AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Elevation Label That Give Spot Elevation
Jul 11, 2013I am trying to create an elevation label that will give me the spot elevation followed by the letters "TC" and then on the line below subtract 4 inches from the elevation followed by the letters "BC". It's easy enogh to add the letters but the simple equation of elevation - 4 inches eludes me.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Spot Elevation For Surface To Plot Screened
Dec 18, 2013xrefing a drawing that has annotated surface labels spot elevations into a Precise Grading Breakout Sheet, but making sure those labels plot screened. How do I make sure I can plot it screened? I have set the label styles By Layer and the text within that style is set By Layer and the Layer I created for the styles is set to plotstyle screened and color 8, I also made sure that the Precise Grading breakout sheet has the xref layers applicable to those surface labels set to screened plotstyle and color 8.

May 8, 2013I know that I can add coordinates for such elevation using text component editor but I have to add the letter "N" for North or "E" for East to identify the location of the elevation (North/East/South/West). But, is there a way to make a label style that reads up the location of an elevation automatically?

Revit :: Spot Elevation Finding Perimeter Only?
Apr 30, 2013One of my colleagues was able to insert Spot Elevations by picking anywhere on the surface of his floor objects in his floor plan yesterday (2013 Central file with two users working). Today, when he tries to place the same Spot Elevation object, he is only able to pick the floors at the perimeter of the floor objects instead of the surface of the floor. what setting or mode they accidentally changed to prompt this unfortunate behavior?

Revit :: Spot Elevation Text Wrong In Rotated Dependent Views
Sep 27, 2012I have just discovered that Spot Elevation text is mesbehaving in rotated dependent views:
If you have an orthogonal parent plan view, then create a dependant view from it, then rotate just that dependant view, then place a spot elevation - the spot elevation symbol respects the rotation of the view (ie its paralel to screen/view boundary), but the spot elevation text remains in the orientation of the parent view. see attached image.
This does not happen if you rotate a normal Revit plan view; nor does it happen with a callout - both cases the symbol and the text are parallel to the view boundary. I think this is a bug?

Lines starting and ending points are at this level, circle centers -and circles as objects- polylines etc.
How is possible to setup a different elevation for my objects?
Second case: Just in case I rotate my UCS and having my drawing doing all my objects in the plane X-Z therefore my coordinate Y as default for every object, could I set up the Y coordinate as required?
AutoCAD 2013 :: Extending To Line With Z Elevation?
Oct 17, 2012There is a coworker of mine that seems to have an issue pop up in random files here. He is drawing his siteplan on a file received from a consultant, the issue he's having is that if a line has any sort of elevation to it, he can't extend another line to it. He can flatten the line and then extend to it, but if the same issue is tried on any other machine, the rest of us can extend the line without issue regardless of it having elevation or not. The frustrating part is that he couldn't tell the line had any elevation to it until he took the precision value out to 8 digits. The line he couldn't extend to had an elevation of 0.00000004. But as I said, his machine is the only one that has this issue. We are all running AutoCAD 2013 on Windows 7 64 Bit. Is there a setting or variable somewhere controlling this behavior?

The main issue Im having is, when i have a lets say house plan in viewport #1 and have all my blocks in place that I moved copyed from my template. When I open another viewport at a diffrent scale the blocks move. Im useing a large number of blocks for electrical symbols we use at work that I need to be in every viewport so we can copy them and place them where needed on the plan.

Aug 23, 2012In AutoCAD Architecture 2009, we had this awesome button that would basically "lock" the z-axis. This was very handy to move 3D objects around in the same plane.
Now in AutoCAD 2013, the button is no longer there! I found that you can make it a full-time change in the Options/Drafting tab, but we like to switch back and forth with this and that button was really handy.
I've also read that in older versions you could run the "AecProject.arx" file, but we don't have that in our AutoCAD 2013 folder (and I can't find it anywhere else on our hard drives.)
We do have AutoCAD Architecture 2013 but I was trying to only utilize what I needed rather than turn on Architecture every day.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Spot Elevations Disappear When Saving Down From 2013 To 2007
Oct 19, 2012I just completed my first topo using Civil3D 2013 (yay!) and now I want to send it to a client. However, when I save it as an ACAD 2007 file and go to open it using ACAD 2007 the spot elevations and all text and symbols associated with them disappear. I can't imagine that you have to have Civil3D to view a Civil3D file. Is there something I can do here?
I did not create a survey database with these points, just imported the .txt file from the field.

Oct 13, 2012The way I used to adjust feature lines was to highlight the node I wanted to adjust and then raise or lower that elevation incrementally until I got to a grade that worked.
Now I've noticed that when I highlight a node and hit the button to raise or lower, it forgets which node I had highlighted after the first press. This is a problem because now I either have to click on the node every time, because if I don't it will raise or lower the elevation of the entire feature line.

A few weeks ago I did not have this problem but once my computer was switched to the company's global server and c3d was reinstalled the problem appeared. Furthermore (post switchover), when a colleage of mine prepared a simple test drawing with just a line and a point, he was able to snap to that line without the point changing elevation. When he sent that drawing to me and I tried snapping the point to the object, the same problem occured with the point taking the elevation of the line object. I suspect it is a system variable issue
