
I am trying to dimension a drawing and I get some strange results

How do I control:
1. the size of the arrowheads;
2. the size of the text;
3. how the dimensioning lines contact the object being dimensioned;
4. etc.
How do you add feature control frames, datums etc to hole notes and dimensions with leaders? Seems to work fine with linear dimensions by dropping them in, but for the life of me I can't make it work with anything that uses a leader. Either the arrow on the contgrol frame shows up, which I don't want, or it places the control frame right on top of the dimension.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOut of the blue, my Layer Control will not work. When I click on the icon, the top two lines on the screen go gray and the whole thing locks up. The layer palette does not appear. If I try to choose anything on the screen, it beeps. It unlocks if I hit escape. If I type in "layer" at the command line, the same thing happens. At this point, I am unable to change lineweights & colors within my layers settings.

How do I go about turning off the View, Viewport, and Visual style controls that appear in the upper left hand corner of my modelspace tab? And while I'm at it...how do I manage to get the ribbons suppressed as a default?
Apparently, Autodesk feels so strongly that everyone should be working off their ribbon menus that they turn them on every time the drawing editor is started. We don't, nor are we likely to, use ribbons.
How to set up a dynamic block so I can control the size of an object through parametric dimensions that are linked (somehow) to a lookup table, spreadsheet, list, etc.?
What I'm trying to do (simplified) is place a block of a rectangle, select a size from a dropdown list, and have the block change to be that size - but I don't want to do this through visibility states as there are hundreds of sizes. The whole point is to be able to construct a list, lookup table, excel sheet, etc and link it to parametric dimensions in the block, or at least be able to link a stretch action to parametric dimensions. But the block editor will not allow me to associate a stretch action with a parametric dimension (at least I haven't figured out how to do this.)
In ACA2008, can the display of each of the four edges of a cell in a table be controlled individually? I want left and right edges of cells to display, and top and bottom edges to not display. In the Cell Border Properties dialog box, I can set the Lineweight, Linetype, and Color of each edge, but I don't see how to set the visibility of each edge.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to display my dimension units in inches but I am having difficulty displaying the (") symbol after the number. e.g. 24" instead of 24 in.
I have my units set to in. and if I check the "unit string" box under Display it only shows (in) after the dimension number. I am using inventor 2013
I'm trying to figure out two things that have changed:
1) Lets say i create a polyline, lets say its 15 inches long. I used to be able to click on it and have the length show up in my properties. it no longer does that.
2) Lets say i create a polyline, it's green and has a dot pattern. I decided i wanted to change it to yellow and hidden pattern. I can no longer select the line and change it under the properties, it will change it in properties, but not on my screen. then when i draw a new line it will be yellow and hidden. I end up having to matchprop to make it work.
How to display the annotations properly. Perhaps this may just be a display or view setting but I beleive I have checked them all at least 3 times =).
Even in the video he explains all the things explained here but does not explain exactly how to make the dims and ext lines notate and display properly, in model or paper view (view port). I have tried many ways to create a view port in paper space and annotation several dimensions. I constantly get different text sizes and ext line scaled differently within the same view port.....even after I have locked it.
I am also confused about notating dims in the model space within the paper space view port vs on the paper space outside of the model space view port? Perhaps this has something to do with my issues?
Again it may be because I don't understand another function/setting impacting this well enough yet?? I have tried/used every variable in the Dimension Style Manager on the Lines, Text and Fit tabs to no avail.
We have walls constructed out of modular panels, represented by basic rectangles. Rectangles are a standard 16" wide. (length not important) Only when a rectangle is not 16" wide, would we need to show it's width with a dimension.
In multiple blocks I am creating, I need a stretchable rectangle, in which there will be a dimension.
However I do not want the dimension to show up when the rectangle is 16" wide. But I DO want the dimension to show when the rectangle is not 16".
So... When the rectangle is 16" wide, no dimension is displayed. When the rectangle is NOT 16" wide, a dimension is displayed.

I have had a request to display imperial dimensions using a unit string "in." (no quotes). The default Inventor 2011 display does not include the period. Can the default be modified, or a new option added to the list?

As because i have to look for the property bar again and again for the dimensions since my eyes are soring as it appears in very less size. If it appears the inside the object with appealing big size, then it could be easier for the user to note the size instantly despite of observing the property bar.
Using AutoCAD 2013 and TOL command to generate feature control frames. We set our lineweights based on layer assignments.
Problem is that when printing, AutoCAD seems to randomly assign a lineweight to the feature control frames. It can vary from what it's supposed to be (such as lineweight set for the dimension layer) or thicker than even what the object lines are set at. Seems to pick a random linewieght at time of printing for these elements (just the boxes, not the symbols/text itself).
Is there a setting we should be defining somewhere to force it to follow the lineweight of the layer that it has been assigned to? Known bug?
I was adding a lot of aligned dimensions to a drawing and some where along the way they changed from aligned dimensions to rotated dimensions, even in the same string of dimensions.

I created holes in the model as a 1/4" tapped hole
Yet when I show the dimensions in the drawing they show the minor dimension.
How do I get the 1/4" to show? I have selected the feature and still get these results.
Is there any way I can make exploded dimensions in an old drawing become live dimensions again.

Also be sure to pick the 'aligned dimension' method and not the 'linear dimension'. I hope that works in Revit as it does in AutoCAD.

I have Photoshop along with the iOS simulator that shows how the iPad or iPhone will look if they can be used in some way but I mainly need to get menu items and dialogue boxes from various applications in OS X and Windows looking good on Retina screens. I really don't want to pay out for a Retina display purely for this task that would only take a few hours of work at most.
Sometimes this happens. At other times nothing will display at all. I have also had a portion of the picture duplicated multiple times on the stage.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNew to this video editing game, just have a question regarding 4.3 and 16.9. i have a Canon XM2 which has a setting in the menu for 16.9 wide screen format. When this is selected on the camera the view finder shows a distored image (squshed). I have also found a setting that when 16.9 is turned off you can display 2 horizontal lines on the display. my question is am i better off shooting footage with the 16.9 turned off on the camera and then using Videostudio pro x4 to create the 16.9 format(if this can be done).

I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."
