AutoCAD .NET :: Ribbon Load At Startup?

Dec 8, 2012

I have been using the ribbon api to create my custom ribbon.  I am now attempting to load said rribbon at startup by placing the load command into the initialize componant.  It isn't working.

 Dim ribCntrl As Autodesk.Windows.RibbonControl = Autodesk.Windows.ComponentManager.Ribbon
        If ComponentManager.Ribbon Is Nothing Then
            Return
        End If
        For i As Integer = 0 To ribCntrl.Tabs.Count - 1

[code]...

I seem to remember being told it's because the ribbon .dll hasn't yet started at this point sso it has nothing to use to load it?

AutoCad :: Startup Error / Cannot Load Resource Only DLL - ADT 2005 / XP Pro

Jul 8, 2005

I've been running ADT 2005 successfully on windows XP Pro for a year, but suddenly after running the backup program in windows XP, I effectively cannot startup and run AutoCAD for all the "Resource Manager Errors".

Checking the Autodesk knowledge base, the problem is recognized, but the solution does not appear to be available to me. Here is what Autodesk has to say:

Startup error: Cannot load resource only dll
Published date: 2004-10-21
ID: TS100289
Applies to:
Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005
Issue

When you attempt to launch a session of Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005, the following error message is displayed:

Cannot load resource only dll

Solution: This error message typically occurs on systems running a backup software, such as Backup Software Verita 9.1. This software runs a remote agent that causes a conflict with the loading of ARX and DLL files associated with Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005. In these instances, disabling the remote agent will restore the ability to launch and utilize Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2005.

*[back to me] - I've searched for the aformentioned "remote agent" on my system, but to no avail. Meanwhile, I cannot run ADT as it asks for missing files at startup and at every command.

3ds Max :: Ribbon Crash On Startup - Unknown Property?

Feb 22, 2012

The company I work for has just switched to Max2012 but my machine has a problem with it. I get this error on startup and whenever I open and close the ribbon:

-- Unknown property: "validobjfunc" in #StructolyBoost(undefined:<data>;Public)

It throws open the max script editor window and a message prompt saying the above text. If I press OK, the message goes away. When I close the editor the message comes back and we have a loop!

To get around it I can press OK. Then run script and go to max root > stdplugs > stdscripts > PolyTools.ms

I looked around and saw people had this error on previous versions of max and the fix was to place a copy of polytools.ms in the startup folder. I tried this and polytools.ms crashes instead on startup. To me from the error given it looks like the ribbon isn't loading a script somewhere that it should do. Placing it in the startup folder makes sense as a temporary fix but in this case it doesn't work. I can run the script after every time max has loaded but this is inconvenient and means I can't do any batch operations which I do quite often.

My PC specs are Win XP x64 SP2, Xeon W3550, 12gb ram, quaddro 3800 and dual screen monitors, I also use a Wacom tablet.

The problem happens in both x64 and x86 installations of 3ds max. We have reinstalled 3ds max countless times. My colleagues have identical computers, hardware wise, haven't had the same issues. We're using SP2 patched 3ds max 2012 too.

AutoCAD 2010 :: When Trying To Get Ribbon To Load / Error

Oct 10, 2012

I work at a place where we use autocad, everywhere... And I'm in IT and i've been struggling with this for a day now. I got 2009/2011 to work, but when i try to get 2010 to work, it just doesnt want to cooperate. Now when i used to start it up a proxy graphics thing would pop up, and i figured out how to turn that off, but then no ribbon loads.

So i go to the command line and type in ribbon, and i get an error:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in a component, in your application. if you continue, the app will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and here are the details..See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Customize Ribbon Panel In Ribbon Tab

Nov 28, 2012

I am trying to customize Autocad 2012 ribbon tab. I can't seem to find how to mimic the small arrow that appears in several of the standard menus. For example, in the 3D Solids - Home Tab, the second panel from the left is "3D Solids Home - Mesh" It has a small arrow in the corner that opens up a preferences dialogue box.

How can I add that arrow to a custom panel with that little arrow so that I can add my command to it?

AutoCAD .NET :: Where Are Bits Of Ribbon API To Add Slide Out To Ribbon Panel

Jan 24, 2013

Where are the bits of the Ribbon API to add a slide out to a ribbon panel?

Autodesk.Windows.RibbonControl ribbonControl = Autodesk.Windows.ComponentManager.Ribbon; RibbonTab Tab = new RibbonTab(); ribbonControl.Tabs.Add(Tab); // create Ribbon panels Autodesk.Windows.RibbonPanelSource panel1Panel = new RibbonPanelSource(); panel1Panel.Title = "Panel1"; RibbonPanel Panel1 = new RibbonPanel(); Panel1.Source = panel1Panel; Tab.Panels.Add(Panel1);

I saw some source that hinted you could use panel1Panel.AddSlideout() but in the search I do not see any Ribbon API that allows for any slideout functionality?Do you *have* to use the CUI API for this?

AutoCAD 2010 :: X64 Locking Up Upon Startup

Feb 24, 2012

I had been using AutoCAD 2012 x64 w/SP1 for quite a few months with no issues. A week or two ago I went to open a drawing and the program locked up. I tried opening AutoCAD via the desktop shortcut and directly from acad.exe and it locks up immediately. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 2012, but the issue persisted. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any service packs. I normally don't use Windows Update and hadn't downloaded any updates prior to these issues, but I did it to see if it would fix the issue and it did not. I uninstalled 2012 and installed AutoCAD 2011 x64 only to have the same exact issue. I have an old version, AutoCAD 2002 that works fine, but my job always receives drawings not saved in 2000, and my convert tool sometimes fails to convert them to a version I can open. A friend of mine pointed me to this thread here: URL.... I am using Windows 7 x64 on a somewhat up to date PC that I built myself.

Could it be due to the fact that I am running a 64 bit System?

AutoCAD LT :: Blue Screen Of Death At Startup

Jun 15, 2012

One of my end users reports to me that his computer has been crashing. We soon learn that it crashes every time he starts AutoCad LT 2006.

What I have done so far is completely removed autocad and all associated programs. Reinistalled, installed a newer version (Autocad LT 2007), upgraded to the latest bios and firmware on the machine. Replaced the RAM, and just about everything else under the sun and this machine still crashes every time you start auto cad. I asked the user when the last time was that it worked and he said he was using it about a month ago just fine.

I installed the program on my identical laptop and it works just fine.

I ran the BSOD via Kernel mode through WinDBG and it points to ACPI.SYS. Being that this is a heavy system driver file, need getting this program to actually work short of me reinstalling the entire OS on the machine? The stop error is the 0x00000050 memory error.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Toolpalettes Disappear On Startup?

Oct 25, 2011

I though maybe this was a 2010 issue, but here I am in a brand new 2012 setup and experiencing the same problem. For some reason, my toolpalettes disappear on startup and sometimes when switching between projects. I have my workspace saved with  the following anchored to the left side of the screen: Properties, External References, Layer manager, Project Navigator

Design Center, and Toolpalettes. When I close Acad (or it closes itself) and restart, sometimes the tool palettes are there and sometimes not. All of the other palettes are there save that one. They also have a habit of reordering themselves if you pin one open and the minimize it it drops to the bottom of the page. Very annoying when you think your PN is at the top, and it isn't, but i digress.

I am working with Windows 7, 64bit, dual screens. This happens with equal frequency in both 10 and 12. (Working in 12 to develop rollout for office and working out kinks. No I do not run them both at the same time.)

One more clue, I noticed in the command history that TOOLPALETTES loads and is followed imediatly by _ToolPalettes.

AutoCAD .NET :: Stopping Palette Being Restored On Startup

May 22, 2012

Is there anyway to stop AutoCAD executing the command used to create a palette upon AutoCAD startup?

I know constructing the palette without a GUID prevents this behaviour but I'd like keep this to preserve the palette size, position, state etc given when a GUID is provided.

I had hoped I could just close / make not visible  the palette just before AutoCAD exits and it wouldn't try and restore the palette upon the next AutoCAD started. I've tried doing this in the Application.BeginQuit event but the command is still called the next time AutoCAD is started.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Opening Drawings From Startup

Feb 24, 2012

I have been given a new lap top plus the updated AutoCAD rev. 2012.Supposedly it is superior to my old laptop but... it runs slower, the mouse action is awful, it's like stirring cold porridge.

Anyway, I have spent the first week battling with various bits, trying to get it to look & feel like my previous laptop using 2010.

The big issue I have is upon start up.  Rather than loading the standard AutoCAD "drawing 1" regardless, I want to have the browser open up so I can select the' previous drawings loaded on my last session or select a new drawing or browse folders to find the drawing I want.

how I managed to switch this on, back when I managed it on 2010 version.I have given up on running up & down the menus.
