I am currently having a problem which (looks like) i have a background mask that will not delete even tho there isn't any text there. i cant select this or delete it.

That's a print screen of one of the areas that's effected.
Try plotting to a PC3 format with Line Merged option on under the properties for the plotter. Note how the contours continue through the text.
Try plotting with Lines Overwrite. Note how the contours don't go through text.
Any users out there saying they cannot use the "Lines Overwrite" option and need something else so they can still use the Lines Merged option and have their contour text looking good. How to get this in a SP or HF soon. Otherwise it may be deferred to 2010 and so on and so forth.
I have been using background masking in Mtext to cover up the mechanical piping in our drawings. It works fine in AutoCAD, but we convert the drawing to pdf and then send the pdf to the printer to make prints. Now
the background masking is not working. You get a line going through the text.

I have about 100 images similar to the example below where the background is a neutral grey, darker at the edges then becoming lighter as it reaches the image subject. I'm looking for a way to lighten the grey background without have to mask the item in the center.

I want to delete the background around the logo and between the letters and the border around the letters so that when it is posted or placed on a page the background of that page will be seen through the logo and around it instead of the white box. I am talking about background removal. I have thoroughly searched Internet for articles on this topic. I found many ways to remove an object from its original background. All those methods work just great. But, there is one think I never was able to accomplish. I was never able to delete background from within such part of the photo like hairs fluffing in the wind, or hairs ruffled by the wind.
I can easily separate an object with clear edges from its background. But how can effectively remove background from behind hairs on this photos?
I am working on this book cover in Illustrator, and I am having problems deleting the background of this one image (in ps). I use the magic wand, but it doesn't look smooth me.
I have this image of some rings on a white background I got from stockx or one of those sites. These rings need to sit on an image (which is a large monogram M). I am trying to make the background transparent, and my attempts....well, they are ok for the average eye, but for something going to print, it just is not good enough. I am still learning illustrator, so I am trying to delete this background using photoshop. I used the magic wand to delete the majority, and then tried to use the eraser to clean up. Still looks like garbage to me.
I became so frustrated I thought about about a diff approach from deleting the background. I would just create the "M" in one layer, dupl the layer, crop it, etc etc. Only prob is when I try, transferring back to Illustrator makes the image jagged. And trying to crop in Illustrator? Well that is like calculus to me.

In ps i can have the background as a specific layer. Then select the areas of the jersey then invert and delete the remaining portion of the background from the background layer. I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO IT IN AI cs6. I have to do this in AI because there are certain images and backgrounds i need to image trace to blow up to size of jersey. Deleted background. All worked well. Problem is, saving as a jpg will not include a white background, which I DO not want.

Basically I am attempting to call out something on architectural plans and create a listing on a table. The mask needs to be transparent, kinda fading the rest of the plans out, leaving my little callout box.
The ways I can think of doing this involve a little trickery. I think if you bring the PDF (2) times create a clip then create the opposite clip then turn the fade up on the outer one should work.
I created a fire extinguiser block containing a mask style. We have multiple wall styles and want to put this block in the walls and have it hide the hatching within the walls. Do I need to use AEC Masking? Why isn't it masking the hatching? Using Architecture 2014.

I am having a problem with a blueprint for a house. the plan was sent to me dwg. We use pdf factory to print the plans. This leaves a black spot where ever the dwg has mask on the dimensions. Which happens to be throughout the plan and it will only let me take it off one text box at a time. There is way too many dimensions in the plan for this to be practical. how to remove this mask from all? I am using autocad lt and pdf factory to print.

address the background masking of mtext, mleaders and dimensions. To be independent of lines merge/overwrite would make simple everyday life much better.
We are still having to use wipeouts instead of this "new feature".
All firm drawings are printed using lines merge.
I have to show paint coverage/masking areas on certain parts, and to obtain the look I am after, I thought about using the split command and changing the face colors as necessary to show this. I have never used this command before, and was wondering what the pro's and con's are to using it, and also if this is even the best way to go about this?

I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

Until yesterday I was able to delete pictures, using the contextual menu or the delete key. I got the message asking me if I wanted to delete them from disk or from the catalog.
But now, that popup message doesn't appear. The picture is not removed, just nothing happens.

I checked the logs and this is the error message:

I uninstalled LR moving it to the trash. Then I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist and I also removed the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
I rebbooted the machine and installed it again. But the issue is still there, with the same error message.

I verified the disk and checked file permissions.
I also tried to use another catalog from a backup.

Nothing, same error.

One anusual thing that I did before the error was to install the "HDRsoft Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom - Version 1.0"
I removed it but the error was still there. After the re-install I didnd't install that plug-in again so if it was the problem, it shouldn't be after the clean installation that I did again.

OK I just wanted to see what other people out there, do to make a GOOD mask I have friends they just use levels, other just curves. so on and so forth.... Any real good way of making a good selection? Such as hair in the wind?
Oh and I posted another thread ( ACE and photoshop BUG ) or some thing like that. Did I post that in the righ place or should I have posted some where ells?
