What are the steps I should do if I want to use Object Data, the Display Manager, and digitize RUS Imperial? How do I use the Display Manager so that symbols are reasonably visible at Zoom Extents? (FYI: Trying overhead design in AUD. Symbols are different in model-based design compared to regular AutoCAD.)
I'm wondering if there's a way in AutoCAD Map 3d 2010 to bring in a points shape file and display it along a pipeline but not have the symbols overlap...I see where it automatically has conflict detection for the labeled features I bring in, but somehow want to have control over how the symbols are display on the alignment sheet. Is there a way to stairstep or offset two symbols that overlap or land on top of each other. I have several datasets like metal loss and growth rate I need to show but can't get the data not to overlap...I could do a larger scale but would just end up with tons of sheets.
I have an alignment for a proposed steel gas pipeline that is several thousand feet long. The alignment is stationed and set to display PI symbols (triangle) at each change of direction. However, steel pipe is relatively flexible so small changes in direction (a few degrees) are irrelevant and I do not want the PI symbols to display in those areas. Is there a setting (a tolerance so-to-speak) in Civil 3D to edit when PI symbols are displayed for an alignment. For example, I want to set it such that PI symbols are not displayed unless the alignment changes direction by more than 10 degrees at a given PI.
We have a Revit Ar 2011 project that is well along in the modeling process and we have noticed that recently elevation symbols do not display on the cursor while placing. Once the elevation tag has been placed it displays normally. Basically, you are operating somewhat blind until the item is placed. Then you can see it in order to modify the orientation and such.
I'm having trouble with getting quotation marks to display correctly, they look like 2 stacked >> symbols. They change slightly depending on what font I'm using, but they all ride at the base of the text. I cannot acheive normal looking curly or straight quotes at all.
I have tried switching smart quotes on and off in the preferences, restarting, etc. I've noticed this problem in the past, but I thought it was the font I was using. The same thing happens with Times New Roman. I'm running an up to date version of PSextended CS5, 64bit on win 7 64.
I'm trying to create a certain effect that is probably best illustrated with pictures
created by varying the thickness of lines, whether horizonal or part of letters or even symbols.
I don't know if this is even possible using photoshop to be perfectly honest. If that's the case, does anyone know the software that would be required?
I have like 12 symbols on the stage. They al have images in them in JPG format, saved at a quite low percentage in quality. The symbols are being animated seperately but it looks very sluggish.
I am recreating a whole Flash site in Edge. Everything works (amazing) fine except I am missing the function like it exists in Flash:“Display/ Render/ cache as bitmap”. (see image) This function used to BIGTIME in Flash too.Now how can I do something similar in Edge?I do not want to animate all symbols as 1, it is essential they are animated separately. Is this possible in Adobe Edge Animate? Is there something similar in Javascript/ Jquery?
Working on an image this evening and needed to do some pixel level editing, and noticed two issues, they may be just on my system.
First, going to the navigator panel and select the zoom percentage, then using the up arrow to increase the zoom factor - the percentage value increases but the zoom does not work - for example my image is zoomed to 100% in the edit window, highlight the percentage zoom, increase the zoom amount using the up arrow to say 170% - but the image stays at 100%
Second, once you zoom to say 500% instead of seeing a highly pixelated image I see the suit material - like we saw before but cannot remember the bug that was being discussed. This maybe a driver issue - but just upgraded to the latest driver for the Intel 40000. Update at a zoom factor of 495% I see a pixelated image - at 520% and greater I see the suit fabric - yes sometimes for portrait retouching I do work at 500% ort higher
Here is the fabric at 520% zoom factor Running CS6 with all the latest patches applied with Windows 7 x64
When working in a drawing, I don't see a selection for weld symbols in Annotate - Symbols. Are they not available in LT? Is there something I need to do to activate them?
I am working on getting some settings done, moving from 2008 to 2012. How do you set the Middle Mouse Button (wheel) to either Zoom All or Zoom Extents when you double click it? I thought it was set in the Main CUI file.
My keyboard has a zoom key with + and - selections. I use to use this key in drawings to zoom in and out when in the AutoCAD application when we had Windows XP. Now that I have Windows 7 I can't do this. I can't find out how to assign this key on the Microsoft Keyboard interactive software either. I have the other keys assigned as desired.
Can I still use my keyboard zoom key to zoom in and out in drawings? If so, how do I set this up in AutoCAD, or do I need to do this through a Microsoft keyboard application?
I am having problems with zoom, pan and rotate at high zoom level. The movements becoming jerky and delayed. But for whatever reason the problem exists in some assembly files and not in the others.
I use Photoshop CS2 to create Designs for webpages. These designs have pixel-exact elements, e.g. a 1-pixel-line from top to bottom.
Now when I zoom in (>100, then I have sort of anti-alias, so that the 1-pixel-line isn't only one blue anymore, but it has different blue tones. I guess for photo manipulations etc. this anti-aliasing zoom is great, but for webdesign it sucks because I don't know if only the zoom make the line "corrupt" or if it really is corrupt.
I can't find in new max (2013) settings for zoom. I want to set Zoom about mouse pointer and adjust a bit zoom speed (now it is too much for one mouse wheel step).
I can't find zoom settings in 3ds max 2013. Where they are? I think that in previous max it was in Customize -> Viewports tab. But now it is not there.
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?
For example, Stairs have a stringer componet in plan display configuration but does not have a stringer componet in the Low Detail configuration. I need the stringer to show when I go to low detail how can I add a stringer componet in low detail.
A consultant (of our office roofing department) provided CAD drawings of roofs depicting various roof symbols to represent equipment, this survey was years ago so I had no hands in it. The office roof inspector is hoping I may be able to change all the symbols to be industry standard symbols as the consultant used their own. Originally I told the roofing department it would be easy as I would just write a lisp and a script to change all the symbols to the new blocks...or so I thought.
As soon as I opened one of the consultant's files, those symbols...were not blocks, they were all comprised of lines, circles and hatches. In my frustration, I contacted the consultant and wanted a clarification on this, they simply drew the lines in and copied and pasted the symbols over and over again.
I got 240 drawings to literally update overtime. Each drawing can have an average of 30 symbols. Is there a way for autocad to recognize certain line patterns or hatch patterns (actually only the solids were used) and then store the x,y co-ordinates?
I am currently writing a book that will initially be sold as a PDF but may later go on the i Book store, however I don't have a Retina display myself and what is the best practice for making screenshots from a normal display look acceptably sharp on a Retina display?
I have Photoshop along with the iOS simulator that shows how the iPad or iPhone will look if they can be used in some way but I mainly need to get menu items and dialogue boxes from various applications in OS X and Windows looking good on Retina screens. I really don't want to pay out for a Retina display purely for this task that would only take a few hours of work at most.
I tried searching the forums for this topic but the search thing didn't seem to work.
A friend of mine installed Photoshop CS for me (an upgrade from 7.0) and for some reason I can't use CTRL + and CTRL - to zoom in and out, I have to use the mouse with the zoom tool which slows me down quite a bit over the course of 20 or so photo edits.
Can anyone shed some light on this? I checked Keyboard shortcuts in the preferences menu and they were correct. I've made no other changes to the program.
Is there a way to update a symbol of one type, without the changes being applied to all symbols of that type in the drawing?
Example: If I have three Flag Note symbol's in my drawing from the same sketch symbol and the text reads 1, is there a way that I can change the text to read 2 in one of them without the other two flag notes updating as well?

I'm having issues with annotative symbols jumping around the page. As far as I can tell, it happens on certain symbols when I add a second(or more) annotative scale to that symbol. I can reset the symbols so that they're all aligned and sitting 'on top' of each other, but when I switch to different viewports/plot or save/open the drawing again they've reverted to the position they jump too.
In the past I thought it might be something to do with where the basepoint was within the block, but having changed that, I still had the problem.
Both the blocks I've had it happen with are reasonably simple (one's an 'Auto Air Valve' symbol with a mask behind the lines, the other is a custom 'Section line' symbol although that also has some properties to allow me to extend the section line) objects. With the section line symbol I mirror it to get the second half, which is the half it's having the problem on. I wouldn't expect mirroring an object would do it though.
The odd thing is, it's only happened in some drawings that I've done, and only with some symbols (which were all created at a similar time, so should have the same issues?), so I can't think of what it could be.
I've just started working for an architect and downloaded AutoCad LT 2013 today...is there some sort of menu where I can get basic door, window, etc. blocks? Or are these things I need to create myself?...I see the "tool palettes" box but it seems to have a random selection of stuff labeled "Imperial Samples" leading me to believe there might be other stuff elsewhere.
I work for an electrical company, so obviously there's plenty of symbols that are used on our drawings. Now, I want to create a legend of all the symbols we use, but I want to put them in a table. Is there any way of doing it, so that rows can be hidden but not lost from the table?
I've had a custom RomanS.shx for the past 15 years that has additional symbols in it that are not in the standard one.
For example: %%150 = Centerline %%130 = Delta %%133 = Property Line %%201 - 210 = Roman Numerals, and more.
They work great in old style single line text, but they have never worked in MText. I just get a question mark, until last week. The centerline symbol showed up in a piece of text imported from an outside DWG, but I could not figure out how. I could not see what code was there, it totally stumped me, but it got me thinking. Is it possible?
How I can get these characters to show up properly in MText? And not the symbols that are in there via the U+ codes. They look so different than romans that I can not use them.
