i have 3 different cad files for lights, drains and trees and they are all located as points.
There are hundreds of these points and they all look the same, obviously I want to differentiate lights from trees so is there a way to convert these points into unique blocks?
I have a project in 3D that I would like to export to Stadd. This requires lines rather than blocks. Is is possible to convert the blocks in the attached dwg file to to lines that are centered on those blocks?
If you have a drawing open and the Tool Palette Architectural open click on the door. It has "tick marks" where you can stretch the doors opening to (24", 32"). I want to know how to add those "tick marks" to my blocks .
In my application, users will insert predefined blocks which have simple shapes like rectangle, square or circle.
Users will connect some polyline or lines to the blocks inserted. My task is that blocks must have snap points only on their center so that the polylines must be connected to the block center point not to other points such that midpoints, end points of the edges.
I wonder if there is a way to override snap points of the blocks while other entities' snap points do not change.
We are in the middle of upgrading from LDD2008 to Civil3D2013. This is a 2 part question. Since there are NO point labels similar to Poiint labels in LDD2008. It is making cleaning the elevations up very teadious. With point labels that are just Mtext. I would rotate 1 label and then match properties to rotate the rest and then jiust more the elevations to make them readable.
How do you all deal with cleaning up the elevations? Is there a way to match proprties as far as the rotatiion of the points? or do you Create blocks from Cogo points?
So, I starting playing with the Creating Blocks from Cogo Points. This creates a block with attributes similar to the way Softdesk treated points back in the day. I ran into a couple of issues. 1 being, it rounds the elevation to 3 decimals places.
When it creates blocks from the Cogo Points some of the blocks are giving me 0.000 elevations for points that had actual elevations.

I've been able to successfully place R/W markers in my cross sections (as well as FO, TEL, GAS, Beam Guard). Where to find an Existing R/W marker ' EX R/W'?
Our Surveyor created the Point Styles and description keys for processing our field work. These were incorporated in our template. Yesterday he brought in field work an noticed that only a few of the symbols incorporated into the markers came in.
The blocks exist in the drawing but when you go to edit the point marker only 8 out of 152 blocks show in the window below "Use AutoCAD BLOCK symbol for marker". I tried a backup of that template from 5 months ago and got the same results. I've verified that the blocks still exist in the drawing both by listing them and exploring them in Design Center. If I try other templates the window shows all the blocks.
I have tried Audit and Recover with no improvement. Thirteen errors fixed but the blocks still don't show. Additionally I found a backup of the template from Feb., 2013 and get the same problem but the lack of blocks only just occurred.
This is an example showing the depleted block list:
I have these pickets, and I'm trying convert to points (such as in this video [URL], but then I'm finishing every points have z coordinate "0". I think because Z coordinate is in attribute, but not in block, but don't know how fix it.
i have an elevation point layer that i'm using in a project and i needed to import it to arcgis for some interpolation.
Problem is, all altimetric points are "B"s instead of being points, and arcgis doesn't recognize them as points. Is there a way of quickly converting them all of them into points?
Take into consideration that we're talking about hundreds, maybe thousands of said "B"s.
I'm pretty sure I can replace my cogo point marker with a 3d tree that I can see in the object viewer using the realistic style and print out. Problem is where is that 3d block of the trees?
I have Points in Civil 3D that are in the Washington State South Zone NAD 83 Coordinate System and would like to get these points converted to Washington State North Zone NAD 83 Coordinate System. I am able to convert drawings entities to the new coordinate system using MAPEXPLORER but the points do not go with it.
I have a block that contains attributes. When I select the block, you can see all the nodes/insert points from the attributes within the text. I was wondering if there is anyway to have the block only show the insertion point of the block and not the attributes? The attached image shows what I am talking about.
Is there a way to change the default attributes "POINT, ELEV, DESC" to a different setup/style? (E.G., the point label style from the point which the block originated from?).

I had inserted a Land Desktop drawing containing points in to a C3D 2012 drawing. There was a small difference in coordinates. I used Autocad move and rotate to adjust. This was fine because I only needed a visual reference. Now someone wants the information and I need to convert the Aecc points to Civil cogo points.
The problem is that the convertldtpoints command doesn't use the location of the point marker as the coordinates for the converted points. It uses the Northing-Easting stored in the AECC_Point object. Those are the pre-adjustment coordinates.

I need to convert all polylines on layer to blocks. Each polyline gets replaced with a block that is near the approximate center of polyline. it can also be at the first or last node of pline. or just near the center. (polylines are rectangular).
I am currently setting up some new blocks for a handrail and balustrade system. Our supplier has handed me 100's of 3D drawings of components, I now need to convert these to 2D blocks to be used within drawings.
I´m trying to write a script to convert all the blocks in a drawing to mass elements and export them to IGES thereafter.
I would like to select everything first. Then launch refedit and select all the blocks.
After that I would like to convert them to mass elements. When saving to IGES I would need to select everything again.
I pieced the following script together, but it fails. I think it is bexause of the request to select objects manually. Could I add a delay which would enable me to select an object?
Also it looks like ACADA is not accepting the "all" command when pselect is called by a script.
--- PICKFIRST 1 select All efedit OK

I have successfully created a dynamic block. I can insert it into AutoCAD, and it behaves like I want, except for one thing.
I can select the block and change it by taking a grippoint and place it at another position. So my block is e.q. stretched, just like I wanted.
But then. When I want to use the ordinary STRETCH command of AutoCAD, I can only stretch the insertion point of the block, but not the grippoints. Is there a way to set a grippoint to be select edable by commands like STRETCH.
In VBA, how can I batch convert field attributes in blocks to text attributes while retaining the blocks? Is there a simple way to univerally convert them all at onceusing VBA? The plotted values for the fields must be retained, too.
Explode will not retain the value of the field.
Burst will not work as it explodes the blocks as well.
You can right-click on the field and slelct "Convert to text" from the RCM. So I know that the process exists within CAD, just need to batch the process for a quantity of DWGs at a time - in VBA.
Having a lot of issues manipulating points on paths in Illustrator CC - this is a fundamental feature of creating vector graphics and it's very annoying I'm paying for this and it's just not working. Eating up a lot of my time simply because I can't select or convert or add the anchor.
I had to create a boundary map and place points to all corners. How to export these newly created points back into my data collector (Ranger) and also I'm trying to figure out how to print out a points list.
I stumbled on to this thread but I guessing that it's a different CAD year because my modify tab doesn't look like this. URL.....
there is a way to convert land desktop aecc points to cogo points and use the full description?
I do not have access to the ldt files nor to the Descriprion keys file. It would be nice if there was an option to preserve full descriptions when converting (that would be just too simple).
